Carrie Underwood Takes Over Sunday Night Football Theme Song

Faith Hill is out and Carrie Underwood is in to sing the theme song for Sunday Night Football during the 2013 football season on NBC.

The veteran country singer is passing the torch to the former ‘American Idol’ winner who will put her own spin on ‘Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.’

According to producer Fred Gaudelli, it didn’t take him long to come up with a Plan B after Hill informed him in February that she was stepping down.

He admits that Underwood was the first performer that came to mind when NBC first broadcast the Sunday night NFL games in 2006.

The ‘Blown Away’ singer said during a conference call, “For me, it just always seemed like something that would be fun to do. To watch Faith do it week after week, to see that hype for the game, it’s something that’s so cool.”

NBC is currently developing a three-hour television movie remake of the iconic ‘The Sound of Music’ and the starring role was handed to talented country singer Carrie Underwood.

Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment said, “Speaking for everyone at NBC, we couldn’t be happier to have the gifted Carrie Underwood take up the mantle of the great Maria von Trapp. She was an iconic woman who will now be played by an iconic artist.”

The 1965 Oscar-winning film ‘The Sound of Music’ featured Julie Andrews. She was awarded a Golden Globe and nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Actress category.

During the 2007 CBS special Movies Rock, relative newbie Underwood got an opportunity to try out those famous lyrics that continue to move every generation to climb mountains of their own.

The made for TV movie will premiere sometime during the 2013 holiday season.

Country sweetheart Carrie Underwood was rocking a patriotic look last night during a CMA Festival concert in Nashville.

The former American Idol winner hit the stage in a sparkly stars and stripes tank top over a pair of glitzy daisy duke-inspired shorts.

She tweeted in the wee hours, “Just had the most amazing time on stage at LP Field at the#CMAfest! Thanks to all who stayed up late to party!”

Carrie Underwood Releases ‘Good Girl’ Music Video

Country singer Carrie Underwood released the music video for her new single Good Girl, the lead track off her fourth album Blown Away.

The former American Idol winner turned the video into a fashion show of sorts, showcasing one stunning look after another.

The underlying theme reveals her split personality that is equal parts good girl and an edgier self who warns about a lying, no-good man.

Underwood has used the girl scorned by crappy guy theme in the past with a great deal of success.

Carrie Underwood Strikes Leggy Pose on ‘Blown Away’ Album Cover

Carrie Underwood has released the cover art for her fourth studio album, Blown Away, set to drop on May 1.

Striking a leggy pose not unlike the one that Angelina Jolie was rocking during the Oscars, the country singer shows off her gorgeous legs as her long flowing gown is presumably caught up in the wind.

The season four American Idol winner hit Twitter for the big reveal, “There it is … Blown Away. May 1st will be here before we know it! Hope you all like it! I’m so excited!”

Underwood recently released the lead single off the new album. Check out Good Girl below:
