A townhouse in New York City’s Greenwich Village Gold Coast, rumored to belong to Tom Cruise, has hit the market for an asking price of $28 million.

The 1860 six-floor, 8000 square foot brownstone at 42 West 12th Street was purchased in 2009 by an LLC. According to the seller at the time, everyone involved in the deal signed confidentiality agreements, and there was much buzz among doormen on the Central Village block, with one even telling the Village Voice, “Can’t tell you who lives there. I would lose my job. But you know, we doormen know everything that goes on around here. I can tell you the owner won’t be there much because he’ll be filming in LA a lot, and I can tell you he bought the house for his wife, who was in a Broadway show.” The doorman smiled, “But I can’t tell you who it is. I could lose my job.”

The townhouse was renovated by architect Steven Harris. Features include 5 terraces, 7 working fireplaces, 6 bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms, a Japanese soak tub and outdoor shower on the roof terrace, state of the art built-in surround sound and humidification systems, and a hydraulic elevator that services all but the penthouse level, and a landscaped patio off the master bedroom.

Regardless of whether Tom Cruise ever owned this townhouse, it is one sweet piece of real estate eye candy.

Nascar champ Jeff Gordon has listed his apartment in New York City for $30 million.

One of the early buyers at Manhattan trophy residence 15 Central Park West — a celebrity favorite, Gordon purchased No. 7C, a 3 bedroom condo on the 7th floor, in 2007 for $9.67 million. Bob Costas bought No. 8C a few months later for $10.8 million.

Gordon and his wife, Indgrid Vandebosch, completely renovated the “white box with high ceilings and stunning views of Central Park,” customizing the space to their specifications.

The 3,454 square foot condominium features painstaking details, including an entry foyer with Santos Mahogany floors with solid brass in-laid edging, Brazilian cherry floors, rift-cut oak millwork and a fully integrated Crestron system that controls all lighting, window shades and audio/visual components.

Flamed absolute black granite appears throughout portions of the floor, walls, countertops and a custom-built “sushi bar” with steel countertop, wine fridge and mini bar concealed behind American walnut diving fins adorned with patinaed brass inserts.

Italian ceramic floors adorn the eat-in chef’s kitchen with flamed absolute black granite counters, an off-white backsplash of neo-Paris stone and Miele/Wolf/Sub-Zero appliances.

There is a large 740 square foot master bedroom with separate dressing room, 2 walk-in closets and an en-suite limestone and crema marfil marble bath with Boffie soaking tub and a two-person glass shower.

According to listing information, “15 Central Park West sits in a prime location on Central Park at 61st Street, next to Time Warner Center, and close to Lincoln Center, the Theater District, and some of the world’s best shopping on Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue. Fully staffed and pet friendly, this white-glove building offers a landscaped motor court, garage, 14,000-sf fitness center with a 75-foot sky-lit lap pool, spa and sauna/steam rooms, screening room for 20 guests, private restaurant and catering, private wine rooms, library, business center, 1,400-sf meeting space, game room, outdoor terrace, and children’s playroom.”
