Michelle Duggar has never been shy about expressing her ultra-conservative political beliefs.
Duggar once called abortions "baby holocausts" and she and her husband became involved in the Hobby Lobby Supreme Court decision through a discgraced anti-contraceptive preacher that they supported for years.
So it should come as no surprise that Michelle doesn't have the enlightened attitude toward transgender people. Even so, the hateful rhetoric she's been spreading around Fayetteville, Arkansas in opposition to a proposed equal rights law is truly shocking.
An audio recording of a robocall recorded by Michelle for Fayetteville voters has gone viral, and it's genuinely hard to believe this woman is living in 2014.
Not only does she tell voters that "would allow men – yes, I said men – to use women's and girls' restrooms, locker rooms, showers, sleeping areas and other areas that are designated for females only," she goes on to imply that transgender people are more likely to commit sexual assault.
Alderman Matthew Petty - who put forth the proposal - issued a statement pointing out that the law in no way "provides predators with access to women's restrooms," and is in fact designed to prevent sexual assault against transgender individuals.
