Elton John Has E-Coli and Flu, Cancels Face 2 Face Concerts

Elton John has been forced to cancel several shows in the UK and has postponed three upcoming concerts in Seattle and Portland. The singer has been ill with an e-coli bacterial infection and influenza, according to his official website. He is currently hospitalized in London. His rep indicates the singer hopes to be performing again later in November.

The 62-year-old musician is performing with Billy Joel on their combined Face 2 Face arena tour. The canceled shows, originally slated for Wednesday, November 4, Saturday, November 7, and Tuesday, November 10, will likely be rescheduled for December.

Elton John to Adopt Ukrainian Baby

Sixty-two year old singer Elton John and his partner David Furnish are thinking about adopting a son from the Ukraine. While the two toured an orphanage recently, they fell in love with a baby boy named Lev.

Elton addressed the Ukrainian press and stated that Furnish has wanted to adopt for some time but John has always said no because of his extremely busy schedule. “But, having seen Lev today, I would love to adopt him. I don’t know how we do that, but he has stolen my heart. And he has stolen David’s heart and it would be wonderful if we could have a home. I’ve changed my mind today.”

Many of the children at the orphanage have lost their parents to AIDS. As part of Elton John’s AIDS Foundation work, he was there performing for the children.

Elton, may we suggest calling Madonna or Angelina Jolie – they surely could point you and David in the right direction.

Unlikely Friends: Elton John and Eminem (VIDEO)

Legendary singer Elton John and wise cracking rapper Eminem might not seem like they would ever forge a friendship, but not only are they friends, they are extremely close. In fact, Elton has stood by Eminem’s side throughout his quest to kick his drug addiction.

After the rapper returned home from his second hospital stay, he knew that this was the end of the line and that he was never going to use again. He turned to Elton, who has also had past addiction problems, for support and friendship.

Years ago, Eminem and Elton performed together at the Grammy Awards and have stayed in close contact ever since. Knowing the struggle was going to be tough for Eminem, the Candle in the Wind singer called him several times a week, giving him advice on distancing himself from performing, as well as encouraging him to get “time under his belt” before jumping back into the limelight.

Elton John Bids Farewell to Las Vegas Show

Taking the stage for the last time at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas last night, Elton John bid a fond farewell to his audience after five years of performing in Sin City. The singer initially signed on to do 75 shows but he was so popular that the contract was quickly extended and he ended up doing a run of 241 packed performances.

For his final show, Elton sat at his red piano and he wore a black and red jacket with Las Vegas Pirates on the back and Captain Elton on the sleeve.

Who will step into his shoes at Caesars? Bette Midler and Cher are both currently entertaining at the venue. John said he would like to see Celine Dion return. The Rocket Man even suggested The Village People would step in. We’re not sure if he was serious…..but the idea is interesting.

Sir Elton John has been honored in just about every possible way and now he is being immortalized with his own ice cream. Cool treat kings Ben & Jerry have created a new flavor that will commemorate his first ever concert in Vermont.

The Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road flavor is inspired by the Candle in the Wind hitmaker’s first ever concert in Vermont on July 21, 2008.

The flavor is described as an outrageous symphony of decadent chocolate ice cream, peanut butter cookie dough, butter brickle and white chocolate chunks. The limited edition taste treat will be sold from July 18-25th.

Elton John joins Phish, Jerry Garcia and Dave Matthews, who have all had Ben & Jerry flavors named after them.

Judging from the picture above, I must say Sir Elton John is looking right at home in his pink tutu. The music legend was on hand in Sydney this week for the opening night performance of Billy Elliot The Musical. Elton lent his huge talents and wrote the musical score.

John, along with longtime companion/husband David Furnish, have been in Australia for a month now. I am sure having Sir Elton John involved with your production can’t hurt sales.

Larry Birkhead Borrows Elton John’s Wig

What the hell happened to Larry Birkhead’s hair? It looks like he is either overstyling his hair or he borrowed Elton John’s hairpiece.

Who knows, maybe he wants to look taller – he looks like a girl.

Police Take Away Elton John’s Art

Elton John has been under heavy scrutiny lately. Police seized one of Elton’s paintings at a gallery in London. The picture was of two naked young girls. The picture was part of award-winning photographer Nan Goldin’s collection.

John confirmed ownership of “Klara and Edda Belly-Dancing” in a statement on his Web site. He said it is among 149 images comprising Goldin’s “Thanksgiving” installation.

Northumbria police said the photo was taken from the BALTIC Center for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, northeastern England. They confirmed Tuesday that an image had been taken from an exhibit “to assess whether or not an offense had been committed.”

Both Goldin and the gallery have declined to comment.

“The photograph exists as part of the installation as a whole and has been widely published and exhibited throughout the world,” the 60-year-old rocker said.
