David Archuleta’s Father and The Prostitute

This is probably not the kind of press that American Idol runner-up David Archuleta is looking for in his budding career. It has just been revealed that David’s father James Archuleta was arrested in January 2009, during a raid at a prostitution house.

Here is what we know; Detective Sgt. John Salazar of Midvale Police Department is speaking out on the incident:

“He was just finishing up in suite number one. I sent two officers in and the male was on his stomach on the table with a masseuse in lace underwear. He was asked if he received any sexual favors and he said he had.”

At that moment he probably should have uttered, “Umm, no officer…I was just getting a massage.” James Archuleta received a $582 fine for his part in the little indiscretion. No word on the punishment imposed on the scantily clad prostitute.

Archuleta’s lawyer is singing a different tune on the whole situation, saying that the senior Archuleta, suffering from back problems, only went for a massage and that no sexual acts were performed. Seems like too little, too late from the legal eagle.

American Idol star David Archuleta has finally come out with the much anticipated first single Crush. The song debut was this morning on radio program Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.

Early consensus from listeners is that the teen is going to have a big hit on his hands. Archuleta was said to be shaking like a leaf at the studio in anticipation of his songs debut. He’ll likely get over that after he has a few number one hits under his belt.

American Idol runner-up David ‘Archie’ Archuleta has just hit the big time. The seventeen year old signed a recording contract with 19 Recordings/Jive Records, the same label that signed Idol winner David Cook. Both will be recording albums for Fall release.

Archie’s stage father has been busy behind the scenes trying to put together a concert back in Utah. The venue was reportedly set for the E Center in West Valley City. Something has caused Jeff Archuleta to do a dump and run before any tickets were sold for the event.

Sounds like the record label didn’t want it to happen or the American Idol franchise may have nixed it. The teen is contractually obligated to participate in the AI summer tour with the rest of the top ten contestants.

Sounds like the stage daddy got a little overzealous in his desire to see his son hit the big time and got the rug pulled out from under him before he could make it happen.

American Idol judge Simon Cowell isn’t the only one on the hit show to say exactly what comes to his mind. The big boss Nigel Lythgoe is taking his turn at causing a stir, slamming not only the contestants but President George W. Bush too.

Lythgoe spoke to OK! and compared new winner David Cook to alum Daughtry, saying that he has a chance at stardom only if he were to get some personality. OUCH! Not one to leave anyone out, he threw David Archuleta in the mix and said they both “suffer from a lack of on stage charisma.” Lythgoe is hoping that the boys use the American Idol Live tour this summer to “put a unique sparkle into their performances.”

The second annual Idol Gives Back aired in April and keeping with tradition, it didn’t go without a little drama. This time the drama was over the U.S. President taking part in Idol Gives Back.

The producers of the show were reportedly “embarrassed” to have George W. Bush on the show because of his disappointing efforts to combat poverty. Lythgoe said that there was some pressure from the White House and stated:

We didn’t ask the President this year to say anything because we are all a bit embarrassed about him, and the office insisted that, because the (primary) candidates were on it, the President would like to come on and say thank you.”

Give Back has raised $142 million that will go toward projects in the U.S. and Africa.

The year was 1983 and the movie was Risky Business. Tom Cruise played a suburban Chicago teenager who is left home while his parents leave on a vacation. The most memorable scene in the movie has the actor rocking out in his underwear to the strains of Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seger.

It has been 25 years since that scene was played out on movie screens. Last week on the finale of American Idol season seven, David Archuleta and David Cook reenacted that very scene for a Guitar Hero commercial. We’ve got the two video ads and have included Tom Cruise’s original Risky Business underwear scene.

David Cook told Larry King that shooting the ad was brutal on his knees. Apparently Cook had to jump off the coffee table and land on his knees multiple times before he got it right. Check out Achuleta, Cook and Cruise doing the underwear dance in the videos below.

American Idol contestant David Archuleta has a definite lip licking obsession. In the video above, some extremely bored person took the time to put together a video compilation of David licking his lips over and over again.

I am a big fan of American Idol and things like this wreck it for me. Now the lip licking is the only thing I will be focusing on when Archuleta performs.

Last night’s performance of Imagine, sung by 17 year old David Archuleta, was so great that he is now all the talk of American Idol lovers everywhere. Many are even calling him the winner and the season has just begun.

Lucky for David, he has a huge fan base from the 10-16 year old girls, who by the way were going crazy last night after his performance. Another thing David has going for him is that he has not been a part of the Mickey Mouse Club and may have a shot at a legit career.

David’s vocal coach Dean Kaelin talked to Page Six about meeting David at age 11 and how much he has come out of his shell since that time. Kaelin said that David had very few friends when he was young but that once his class heard him sing, he became very popular.
