‘Duck Dynasty’ patriarch Phil Robertson has finally broken his public silence regarding the controversial remarks that resulted in his indefinite suspension from the family’s A&E reality show.

Phil told a Bible study group in West Monroe, Louisiana on Sunday, “I will not give or back off from my path. We are a bunch of rednecks from Louisiana, but I am not uneducated, I have a degree from Louisiana Tech. But this week I have been called an ignoramus.”

Phil added, “I love all men and women. I am a lover of humanity, not a hater. I will not give or back off from my path because you conquered death, Father, so we are not worried about all the repercussions.”

Robertson made no mention of his A&E sanction, while the rest of the Robertson clan have said via their website that they will not film additional episodes without him. The network indicates Phil will continue to appear in already-filmed segments.

Willie Robertson and his siblings issued this statement, “We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty.”

A number of other cable networks have already approached the family about continuing the series elsewhere.
