Stefania Fernandez Miss Universe 2009 (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Miss Venezuela 2009 Stefania Fernandez was named Miss Universe 2009 on Sunday night at the Atlantis paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas. It was a back to back win for the Latin American country, the sixth time in pageant history.

Placing the coveted jeweled crown on the 18-year-old beauty queen’s head was the reigning Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza, who jumped up and down with obvious pleasure.

Judged on evening gown, swimsuit and interview, Fernandez has won a prize package that includes a $100,000 acting scholarship to a New York acting academy, a Manhattan apartment for one year, clothing, jewelry and an undisclosed monetary gift.

Finishing as 1st Runner-up was Miss Dominican Republic – Ada de la Cruz; 2nd Runner-up was Miss Kosovo – Marigona Dragusha; 3rd Runner-up was Miss Australia – Rachael Finch; 4th Runner-up was Miss Puerto Rico – Mayra Matos.

Miss Congeniality was Miss China 2009 Wang Jingyao and Miss Photogenic was Miss Thailand Chutima Durangdej. Miss USA Kristen Dalton was among the Top 10.

Britney Spears Bikini Photos and Family Pool Pics

Britney Spears was photographed poolside on Sunday and Monday with her children. The family has been staying at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Marina Del Ray.

Spears was captured blowing up some swim floats for Jayden James Federline and Sean Preston Federline, who are sporting buzz cuts this summer. The singer has been enjoying a short break before heading to Ontario, Canada to resume her successful Circus Tour midweek.

We recently learned that American Idol winner Jordin Sparks will join Brit on tour as her new opening act.

The 58th Annual Miss Universe pageant was aired LIVE from Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas on Sunday August 23 on NBC at 9 pm eastern. See the new Miss Universe 2009 here.

Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza ended her reign and relinquished her crown to one of the 84 contestants from countries all over the globe. Prior to her last big night in the spotlight, she graced the cover and pages of Maxim magazine’s September issue, on newsstands August 18. We’ve included her photo with the gallery of the 2009 contestants below.

The swimsuit portion of the competition was held on August 9. The gorgeous contestants have been ranked and only 15 of them will go on to compete for the Miss Universe 2009 title during the live television broadcast. Our featured bikini beauty is Miss Mexico, 21-year-old Karla Carrillo.

We’ve pulled together some great celebrity photos that are not only pleasing to the eye but perhaps speak to our patriotic sensibilities as well. While some may frown upon the practice of sporting representations of Old Glory, others embrace the practice–particularly on the 4th of July.

The most recognized symbol in our American culture, the original 13-star version was adopted in 1777. Our current 50-star flag was adopted in 1960.

Jessica Simpson sang the National Anthem at the Pro-Am earlier this week. Tiger Woods and Tony Romo seemed to enjoy it – photos and video here.

Miss North Carolina Kristen Dalton was crowned Miss USA 2009 at Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Sunday evening. The pageant is owned by Donald Trump and was broadcast on NBC.

The 21 year old is an aspiring motivational speaker from Wilmington. She will be given the use of a New York apartment for the coming year, along with a public relations team, a two year scholarship at the New York Film Academy and an undisclosed salary.

Brooklyn Decker & Andy Roddick Wedding

Andy Roddick married Brooklyn Decker in a sunset ceremony at his home in Austin, Texas on Friday night. The lovely 21 year old swimsuit model and her 26 year old tennis pro fiance exchanged their vows during a candlelit ceremony.

The entire state of Texas was besieged by heavy rains throughout the day but the skies clears by 7 p.m. The backyard wedding at Roddick’s lakeside home was held in a large event tent. Everything went off without a hitch except a planned golf game in the early afternoon.

The bridesmaids, including swimsuit model Julie Henderson, wore strapless, chocolate colored gowns and carried bouquets of tulips and peonies. The bride wore a fitted custom Vera Wang dress and the couple exchanged platinum wedding bands from Tiffany & Co.

Guests dined on steak, fish and pasta. They included Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi. Sir Elton John, a longtime friend of the groom, provided the musical entertainment with eight planned selections and then took audience requests.

The couple met in 2007 after the tennis star saw photos of Decker in Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition and asked his agent to find out her telephone number. The couple announced their engagement in March 2008.

American Idol season four winner, Carrie Underwood, was spotted enjoying a little beach time in Destin, Florida, soaking up some rays in a teeny bikini.

Carrie, voted the World’s Sexiest Vegetarian twice by PETA, looks fit and fab in these photos. Last month Jessica Simpson had tongues wagging when she sported a “Real Girls Eat Meat” t-shirt that many speculated was a dig at Underwood, who used to date Simpson’s Dallas Cowboys boyfriend Tony Romo.
