Gwyneth Paltrow and Vanity Fair have reportedly mended fences, thus ensuring that editor-in-chief Graydon Carter will no longer publish a planned expose regarding an alleged extramarital affair.

Page Six, claiming insider information, indicated VF would write about Paltrow’s 2008 involvement with real estate mogul Jeffrey Soffer, who has since married supermodel Elle Macpherson.

Carter and Paltrow patched things up over a long phone conversation a few weeks ago and have apparently worked out their differences.

Earlier this year Paltrow sent out an e-mail plea to all of her A-list friends, instructing them not to talk to VF about her or appear in any future articles.

Soon after the contents of her note to friends went public in October, Graydon Carter confirmed to the Times of London that he would be running an article on the star.

He claimed, “We started a story on her. We have a very good writer and it’ll run. She sort of forced my hand.”

Following the Page Six scoop, Paltrow’s publicist issued this statement, “Jeff is a longtime friend of Gwyneth’s and there was never a romantic relationship between them.”

Paltrow wed Coldplay rocker Chris Martin in 2003. They have two children; Apple, 9, and Moses, 7. Her mother is veteran actress Blythe Danner.
