Ashlee Simpson Broadway Bound (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Ashlee Simpson Wentz, who recently ended an acting stint as Violet on Melrose Place, announced today that she is headed to Broadway for a 10-week run, playing the role of Roxie Hart in the musical Chicago beginning November 30.

The role is not a new one for the actress. She played Roxie at the Cambridge Theatre on London’s West End to rave reviews in late 2006. One reviewer called the performance “dazzling and near flawless.”

The 25-year-old is married to Fall Out Boy musician Pete Wentz. The couple have a son Bronx Mowgli, who will turn one-year-old on November 20.

Jessica Simpson Bashes Melrose Place

Wow, we’re kind of shocked that Jessica Simpson is actually taking a stand for her sister Ashlee Simpson, who was recently booted from CW’s Melrose Place. Ashlee took the high road and decided to go out with grace, but her big sis decided to get in a nasty parting shot.

The current trend is for celebrities to ‘tweet’ their angst and that is exactly what Jess did last night.

“CW catching up on MP. Who writes this crap? I have had bad scripts to work with but this? Thank God my sister is amazing and got you some press.”

Melrose Place Drops Ashlee Simpson Wentz

It turned out to be a short-lived comeback for Ashlee Simpson Wentz. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Ashlee and her co-star Colin Egglesfield have been booted from the CW drama Melrose Place.

Both celebrities were fully aware from the get-go that their roles would be ending once the whole “murder mystery” that they were tangled in got resolved. That has happened and they have been given their walking papers.

Ashlee released the following statement, “Having the chance to play Violet on Melrose Place has been a thrill. Although I always knew her story would come to a final, insanely unpredictable end, playing a creepy, unstable character was something I always wanted to do, so I jumped at the chance. Thanks to the CW and the entire cast and crew of Melrose Place for allowing me this opportunity.”

The excitement doesn’t end here. Heather Locklear returned to Melrose Place a few weeks ago and word is that her next three episodes will involve a new love interest. Executive producer Todd Slavkin said that Locklear is going to appear in all episodes going forward and will be the show’s main focus.

Jessica Simpson, known for her body issues, braved it on Friday by putting on a black swimsuit to help her little sister Ashlee Simpson Wentz celebrate her 25th birthday at MGM Grand hot spot Wet Republic in Las Vegas.

We hesitate to call her undergarment a bikini because it looks more substantial than that with its high waist. The transparent coverup, a bit of a puzzler, was no doubt chosen to afford her further modest….at least that is our best guess.

For a walk down memory lane, we’ve included a bikini pic from back in the day…when Jessica was at the top of her game.

Heather Locklear Melrose Place Return Status

It looks like we won’t be seeing or hearing Amanda Woodward back on the streets of Melrose Place after all. Actress Heather Locklear was expected by many to return to reprise her role as Amanda, but apparently it is not to be.

A source close to the set said that “There wasn’t a way to bring her back that made sense.” No matter how the media spins it, Locklear’s side says they are the ones who turned down the deal.

Who can you look forward to seeing on the new Melrose? New mommy Ashlee Simpson will have a spot, as will the daughter of David Cassidy, Katie.

Another oldie but goody Lisa Rinna, who played Taylor McBride on the original show, is campaigning to be back on the set and is going to great lengths to show the producers that her fans miss her. If Rinna’s magic doesn’t work, don’t despair because you will get a chance to see her this summer on the pages of Playboy.

The internet went crazy yesterday after photos surfaced of Jessica Simpson looking like she had put on some pounds. The singer performed at a concert put on by Radio 99.9 Kiss in conjunction with an annual chili cook-off in Pembroke Pines, Florida on Sunday.

Jessica’s little sister Ashlee Simpson is disgusted with all the attention that the news is giving to her sister’s weight. Ashlee took the time to address this situation on her blog.

“Since when did a woman’s weight become newsworthy. A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all the women to read about a woman’s weight or figure. All women come in different shapes, sizes and forms and because you’re a celebrity, there shouldn’t be a different standard.”

Ok, we don’t think she’s overweight, what we do think is that her stylist is to blame and that person should get fired ASAP. Those awful high-waisted pants would make anyone look like they have put on a few pounds and the belt right under her chest isn’t doing anything positive for her figure either.

Pete and Ashlee Won’t Be Selling Bronx’ Baby Photos

Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz and wife Ashlee Simpson have decided against making a quick buck off of new son Bronx Mowgli Wentz, who was born on November 20th.

Any time you want to know what is going on in Pete’s world, just check out his blog. His most recent entry talks about their decision to keep Bronx and his sweet little face private. The post was titled, Ring ring…It’s the truth calling.

“Truth is like every celeb couple, we were offered mounds and mounds of money by mags from here to Guam to pimp out the baby. We just don’t want to go down that road with him.”

Wentz also assures everyone that he is cute and looks just like his mommy Ashlee. Speculation was that the couple didn’t get the kind of offers they were hoping for and that was the reason for no photos. We want to believe that they truly were protecting their child.

Ashlee Simpson Wentz, 24, gave birth to a baby boy on Thursday night, November 20th at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She and her 29 year old husband Pete Wentz, Fall Out Boys bassist, have named their son Bronx Mowgli Wentz. The baby weighed in at seven pounds and 11 ounces and is 20-1/2 inches long.

Mowgli was the most prominent and memorable fictional character to appear in Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book series.

A rep for the couple released the following statement: Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy, and thank everyone for their well wished!”

The Fall Out Boys are set to release their third album, Folie A Deux on December 16.

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is less than a month away from giving birth to her first child with husband Pete Wentz. The couple announced their engagement on April 9th and were married on May 17, 2008.

In September the couple confirmed on their website that they are expecting a boy in November 2008, just weeks from now. The copper haired singer was looking rather pale while out with a friend on Friday. They were spotted entering and exiting Kamasaku restaurant in West Hollywood.

No need to keep looking for Waldo – he was spotted in Hollywood yesterday. Crap! That’s not Waldo, it’s just Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz and his wife and baby-to-be momma Ashlee Simpson.

Simpson and Wentz were married in May of this year and are expecting their first child in November. Word on the streets is that their bundle of joy will be a little boy. How cute would it be if Ashlee knitted the baby a matching Waldo sweater and hat to look just like his daddy.
