Alec Baldwin turned to social media Monday to bash the U.S. for performing a pat-down search of his baby Carmen while the family was going through airport security in the Bahamas.

He posted the following on Twitter:

It didn’t take the Department of Homeland Security long to respond to the bogus claim. A senior official told NBC News that the Transportation Security Administration doesn’t conduct screening operations in the Bahamas, only in the U.S.

Passenger screening is overseen by the Nassau Airport Authority. The government spokesman further indicated that the TSA does not pat down children under 12.

The former ’30 Rock’ actor and his wife Hilaria had been vacationing on Paradise Island after escaping the cold weather in Manhattan for a few days. In his inaccurate tweet, he erred further by indicating in his hashtag: “traveling in the US is a disgrace.”

Baldwin was corrected on his Twitter page by a number of fans who are familiar with airport practices in Nassau. One tweeted, “Dear @ABFalecbaldwin You are aware that the #TSA has no passenger screening or authority in Nassau, right? They didn’t touch your daughter.”

Another suggested, “@ABFalecbaldwin You could stay home! There’s just something off about you and flying. Just sayin’.”
