DJ AM MTV Series ‘Gone Too Far’ Will Air

On August 28, 2009, Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM was found dead in his New York apartment from an apparent overdose. Sadly, at the time of his death Adam had been working on a documentary for MTV called Gone Too Far. The show dealt with young people struggling with addiction.

The following statement was released by MTV on behalf of the Goldstein family regarding their decision to go forward with the documentary:

“After careful consideration we have decided to air the show. Adam felt strongly that by doing this series he could help other addicts who were at a crisis point to get sober. Adam was fully aware that if it were not for his own sobriety he never would have achieved the level of success and happiness he had found. Helping people in their recovery was a huge part of Adam’s life.”

The Goldstein’s admit that this decision was very difficult but truly believe that it will inspire others to seek help.

The MTV show will air on October 12th at 10 p.m. We will be tuning in, such a tragedy.

DJ AM Limited Edition Nike Dunks Deal On Hold (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Since the passing of Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM on August 28th, Nike has put the breaks on releasing a shoe line designed by the DJ. Goldstein had been working with Nike for the past few months on a limited edition line of Nike Dunks that features his own logo emblazoned on the sneakers.

The shoe design is complete and had the approval of Goldstein but now Nike is working with his family to come up with “next step in terms of release.” Adam was the proud owner of close to 700 pairs of Nike’s.

ADAM GOLDSTEIN DJ AM 1973-2009

New York officials released the body of DJ AM to his family on Saturday. A private funeral for Goldstein was held on Wednesday at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary in West L.A. A public memorial service will be held Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Hollywood Palladium. The celebration of life will be in the style of an open 12-step meeting.

The invitation message, “Adam’s friends both from his life in recovery, as well as those from other areas of this life are welcome. We ask only that everyone adhere to the tradition of anonymity and let what they hear there, and who they see there, stay there.”

Adam Goldstein was reportedly taking Xanax and other anxiety medication to treat the ongoing psychological effects he has suffered from the Learjet crash last year in South Carolina that claimed the lives of four people. He had been given prescriptions to combat his fear of flying and was also reportedly suffering from a post traumatic disorder and from a condition known as ’survivor guilt’. The drugs are reported to have triggered a “recent” relapse in his decade long sobriety.

DJ AM reportedly started missing appointments and acting erratically in recent weeks. The behavior was so startling that his West Coast manager and addiction recovery sponsor flew from L.A. to NYC on a red eye flight Wednesday night to confront their friend and colleague. Goldstein refused to let his manager into his apartment but did let his recovery sponsor pay him a visit on Thursday.

Goldstein promised his sponsor that he would check himself into rehab after his scheduled Las Vegas gig slated for Friday night at the Palms Casino Resort. DJ AM never made the flight to Sin City, which caused his travel companions to alert police, who discovered his body along with small plastic bags filled with Vicodin, oxycodone, Xanax and lorazepam strewn about in his apartment.

He reportedly had ingested eight OxyContin pills that were found in his stomach, and one was discovered in his mouth, according to a law enforcement source. The officer said, “He wanted to die. He was going unconscious when he took the last one. He didn’t even swallow it.” According to the New York City Coroner’s Office, toxicology test results will take several weeks.

Goldstein’s girlfriend, model Hayley Wood, has shot down rumors that suggested their recent breakup was a direct result of his use of drugs. She claims that fact had “absolutely nothing to do with their recent break-up.” View photos of the couple here.

DJ had a collection of over 700 Nike sneakers and had recently worked with the shoe giant to design a limited edition Dunk shoe with his logo on the side. The launch is temporarily on hold while Nike works with Goldstein’s family to figure out the right way to market the Nike Dunk – see details and photos here.

Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM 1973-2009

Twenty-two year old model Hayley Wood had been in a relationship with Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM since October 2008. The couple split within the past few weeks after spending time in France. Sadly, DJ AM died of a drug overdose on Friday afternoon, August 28, 2009 at his apartment in New York City.

The recent breakup reportedly left Goldstein an emotional wreck who had been battling post-traumatic stress after the plane crash last year and was also reported to be suffering from a condition known as ‘survivor guilt‘.

Goldstein, 36, was discovered face down and shirtless at 5:30 p.m. in his 7th floor SoHo apartment after authorities were asked to do a welfare check at the urging of a friend who was concerned that something might be wrong. The New York City Medical Examiner’s Office removed DJ AM’s body at 11:30 p.m. Friday night – see photos below.

DJ AM had thrown out the first pitch at Citi Field last Sunday, prior to the Mets game in NYC and had recently finished shooting an MTV reality show where he offered a hand up to drug addicts on Gone Too Far – see video footage below.

Hayley Wood was photographed leaving Goldstein’s apartment, looking distraught and being led away from the death scene by two unidentified men.

Goldstein was ready to launch a limited edition Nike Dunk but the shoe giant has put the launch on hold – see the design here.

Adam Goldstein, better known as DJ AM, was found dead in his New York City apartment Friday, August 28, 2009.

Goldstein was found in his seventh floor SoHo apartment around 5:20 p.m., surrounded by prescription drug bottles and drug paraphernalia. A friend who had not heard from him in a few days went to check on him and called authorities when he got no response.

New York City firemen broke down the door and found DJ AM dead.

DJ AM’s death comes nearly a year after he and Travis Barker were involved in a plane crash in South Carolina. The two were the only survivors of the crash.

On February 13, Goldstein narrowly escaped death again. He was supposed to board Continental flight 3407, but had a bad feeling and decided to drive to his destination instead. That plane crashed 5 miles from the Buffalo Airport, killing 50 people.

Goldstein, who famously dated Nicole Richie and Mandy Moore, had battled drug addiction in the past and revealed earlier this year he had attempted suicide while high on crack cocaine when he was 24.

On Friday, August 25th at 2:57 p.m., DJ AM posted his final Tweet on Twitter:

“New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems.”

Hollywood is shocked by DJ AM’s death, and celebrities are taking to Twitter to post messages:

John Mayer: In complete shock.

Lindsay Lohan: i can’t believe this.. i’m in shock. why? why? r.i.p. adam.

Alyssa Milano: May you rest in peace, Adam. You touched many with your light and will be missed like crazy.

Ryan Seacrest: So sad the hear about adam. a very kind and generous guy.

Dr. Drew: I lack the words to describe my feelings.

Ashton Kutcher: much love to my boy AM.

Soliel Moon Frye: Thank you for bringing so much music and inspiration to peoples lives. Rip Dj Am.

Heidi Montag: my thoughts and prayers are with DJ AM’s family and friends.

Shanna Moakler: My deepest condolences for DJ AM, you were a great artist and will be severely missed. My thoughts and Prayers to his family and friends.

DJ AM was 36-years-old.

DJ AM Just Missed Second Plane Crash

Sixth sense? Call it what you will but Adam Goldstein aka DJ AM was supposed to be on Continental flight 3407 that crashed just 5 miles from the Buffalo Airport on February 13th, killing 50 people.

Just last September Adam and former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker were the only surviving passengers on a Lear Jet heading to the Van Nuys airport. The crash killed four people.

On Friday the 13th, Goldstein was to board flight 3407 and evidently had a bad feeling and decided to drive to his destination instead. TMZ is reporting that Adam said that from here on out his flying days are over and will only book events that he would be able to drive to.

We are thinking that is a good idea!

DJ AM and Travis Barker New Year’s Eve Reunion

This is great news for the only two survivors of the horrific plane crash that claimed the lives of four others. Drummer Travis Barker and DJ AM are reuniting to perform for the New Year’s Nation’s Los Angeles New Year’s Eve party at The Lot in West Hollywood.

New Year’s Eve parties nationwide will be able to broadcast the reunion, which will be streamed on the Internet. This will be the first performance for Travis and Adam since the crash. The duo last combined their talents at a free concert which hosted 10,000 fans in Columbia, South Carolina.

Travis posted a message on his blog over Thanksgiving weekend, saying:

“I wanted to say thanks…and share my gratitude for everything I’ve been blessed with. Family, friends, and continued support from everyone. Thank you for life, and all the little ups and downs that make it worth living. My best to everyone.”

Mandy Moore and Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM, are back together again. The couple dated in 2007 for several months but then parted ways. Moore recently ended a relationship with rocker Ryan Adams.

The couple decided that life was too short to remain apart after the horrific plane crash that nearly claimed Goldstein’s life. The actress flew across country to be at Adam’s bedside when she heard about the plane crash and they were able to reconnect.

We’ve got photos of the couple taking in Friendly House’s 10th Annual Awards Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton on October 18, 2008. Mandy has also been making the rounds at other events over the past few days and we’ve got the pics.

Travis Barker Makes Memorial T-Shirts

Travis Barker, the former drummer for the band Blink 182, is remembering his close friends Chris Baker and Charles “Che” Still who died in the tragic September plane crash. Barker and good friend DJ Adam Goldstein were the only survivors while 4 others lost their lives.

Already the owner of the famous clothing line Stars and Strips, Barker has commissioned the creation of special t-shirts with the names Chris and Che on the front. He is donating 100% of the profits to their families. Chris was Barker’s personal assistant and Che was a security guard.

The sale of the shirts begins on October 13th and they will be available for a limited time on Barker’s website. Check it out here. The design of the shirts was done by pro skater Felix Arguelles and famous artist Maxx “maxx242″ Gramajo.

Travis Barker is heard pleading for help in a videotape following the fiery plane crash that killed four people and sent Barker and Adam DJ AM Goldstein to the hospital in critical condition.

Travis Barker can be heard crying for help on the police dash-cam video, taken in the aftermath of the fatal plane crash.

“Get an ambulance man. Get an ambulance. Ahhhhh,” Barker is heard pleading in the horrifying tape.

It has now been learned that a faulty tire may have caused the deadly crash.
