Conan O’Brien Injured VIDEO

Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien was back to work on Monday night after suffering a concussion during the taping of a triathlon stunt with Teri Hatcher for his Friday night show. Part of the segment was taped outside of the studio, culminating with the pair running in swimwear through the audience back onto the stage, where O’Brien slipped on the floor and fell backwards, hitting his head.

Like any comedian worth his stripes, O’Brien turned the event into a comedic “cautionary tale” for kids.

Conan said, “As many of you may know, on this past Friday’s show I was doing a stunt and I hit my head and suffered a slight concussion. And I promise, if you’re a good audience, I’ll do it again tonight.”

Gwyneth Paltrow and Her Very Shiny Legs

Actress and Goop.com owner Gwyneth Paltrow was a guest of Conan O’Brien last night on the Tonight Show and was sporting some very shiny legs. It looked as though the star had just greased herself up with tanning oil.

Paltrow would never have been accused of having dry skin on Thursday night. The producers of the Tonight Show must have noticed the grease covered legs because for the second part of the segment it looked as though it had been wiped off. Oops!

Conan O’Brien launched his first Tonight Show broadcast on Monday, June 1, 2009. The guest list for his first week on NBC includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Ryan Seacrest, Sheryl Crowe, John Mayer, Julia Louis Dreyfus and Bradley Cooper.

Will Ferrell, currently promoting his latest movie Land of the Lost, was on hand to kick off the start of O’Brien’s reign. Pearl Jam performed The Fixer from their new album Backspacer – check it out below.

O’Brien appeared nervous and opted to use film clips rather than a full monologue. While pacing the stage, he said, “I remember watching Johnny Carson when I was a kid and thinking: That’s what I want to be when I grow up. I’m sure right now in America there is likely a kid watching me, thinking: ‘What is wrong with that man’s hair?’”

Conan’s guests on Tuesday will include Tom Hanks and Greenday.

Jay Leno ended his 17 year career on The Tonight Show last Friday by thanking Bill Clinton, Monica Lewinsky, George W. Bush and Michael Jackson for providing outstanding monologue material. See video here.

Jay Leno Last Show (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

Wrapping up his 17 year run on The Night Show, Jay Leno was greeted by a standing ‘O’ when he took the stage. During his monologue he thanked all of the people who had helped make his show a success, particularly Michael Jackson, Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton.

Leno paid homage to his wife Mavis Nicholson by saying he was proud to be “leaving this dance with the same girl I came in with.” See bio and photos of his wife here.

Jay had some great one-liners, including a parting shot at O.J. Simpson. He reported that while he was cleaning out his office, “I found O.J.’s knife. I had it the whole time.”

Thursday night’s show featured Leno’s very first guest from 17 years ago – Billy Crystal. Check out that video here.

Conan O’Brien Bids Farewell To Late Night Show (Video)

Last night marked the end of the Late Night Show with Conan O’Brien. After 16 years Conan O’Brien is moving on. He will be taking over the helm for Jay Leno as the host of the Tonight Show beginning June 1.

Conan spent his last few shows tearing apart his set and reminiscing about some of his favorite shows.

Will Farrell and John Mayer stopped by as well as the White Stripes. Old O’Brien sidekick Andy Richter also showed up for the farewell show.

“There are people that have hosted these kinds of shows who are better than I am. Nobody has enjoyed it more than I do. It’s an incredible, amazing honor to do this show for you people. We’re going on to this next gig, and sometimes I read that it’s time for Conan to grow up because he’s going to 11:30. I assure you, that’s just not going to happen. It can’t. This is who I am, for better or for worse.”

Taking over for Conan will be former star of Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Fallon. Funny man Fallon will start his new gig on March 2nd.

Jimmy Fallon Takes Over Conan O’Brien’s Chair

On March 2nd Saturday Night Live alumni Jimmy Fallon will take over the chair of Late Night talk show host Conan O’Brien. During a New York fashion week event, Jimmy said he has already had an opportunity to test out “the chair” and is ready.

Not wanting to give away too much of what to expect, Fallon said, “We got ‘em. We got the first show. It’s gonna be good.” His crew has been busy writing monologues and guest pieces as well as overseeing the building of the set.

Jimmy’s NBC show will be titled Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and will feature show band, The Roots. The funny man is married to Nancy Juvonen.

After a short hiatus, O’Brien will be heading to L.A. to take over for Jay Leno on the Tonight Show in June.

Jay Leno Not Retiring, Will Host NBC Prime Time Talk Show

Savvy NBC chief executive Jeff Zucher is gambling that he can ‘have his cake and eat it too’. Fearing that The Tonight Show host Jay Leno would sign on with ABC, Fox or Sony television studios after abdicating to Conan O’Brien in May 2009, they created a new time slot for their cash cow.

Leno, who likely never intended to retire, will continue to broadcast from his long time Burbank studio location and will appear five night a week at 10:00 p.m. ET against CSI Miami, CSI: New York and Law & Order SVU, signing on for 46 shows per year. He will do much of what he does now and will keep his monologue, do the headlines and his Jay Walking segment.

Conan O’Brien, who has been patiently waiting in the wings, will take over The Tonight Show in a different studio on the NBC Universal lot in May. Will NBC’s little move essentially cut off his legs before he gets started? He’ll have a few months to establish himself before Leno flies out of the chute in the fall.

Work horse Leno, who doesn’t like much idle time, will have a three month hiatus to develop his new gig or cool his heels before picking up right where he left off.

The official NBC announcement is expected today.

The two biggest late night talk show hosts are forging forward. Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien will both be back on air January 2nd. The duo will not be using their writers. Since the Writers Guild of America strike began, the late shows have been airing reruns.

Both O’Brien and Leno have been paying their staff out of their own pockets since early December. Although they admit the show will not be as funny without the writers, they are making it possible for over 100 of the non-writing staff to continue working.

Both have been paying their staff out of their own pocket, so it figures they want to get a return on their investment. What better way than to put them back to work. Sounds like a win-win, even if it isn’t funny.

Conan O’Brien Stalked by Priest

Late night talk show host Conan O’Brien has been stalked for over a year by a priest from the Boston Archdiocese. The cleric was arrested last week on charges of writing threatening letters on church stationery, contacting O’Brien’s parents and trying to gain entry to a taping session at NBC’s “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” at New York Rockefeller Plaza.

The Rev. David Ajemian reportedly began stalking the comedian in September 2006 and despite being identified and told to cease the offending activities, continued to make contact with Conan and his family. The charge of aggravated harassment and stalking could land the priest in prison for one year.

The priest has been placed on leave from his church duties and has been instructed to have no contact with his parishioners.

Don’t expect to see a comedic monologue on the subject coming from the talk show host any time soon. An NBC spokesman indicates Conan O’Brien will not be commenting.
