Earlier this week, Bette Midler called Ariana Grande or whore.
Okay, maybe not in so many words, but the message was pretty clear. And we quote:
"It's always surprising to see someone like Ariana Grande with that silly high voice, slithering around on a couch, looking so ridiculous."
"Sex sells. Sex has always sold, [but] you don't have to make a whore of yourself to get ahead...I don't know where you're gonna go from all that sex in your twenties. I don't know how you sustain it."
In fairness, Bette was talking about Ariana's "Love Me Harder" music video in which the prepubescent-looking pop star humps everything in sight while wearing a pair of furry cat ears.
Still, the "whore" comment was a bit over the top, so we were glad when Ariana responded to Bette in remarkably mature fashion via Twitter today:
"Bette has always been a feminist who stood for women being able to do whatever the F they wanted without judment," Ari tweeted.
"Not sure where that Bette went but I want that sexy mermaid back! Always a fan no matter what my love, and I will still quote first wives club every single day of my life lmao."
Silencing the haters and putting the hot-tempered diva rumors to rest at the same time. looks like someone's been getting some media training!
