DWTS Season 16 Winners

The ‘Dancing with the Stars’ season sixteen results are final and the winners of the mirror ball trophy are celebrity competitor Kellie Pickler and her pro partner Derek Hough.

The country singer was in a virtual dead heat with Disney teen Zendaya Coleman after each contestant was awarded a perfect score for their Instant Dance.

When all of the performance scores from the two-night competition were factored with viewer votes, it was the former ‘Idol’ alum who picked up the title and bragging rights.

Kellie seemed genuinely surprised as she exclaimed, “Oh my God!  This is amazing! Oh my God!”

Coleman, 16, proved to be unusually poised and mature.  She remained gracious in defeat, “I’m very proud.  I’m very happy and I get to leave here with an amazing experience, so I’m very happy.”

Finishing third was Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones.  He joked, “Out of all the training that I’ve had, I’ve never had a woman push me like she did,” referring to his pro partner Karina Smirnoff.

It was Hough’s fourth championship.  His previous winning partners were Brooke Burke, Nicole Scherzinger and Jennifer Grey.

Last season he and his heavily-favored Olympic gymnast partner Shawn Johnson took a big gamble by pushing the rules to the limit during the finale and ended up in second place after judge Len Goodman gave their performance a low score.

Stung by the 11th hour implosion, Derek seriously considered not returning for season sixteen.  He revealed Monday night that he had a hunch about partnering with Kellie Pickler.  The rest, as they say …. is history.

Kellie Pickler Dancing with the Stars

During night-one of the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ season finale, country singing sweetheart Kellie Pickler and her pro partner Derek Hough brought the audience to tears with their final performance of the evening.

Their “super-sized” freestyle performance was flawless and left them with a perfect score of 30. Carrie Ann Inaba sobbed as the former ‘Idol’ alum rushed over to give her a hug.

Inaba finally managed, “Kellie, you just bared your soul on the dance floor and it was one of the most beautiful things that I have ever seen.”

Judge Len Goodman stood and gave the pair a personal standing ovation. “Good dancing engages the brain, great dancing engages the heart. You were totally immersed in the dance, in each other, you drew everyone into that performance.”

In total agreement with his peers, Bruno Tonioli called the performance, “a dance of spellbinding beauty” and “a contemporary work of art.”

Derek Hough has danced three previous partners to victory — Brooke Burke, Nicole Scherzinger and Jennifer Grey.  The talented pro admitted on Monday’s show that he nearly opted out of this season but something in his gut told him that things would be special because of Kelly Pickler.

Team Pickler-Hough receiving six 10′s last night but they had stiff competition from 16-year-old Disney star Zendaya Coleman and her pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy, who lead the pack by a single point going into tonight’s live championship event on ABC 9/8c.

Who do you think will take home the coveted mirror ball?  Will it be Aly Raisman, Kellie Pickler, Jacoby Jones or Zendaya Coleman?

Watch Kellie and Derek’s exquisite performance below starting at the 2:20 mark:

The winner will be named in a two-hour finale tonight with guest performances by Pitbull, Jessica Sanchez, Psy and eliminated season 16 contestant Wynonna.

Aly Raisman gets special Twitter shout out

‘Dancing with the Stars’ season 16 finalist Alexandra ‘Aly’ Raisman got a special Twitter shoutout from some future Olympic gymnasts.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  The USA Gymnastics organization hit twitter to post an image that brought a smile to Raisman’s face.  It was a photo featuring 36 “Development Campers” who sprawled on the gym floor and formed the words, “Good Luck Aly” with their intertwined bodies.

Aly tweeted, “@USA Gym so cute! Next 2020 Olympians.”

The other three celebrities competing tonight in the first of a two-night event are Kellie Pickler, Jacoby Jones and Zendaya Coleman.

Aly Raisman gets 11th hour drug test

Olympic gymnast Alexandra “Aly” Raisman could not believe it when the World Anti-Doping Agency showed up to collect a urine sample during finale week on ‘Dancing with the Stars.’

She had little choice in the matter because a denial would have automatically made her ineligible for the 2016 Summer Games in Rio.

The 18-year-old told Access Hollywood that the drop-in tests are supposed to be random.  That said, she thinks it is more than a coincidence that a tester appeared a few days before she and her pro partner Mark Ballas compete for the mirror ball trophy.

She said, “It’s the World Anti-Doping Agency.  They haven’t tested me since the Olympics, and they choose the finale week of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ to come!  Out of all the days since the Olympics, they choose like, the craziest week.”

While the timing of the request didn’t feel right to the athlete, Raisman claims she really doesn’t mind.  “I’m clean, so I don’t have anything to worry about.”  She’ll receive the results in four to six weeks.

The finale kicks off Monday, May 20 8/7 c on ABC.  Raisman will compete against Kellie Pickler, Zendaya Coleman and Jacoby Jones.

Ingo Rademacher booted during semi-finals

During the semi-final elimination last night on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ soap actor Ingo Rademacher and his pro partner Kym Johnson learned that they will not get a chance to compete next week in the Season 16 finale.

The final four celebrity contestants are Disney star Zendaya Coleman, NFL wide receiver Jacoby Jones, country music singer Kellie Pickler and Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman.

DWTS Season 16 Final Four

The finalists and their pro partners will perform a Favorite Dance, Super-Sized Freestyle and an Instant Dance.

There will be live performances by Pitbull, Psy, ‘Idol’ alum Jessica Sanchez and country singer Wynonna Judd–who had the dubious distinction of being the first one eliminated this season.

Vegas odds put 16-year-old Zendaya Coleman in the drivers seat to take home the mirror ball trophy, followed by Kellie, Aly and Jacoby in that order.

We agree with Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, who predict that Pickler will prevail!
