Barack Obama was bangin last night

During last night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, the funniest bit was most certainly Barack Obama’s attempt to gain a media bounce by trying a Michelle Obama trick.

The president busted a few moves while taking the podium Saturday night at the Washington Hilton for what has been dubbed “Washington Prom Night.”

Obama asked the audience, “How do you like my new entrance music?  Rush Limbaugh warned you about this.  Second term baby.”

He lamented the fact that he is aging–with some interesting comments.  “I look in the mirror and I’ve got to admit, I’m not the strapping young Muslim socialist that I used to be.”

“My team and I realized that I needed some new energy so we borrowed one of Michelle’s tricks.”  This was followed by a couple of Photoshopped images on the big screen of POTUS rocking bangs.

Bangs make the woman and the man

Celebrities and politicians mingled last night at the 2013 White House Correspondents Dinner held at the Washington Hilton.

The jokes were flying with comedian Conan O’Brien hosting the annual event.  He took shots at Vice President Joe Biden and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

He offered, “I’d like to acknowledge that earlier this evening, there was some confusion with the seating chart.  For a moment, someone accidentally sat Governor Chris Christie with the Republicans.  That was awkward, and I apologize.”

O’Brien zinged President Barack Obama with, “I have a question, and I think some of you also have this question.  It’s been several months since you were reelected, sir, so I’m curious, why are you still sending everyone five emails a day asking for more money?”

He continued, “You won.  Do you have a gambling problem we don’t know about?  Did you put it all on Gonzaga?  You did, didn’t you? He did!”

Among our featured red carpet celebrities were Korie and Willie Robertson of ‘Duck Dynasty’ fame.  He tweeted, “I’m at White House Correspondents Dinner.  Surprised I’m the only person wearin’ a bandana.”

John Lennon's widow tweets bloody glasses

Barack Obama’s Twitter account retweeted a graphic photo of the bloody glasses of murdered Beatle John Lennon, who was gunned down in New York City in 1980.

The image, featuring the eye glasses on a hard surface with the New York City skyline in the background, was originally tweeted by Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono with a caption, “Over 1,057,000 people have been killed by guns in the U.S.A. since John Lennon was shot and killed on December 8, 1980.”

President Obama’s Twitter account endorsed Ono’s activism by retweeting the graphic image to 28 million POTUS followers, as the administration and congressional Democrats try to push for more gun control after the Sandy Hook tragedy.

A proposed assault weapons ban and universalized background check bill has failed to gain traction due to the lack of bipartisan supports.

John Lennon was shot and killed in front of his Manhattan condo building by Mark David Chapman more than three decades ago.  He and Yoko Ono had just returned from Record Plant Studio.

Chapman later acknowledged that he killed the musician because he was incensed by his “more popular than Jesus” remark, considering it blasphemy.   The shooter was convicted of second degree murder and remains behind bars at a maximum security prison in New York, where he has been denied parole seven times.

Besides his widow, Lennon is survived by sons Julian, 50, and Sean, 37.

Michelle Obama covers Vogue April 2013

First Lady Michelle Obama graces the April 2013 cover and inside pages of Vogue magazine with some decidedly flattering photos captured by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.

The 49-year-old wife of second term president Barack Obama appears to be feeling a great deal of liberation — or is it simply those amazing bangs that have transformed her entire vibe?  In any case, she looks wonderful!

During a photo shoot that included POTUS, Leibovitz remarked, “There’s a lot of huggin’ going on.  You’re a very different kind of president and First Lady.”

Despite all of obvious obligations associated with residing in the White House, Michelle claims, “Our number-one priority is making sure that our family is whole.”

The president believes they have remained grounded.  “We were pretty much who we are by the time I hit the national scene.  We didn’t grow up and come of age under a spotlight.  We were anonymous folks.  I was a state senator, but nobody knows who a state senator is.  So most of our 30s and 40s were as a typical middle-class family… That really didn’t change until I was 45.  And there is something about having lived a normal life and raised kids.”

GMA Welcomes Back Robin Roberts

It was a big day on the set of ‘Good Morning America’ with the return of Robin Roberts five months after she took a medical leave to undergo a life saving bone marrow transplant.

Roberts’ opening remarks, “I have been waiting 174 days to say this: ‘Good Morning America.’  I keep pinching myself and I realize that this is real.  Faith, family and friends have brought me to this moment, and I am so full of gratitude.  I share this morning, this day of celebration, with everyone.”

Her colleagues pulled out all of the stops in welcoming Robin back to the anchor desk.  One of the first surprises of the day was a special message from President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

The president said, “Welcome back Robin.”  Michelle continued, “Robin, we just want you to know that the whole Obama family has been thinking about you and praying for you and rooting for you every step of the way.”  Her husband added, “You’ve been an inspiration to all of us and we couldn’t be happier that you are back here doing what you do best.”

Michelle said, “And personally I am looking forward to our interview together in a couple of days.”

Hillary Clinton also recorded a humorous welcome back greeting for Robin, joking that now that she is out of a job she’ll be watching ‘GMA’ every morning and would appreciate it if the popular anchorwoman would wave at her on occasion.  Roberts promptly complied.

No celebration would be complete without a cake.  We think you’ll agree that the ‘Welcome Home Robin’ confection was a masterpiece.  We wonder if the Manhattan-based ‘Cake Boss’ had anything to do with it’s creation?
