New Jersey governor Chris Christie received a low blow last night when his idol Bruce Springsteen teamed up with Jimmy Fallon to perform a bridge scandal parody song.

During a guest appearance by The Boss last night on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,’ the Jersey born musician joined the talk show host in a humorous rewrite of ‘Born to Run’ that poked fun at the four day traffic jam on the George Washington bridge that has threatened to derail Christie’s future political aspirations.

Springsteen crooned, “I’m stuck in Gov. Chris Christie’s Fort Lee, New Jersey traffic jam.’ Jimmy wailed, “It’s a bi*ch slap to the state Democrats. The highways jammed with ticked off drivers with no place left to go, and the press conference… it was longer than one of my own damn shows.”

The beleaguered Christie, a mega fan of The Boss, has attended 129 Springsteen concerts by his own count, and even performed a cover of ‘Born to Run’ at his 2010 inaugural party.

He met The Boss during a telethon to raise money for storm relief following Superstorm Sandy. Christie gushed, “We hugged and he told me it’s official … we’re friends!”
