Alicia Keys and Adam Levine Grammys

One of the best performances of the 55th Annual Grammy Awards Sunday night at the Staples Center in L.A. featured two of our favorite entertainers.

In the interest of self-disclosure, we’ll admit we dig Alicia Keys and have a HUGE crush on Maroon 5 rocker Adam Levine.

‘The Voice’ coach started out the performance with ‘Daylight’ followed by a duet with Alicia as they rocked ‘Girl On Fire’ … an amazing piece of musical artistry that had the audience up on their feet and singing along.

Keys, who feels most comfortable sitting at the piano, showed off her girl power by playing the drums.  She later tweeted, “Just got off stage!  SO blessed to have performed in this room!  I remember the first time! #GRAMMYs #memories”

Levine tweeted prior to the show, “Extremely excited for the @THEGRAMMYs tonight!  Performance is going to be EPIC.  And I kinda really wanna win one.  Ok?  Just one will be fine.”

Maroon 5 was up for Best PopDuo/Group Performance for ‘Payphone’ with Wiz Khalifa and Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘Overexposed.’  Unfortunately the awards went to Gotye featuring Kimbra and Kelly Clarkson.

The Keys-Levine Grammys performance received mixed reviews, with the word “bland” being used by some.   Jay-Z and Beyonce showed the entertainers some love by bobbing their heads appreciatively to the beat when a camera caught their reaction mid-song.

Check it out and let us know what you think?  Did show host LL Cool J get it right when he promised the audience that the performance was going to be “literally on fire”?

Alicia Keys Sings 'Slow' National Anthem

Alicia Keys performed a soulful rendition of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ prior to the Super Bowl XLVII kick-off yesterday but not everyone was ready to applaud her efforts.

According to experts who track such things, Sunday’s performance set a record for the longest Super Bowl version in history, lasting 156.4 seconds.  The previous record holder was Natalie Cole, who needed 152 seconds to deliver the national tune in 1994.

Dressed in a body hugging burgundy gown and seated at a white piano situated on the 50-yard line, the 32-year-old songstress was in no hurry to get through the anthem that is a mainstay at sporting events in America.

One Twitter user joked, “I had time to eat dinner, pee, solve world hunger & find a cure for cancer in the same amount of time it took Alicia Keys to sing the anthem.”

It may have been slow but one thing is certain … it wasn’t lip-synched.  Check out the video below and let us know what you think.

Alicia Keys Snags Super Bowl National Anthem duties

Grammy-award winning singer Alicia Keys has been chosen to perform the national anthem in New Orleans on Feb. 3, Super Bowl Sunday.

She is currently riding high after the release of her fifth studio album, ‘Girl on Fire.’  During her thirteen year career she has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.

The NFL reported in October that Beyonce would be heading up the Pepsi Halftime Show.  Multiple sources say she will reunite with Destiny’s Child during a performance that will be viewed by 150 million people.

Regarding the task of leading the stadium in a rendition of the national anthem, Keys is among an elite group of entertainers who have been tapped to perform.  Other notables include Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Billy Joel, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond and Mariah Carey.

During the 2011 Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers in Dallas, Christina Aguilera flubbed her lines and later took a thrashing on Twitter for the snafu.

Xtina isn’t alone.  Country singer Luke Bryan was taking no chances when he belted out the Star Spangled Banner last July during the MLB All-Star game, sneaking more than one peek at the crib notes he had scrawled on his hand.  He later apologized and remarked that the “pressure to be patriotic” during a public venue had him living in fear that he would forget the words.

Check out Xtina’s and Luke’s renditions below:

Alicia Keys is a natural beauty inside and out.  Earlier this month the talented entertainer lightened up her look by cutting her hair short and we love it!

The singer-songwriter recently posted a photo montage on her Twitter page to share with her fans the versatility of her style that looks great curly or straight.

Prior to the new ‘do, the songstress opted most of the time to simply pull her hair back in a ponytail.

New mama Alicia Keys has used her musical talents to express the joys of motherhood.  She collaborated with Eve for a new song Speechless, produced by her husband Swizz Beatz.

Alicia got married in August and gave birth to baby Egypt Dean in October.

The celeb took to her Twitter page yesterday to introduce her latest track: “Speechless is a little freestyle treat 4 the holidays.  It’s not a new album, not a single.  It’s something special 4 U!  My gift to you … a little song about my lil guy.  Love to you….let’s make 2011 incredible!!!”
