Demi Lovato returning to X Factor

‘X Factor’ creator Simon Cowell and the FOX network have confirmed that Demi Lovato will return as a panel member for Season 3 of the singing competition.

Following a lackluster second season it seemed to be a perfect time for a talent shakeup.  L.A. Reid and Britney Spears were not offered contract extensions and it remains unclear if co-hosts Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez will be returning.

The on-air chemistry between the ‘KUWTK’ reality star and the ‘Extra’ host seemed shaky at best throughout their two-month stint.  The ‘Saved By The Bell’ celeb was clearly comfortable and definitely in his element but he didn’t seem at all interested in bonding with his rookie counterpart.

A rivalry ensued between Cowell and Lovato last season but it was apparently all for show.  Simon acknowledged, “I couldn’t be happier that Demi wants to come back this year.  She’s a superstar in her own right and was a fantastic mentor last year.”

He went on to say, “Even though she can be really, really annoying — I truly enjoyed working with her and so did the artists.  I’m especially pleased she’s back, even during her world tour!”

Demi is slated to drop her fourth studio album in May 2013.  She released the first single ‘Heart Attack’ in February.  The electropop love song uses cardiac arrest as a metaphor for lovesickness.

Demi Lovato hit Twitter last night to share her new ‘do, a fringe of chunky bangs that replaces the side swirl look that she rocked on the ‘Conan’ show earlier this week.

The ‘X Factor’ celeb tweeted:

In an attempt to attract younger viewers, Simon Cowell signed the 20-year-old to appear each week alongside pop princess Britney Spears on season two of ‘X Factor.’ They are up against some stiff competition in a head-to-head battle against the popular NBC show ‘The Voice.’

Back to Demi’s bangs … do we love them?

Demi Lovato will join Britney Spears as a judge on “The X Factor” in the upcoming season.

The 19-year-old Disney star was joined by Spears as the announcement was made at the Fox network upfronts presentation at the Beacon Theatre in NYC just moments ago.

While Fox execs would not confirm earlier today whether or not Lovato and Spears would be in attendance at the Beacon Theatre, they stressed the need to make the series more “entertaining” and “exciting,” something they believe a new jolt of talent at the judges’ table can do.

“Well, we delivered,” says Simon Cowell. “This year we are seriously going to kick butt.”

Demi Lovato has joined forces with Aeropostale to get kids engaged in donating their cast off jeans to a good cause.

DoSomething.org and the popular teen brand started the campaign as a rally call to school kids across the country to drop off gently worn jeans at their local Aeropostale store, where they will be donated to local shelters within the same community.

The school donating the most jeans between Jan. 16 and Feb. 12 will win a $5,000 prize and each student will get a free pair of Aeropostale jeans.  Sounds like a sweet deal.
