It’s Official: Chace Crawford to Star in Footloose

Paramount Pictures has confirmed that Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford will indeed star in the remake of Footloose. The actor will be taking on the lead role of Ren McCormack, which was originally played by Kevin Bacon back in 1984.

The coveted part was originally offered to High School Musical star Zac Efron, who dropped out of the project in March because he felt it wasn’t a good fit for him.

The Footloose remake will start shooting in March 2010. Others jockeying for plum rolls include Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes and Dancing with the Stars professional dancer Julianne Hough, who have all reportedly auditioned but there has been nothing official yet regarding who may have made the cut.

Too funny! Former ‘N Sync boy band member JC Chasez is sick and tired of the rumors that he and Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford are more than just friends. Chasez spoke with People magazine:

“You know what, it’s laughable the first time, I think the tenth time, it gets annoying.”

Chace has been in the media quite a bit lately because of his reported split from Carrie Underwood. JC used to date Eva Longoria before she married her missing husband basketball star Tony Parker. If he thinks that dating Eva makes him exempt from being gay, then Ken Paves must be straight too. Those two spend more time together than she does with the wayward (in more ways than one) Tony.

“The fact of the matter is I am a straight guy and I am allowed to have guy friends.”

Well than that settles it – Bitten and Bound says he’s straight!

Miss Missouri Candice Crawford Has Underage Drinking History

Candace Crawford, sister of actor Chace Crawford, is the reigning Miss Missouri 2008. She received her crown on November 12, 2007 at Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Turns out the 20 year old received an underage drinking ticket earlier in the year.

As a matter of public record from the Columbia Missourian, Candice Crawford, 20, was arrested on suspicion of minor in possession at 12:08 a.m. March 16 at Tonic in the 100 block of South Ninth Street. (Detail).

It isn’t clear if this information was disclosed to the Miss Missouri pageant officials prior to Crawford’s bid for the title, nor is it clear whether the disclosure would have disqualified her from competing.

One thing is for sure – beauty queens don’t seem to be nearly as squeaky clean as we once thought. The list of tarnished royalty is getting longer all the time.

Crawford, who hosts the Dallas Cowboys sports show Special Edition, is reported to be dating Tony Romo.

Chace Crawford isn’t the only star in his family. Turns our his 19 year old sister Candice Crawford has a new claim to fame. She was crowned Miss Missouri USA 2008 last week and will compete in the 2008 Miss USA pageant. If that weren’t enough, she looks amazing like his current love interest, country western singer Carrie Underwood.

This could be mere coincidence but the sister and girl friend are nearly identical in these recent photos. I’m not sure what that says about Chace Crawford but we thought the information was news worthy. Candice Crawford is dating Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo – see details.

The dress that the newly crowned Miss Missouri is wearing is also remarkably like the one Carrie Underwood was wearing at the recent CMA Awards when she took Female Vocalist and Female Entertainer honors. So they share the same taste in clothing.

The whirlwind activities surrounding the “Country Music Awards” are over and Carrie Underwood and Chace Crawford have dressed way down as they hit the streets of New York on Sunday evening. Underwood is barely recognizable under that wool hat and hoodie.

The singer and actor Crawford appear to be enjoying each others company. With her busy schedule, these casual dates are hard to schedule as evidenced by the lack of photos on the net showing the pair together.

Only last year Carrie Underwood admitted to being “horrible around guys” – but that was then.

Now the country crooner, 24, seems to be finding her stride, with hunk Chace Crawford (read full bio) of Gossip Girl fame. Carrie Underwood had previously been linked with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

“Chace is really cute,” Underwood recently told PEOPLE of the 22-year-old Texas-born actor. “I’ve met him and he seems like a really nice guy. He’s got cool hair, he’s a nice height and he just has beautiful blue eyes.”

The pair stopped by Manhattan’s Marquee nightclub last Friday, then popped into Gramercy Park Hotel’s hip Rose Bar on Saturday night. Photos have been flying around for the past few days.

Carrie Underwood (read full bio) has been busy since she first appeared on our radar screen. She was an American Idol champ and received an award from The Acadamy of Country Music. Underwood was also a Country Music Television Video Award winner.

Clearly Underwood has been micro focused on her career and it seems to have been the right approach. She’s paid her dues – now maybe she can relax a little and take some well deserved ‘me’ time with a hunk like Chace Crawford.
