Actress Sandra Bullock was named EW’s 2013 ‘Entertainer of the Year.’ The mag indicated it was her tremendous talent and range, grace and good humor through good times and bad that landed her the top spot.

Her latest film ‘Gravity’ will undoubtedly earn her a Best Actress nod at the 86th Academy Awards and is also expected to be a front-runner in the Best Picture category.

With stardom comes drama and many times unwanted media attention. Bullock spoke with EW about the highs and lows and that it’s the lows that make her appreciate the highs.

She claims, “When people are like, ‘Life is good,’ I go, ‘No, life is a series of disastrous moments, painful moments, unexpected moments, and things that will break your heart. And in between those moments, that’s when you savor, savor, savor.'”

In September she told Vogue, “We’re all where we’re supposed to be. I am exactly where I want to be now. You can’t go backward. I’m not going backward. I’m grateful that I’m here, blessed to have what I have. Nobody can be prepared for anything.”

Bullock adopted her now 3-year-old son Louis in early 2010 just before her split from Jesse James. She has not be publicly linked with anyone in the intervening years.

Sandra acknowledged, “If a relationship should come along, great. But I feel like I’m not missing anything yet. Maybe one day I will. But my son is 3 years old, which is an amazing age. Four is an even better age. So if something happens, great, but if not, I’ve got plenty to do.”
