The 2013 Cannes Film Festival kicked off in France with an opening ceremony Wednesday that brought Hollywood celebrities flocking to the high profile event.

Director Steven Spielberg accepted an invitation to head this year’s jury that will select the 2013 winners for acting, screenplay, direction and the film of the year.

Other jury members tapped for the 66th annual event: Nicole Kidman, Christoph Waltz, Daniel Auteuil, Lynne Ramsay and Ang Lee.

The opening began with the screening of ‘The Great Gatsby,’ featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire.

Cindy Crawford graces the December 2012 cover of ‘Shape’ magazine and dare we say — the 46-year-old model still looks quite extraordinary.

Twenty years ago Crawford was featured on a 1992 cover when she was 26 and comparing the two covers, it’s easy to see that she just keeps getting better with age.

Her secret to looking good is all about fitness. Cindy offered encouragement to other women with crazy schedules: “I think a lot of women have it in their heads that if they can’t commit to a whole hour at the gym, then it’s not worth the effort. But that’s not true. Ten minutes is worth it, thirty minutes is worth it. Whatever you have time for, it’s better than nothing.”

She cautioned, “Workouts should be energizing…not make you want to take a nap, so it’s extremely important not to overdo it.”

Play day versus work day pose …

She may be only 10-years-old but Kaia Gerber has suddenly been thrust into the limelight as the face for the newly-created Young Versace fashion line.

The elementary school girl and aspiring model is the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and hotelier Rande Gerber.

Crawford issued a press release: “I’m so thrilled that Kaia was chosen to be part of the first Young Versace campaign. I have so many fond memories of the times I spent with Gianni and Donatella. There is something so very special about the House of Versace. Being on-set with my daughter watching her in front of the camera was a fantastic experience. I am so proud of her.”

Mother and daughter made their television debut in a Clairol ad in 2004, when Kaia was just a toddler.

She’s certainly not the first celebrity offspring to get an early shot at modeling. Others include Ava Sambora, Kylie and Kendall Kardashian, Cassidy Gifford and Georgia May Jagger.

Rande and Cindy date night

Actress Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber are the targets of an extortionist. The blackmailer, who has been identified as 26-year-old Edis Kayalar, is demanding $100,000 in exchange for a photo of the couple’s then 7-year-old daughter, dressed in revealing clothing, gagged and bound to a chair.

When questioned about the purported photograph, Cindy’s daughter Kaia told her that the shot was taken by her former nanny during a “cops and robbers” game. This information wasn’t revealed until Kayalar made contact with the family to demand money. In questioning the nanny, it was determined that the blackmailer is an acquaintance of hers.

The couple is working with the FBI and the U.S. attorney’s office and have filed documents with the U.S. District Court of Los Angeles. Kayalar was deported to Germany and believed to be in Stuttgart, where he continues to demand money from the couple – see his mugshot below.

U.S. authorities are aggressively working through international channels and have issued an arrest warrant against Edis Kayalar. It is possible that the nanny could also be charged, according to an FBI official who said, “I wouldn’t rule it out.” Garbe and Crawford discharged the employee after learning of the “cops and robbers” game.

Cindy Crawford, 43, and Rande Gerber, 47, have a son and daughter. Presley Walker Gerber is 10-years-old and Kaia Jordan Gerber recently turned 8.

Cindy Crawford: Rande Gerber Slapped With Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

Actress Cindy Crawford has been married for eleven years to businessman Rande Gerber. The owner of the Midnight Oil chain of bars and lounges is being sued by two former female waitresses who claim they were wrongly terminated after refusing the advances of the boss and several other male managers.

The alleged incidents occurred last year at Moonstone Lounge, located in the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego. According to documents filed by the women in San Diego County Superior Court, Gerber tried to kiss one of them three times one evening and he also put his hand up her dress. The other waitress experienced similar unprovoked sexual contact. Both women claim they rebuked the repeated advances and were fired.

A spokesman from the Gerber Group said, “These allegations were previously investigated and shown to be baseless. This lawsuit has no merit.”
