Barbara Walters sat down with Miley Cyrus to film a one-on-one interview that will air Wednesday night during the journalist’s ’10 Most Fascinating People of 2013′ special on ABC.

The 21-year-old ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer landed on Walters’ list this year largely because of her controversial twerking exhibition with Robin Thicke at the 2013 VMA’s.

She talked about her broken engagement with Liam Hemsworth, acknowledging, “It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years.”

In retrospect she isn’t sorry for getting engaged so young … but admits, “I don’t think I realized what 19 truly was when I got engaged.”

Cyrus claims to have learned a great deal about herself this year, including discovering that she can now be alone without suffering a great deal of anxiety.

Prior to her split with Hemsworth, she revealed, “I was so scared of ever being alone, and I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I have had, this entire year. I don’t ever want to have to need someone again.”

Among the rest of Barbara Walters ‘Most Fascinating People’ of 2013: Jennifer Lawrence, Robin Roberts, Edward Snowden, Prince George, The Robertson Family, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Diana Nyad and Pope Francis. Her top pick is yet unnamed — we’re guessing it will be Angelina Jolie.

The show airs Wednesday on ABC at 9:30 p.m. ET. Check out a sneak peek clip below:
