Kim Johnston Reacts to Being Dumped by David Cook

Kim Johnston, the 35-year-old Atlanta model that American Idol season 7 winner David Cook had been secretly seeing, is speaking out about their “break up.”

Cook, 26, and Johnston became friends on Myspace in August 2008, and met in person for the first time shortly after — in David’s hotel in New York City, where Kim spent the night.

The two continued to see each other “as often as their busy schedules would allow,” until Page Six outed them.

Kim says there was “a big change in David’s attitude” after their romance became public knowledge, and it wasn’t long before he cut ties with the model, telling her in a text, “Dude, I’m losing fans over this!”

“David changed my life in so many good ways,” Kim tells Star magazine, “But I also can’t forget my feeling of abandonment, when I was being slammed left and right. I’ve never had a man treat me as if he was ashamed to be associated with me!”

“I know David is a good person,” says Kim. “I hope he gets to the point where pleasing his fans doesn’t affect his happiness!”

Ummm, here’s the thing, Kim…you met him in person for the first time in his hotel room, he didn’t acknowledge you publicly, he only saw you when he could fit you into his “busy schedule,” he cut you loose when people found out you were sleeping together, AND HE CALLED YOU “DUDE” in a text message explaining why he was dumping you! What part of “booty call” and “holla back girl” is it you don’t understand?

David Cook’s Brother Adam Cook Has Died (Video)

American Idol season seven winner David Cook has lost his oldest brother Adam Cook to brain cancer. David announced his brothers passing this morning in Washington D.C., where he was serving as grand marshal at the 12th Annual Race For Hope 5K walk/run event.

The eldest of the three Cook brothers had battled the disease since 1998 and died at 1:00 a.m. on May 3, 2009. David Cook took the podium and addressed the crowd by saying, “I actually lost my brother yesterday to a brain tumor and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else right now. I lost one today but I gained 9,000 and I will be here every year that they will have me.”

Adam Cook, 36, practiced law in Terre Haute, Indiana. He is survived by his wife Kendra Cowen-Cook and their two children, Gage and Gracie.

David Cook also ran in the D.C. event. His team raised more than $40,000 for the cause. Check out David Cook in Washington D.C. earlier today in video below.

Settlement Reached in Brinkley-Cook Divorce Trial

Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook have put an end to their divorce trial after their lawyers spent the night in intense negotiations. It looks like both sides have had enough of trashing each other in court.

A settlement was finally reached this morning at 6:15 a.m. The details on the agreement are going to be revealed in court sometime today.

Cook and Brinkley were both seen last night at the same Long Island hotel and a source says that they even exchanged a few words.

Christie ended her union with Peter when she found out about his affair with his assistant Diana Bianchi, who is now 21 years old.

David Cook will appear in an upcoming issue of Rolling Stone magazine. The June 26th issue features an interview with the American Idol Season Seven winner and gives some insight into his mindset going into the competition and now that he has captured the crown.

Cook received 55 million votes from his adoring fans – Hillary Clinton should have been so lucky! The AI winner wants you to know that he didn’t have a burning desire to be the next Idol. Rather, he appeared at an AI audition in Omaha, NE, as moral support for his brother, Andrew. Cook laughs at the news media’s insistence that he has become an instant success story. He said during an interview in NYC:

The overnight thing is nice and romantic, but in this particular instance, it’s not the case.”

Cook first sang in public as a second grader, and he played first the violin, and next, the guitar, during his childhood. He entered talent contests and formed his first band as a freshman in high school. He has been all about entertainment people since he was a elementary school kid.

The AI title earned Cook a record deal with 19 Recordings/RCA. Eleven of his Idol competition songs registered on Billboard’s Hot 100 according to Rolling Stone – a record only once before bested by the Beatles in 1964.

David has been compared to AI alum Chris Daughtry. He told Rolling Stone: “I don’t want to make a Chris Daughtry record, I want to make a David Cook record. I feel like I know who I am.”

Do we detect a little bit of attitude? We get that you didn’t ask for it and now that you’ve gotten it you’ll chart your own course and be your own man. Kelly Clarkson had that same attitude when she won the title. She managed to short circuit a promising career that may never recover. Tread lightly David Cook.

American Idol judge Simon Cowell isn’t the only one on the hit show to say exactly what comes to his mind. The big boss Nigel Lythgoe is taking his turn at causing a stir, slamming not only the contestants but President George W. Bush too.

Lythgoe spoke to OK! and compared new winner David Cook to alum Daughtry, saying that he has a chance at stardom only if he were to get some personality. OUCH! Not one to leave anyone out, he threw David Archuleta in the mix and said they both “suffer from a lack of on stage charisma.” Lythgoe is hoping that the boys use the American Idol Live tour this summer to “put a unique sparkle into their performances.”

The second annual Idol Gives Back aired in April and keeping with tradition, it didn’t go without a little drama. This time the drama was over the U.S. President taking part in Idol Gives Back.

The producers of the show were reportedly “embarrassed” to have George W. Bush on the show because of his disappointing efforts to combat poverty. Lythgoe said that there was some pressure from the White House and stated:

We didn’t ask the President this year to say anything because we are all a bit embarrassed about him, and the office insisted that, because the (primary) candidates were on it, the President would like to come on and say thank you.”

Give Back has raised $142 million that will go toward projects in the U.S. and Africa.

This morning he stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres Show and performed Collective Soul’s “The World I Know.”

Simon Cowell turned out to be WRONG. Tuesday night he did everything possible to crown David Archuleta the new American Idol. He may be Simon’s guy but it turns out that David Cook won by a monumental margin of 12 million votes over his 17 year old competitor. Not even close folks.

We don’t know if the judges had any inkling on Wednesday evening that the tide had swelled for 25 year old Cook, but Cowell was immediately contrite at the start of the show and offered up an apology saying that he had viewed the show at home after Tuesday night’s performance and realized he may have been too clear cut in his pronouncements. Ya think?

Cook’s brother Adam, who is battling cancer, was on hand to see his brother win. He was instrumental in getting his bro David to try out for the Idol show and was clearly thrilled with the outcome. Full story of Adam HERE.

American Idol season 7 came down to the battle of the Davids. 25-year-old David Cook and 17-year-old David Archuleta gave it their all, but in the end, there can be only one.

While I thought David Cook had an edge most of the season, David Archuleta knocked it out of the ballpark on Tuesday night’s three rounds of head-to-head competition. Archuleta was “on.” Vocally he proved to be the stronger of the two, but in the end it wasn’t enough to take away Cook’s lead.

Before Wednesday night’s announcement of the American Idol season seven winner, Cook had the opportunity to perform with rock legends ZZ Top and Archuleta performed with newcomers OneRepublic.

Congratulations to American Idol season seven winner David Cook!
