Chaz Bono weight loss

Chaz Bono has dropped 60 pounds and he is thrilled! The former ‘Dancing with the Stars’ contestant has changed the way he eats and it has paid off.

Bono told PEOPLE magazine that he is “still slowly losing weight.”  Chaz explained, “I’ve just changed the way I eat. Diets don’t work. You just have to change what you eat, and I have.”

The 44-year-old son of Cher and the late Sunny Bono has gone through a big transformation over the last several years.  The former Chastity Bono underwent a female to male gender transition that was documented in the 2011 television film ‘Becoming Chaz.’

Chaz appeared on ‘The Doctors’ in November to discuss his weight loss struggles that began in his 20′s.  At 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighting 250 pounds, the show experts suggested that he lose 50-80 pounds.

He recently tweeted, “What’s worked for me is, no sugar, no grains, no dairy except goat cheese, no white starches, portion control, and high intensity workouts.”

A tabloid website recently suggested that he and his mother are feuding.  In response he posted this photo with Cher and tweeted,  “I just found out, online, that my mom and I aren’t speaking. Can you tell me when Radar Online became a credible, quotable news source.”

Chaz Bono has struggled with his weight all of his adult lift and is about to embark on a public mission to shed 50 to 80 pounds with the help of the popular television show The Doctors.

Dr. Travis Stork, an ER physician and co-host on the popular syndicated talk show, sat down to interview the former DWTS celeb for an episode that will air on Nov. 14, with followup progress updates to be broadcast throughout 2013.

Cher‘s oldest child tips the scale at 250 lbs.  The 5′ 5-1/2″ activist revealed, “There was a lot of pressure to be underweight growing up.  I wasn’t an overweight child but I was still put on diets all the time.”

By going public, Bono hopes the added pressure of visibility will give him more incentive to drop a considerable amount of weight.

His father, the late Sonny Bono, was one-half of the popular 60′s and 70′s singing duo Sonny & Cher.  The couple later divorced and the entertainer went on to a successful political career representing California in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Sonny died in a skiing accident near Lake Tahoe in 1998.

Dancing with the Stars contestant Chaz Bono and fiancee Jennifer Elia have called off their engagement and are no longer a couple.

Cher’s son gave his girlfriend a ring for her birthday in June.  The event was filmed in Seattle for an episode of Being Chaz that aired Nov. 27 on the OWN network.

The two have been together for many years, initially considering themselves a lesbian couple. They have always planned to wed but the relationship suddenly got complicated when Chastity Bono decided to undergo transgender reassignment surgery.  It took them a long time to reevaluate their new relationship and earlier this year they thought they had it all figured out.

Chaz revealed, “We’ve actually been engaged for two years, but we’ve had to put things on hold.  I wanted to pick a special place to give her a special birthday present.”

Bono’s rep, Howard Bragman, made a statement to TMZ, “They leave this relationship with great love, respect and affection toward one another. No further amplification will be forthcoming and they ask that you respect their privacy at this time.”
