Jenna Bush Hager delivers daughter Mila

Former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager, 31, and her husband Henry Hager welcomed a 6 pound, 15 ounce daughter on Saturday night at a Manhattan hospital.

The couple did not know the gender of their baby until she arrived over the weekend.  A few days ago Jenna said at her baby shower, “I really love the relationship I have with my mother, so to have a daughter would be special.”

Former President George W. Bush confirmed the news on Facebook: “Laura and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our grandchild, Margaret Laura “Mila” Hager.  Mila, daughter of Jenna and Henry Hager, is named for her grandmothers.”

“She was born last night, April 13, at 8:43 pm in New York City.  We met our beautiful granddaughter today.  Jenna and Mila are healthy and our family is elated.”

The TODAY show released exclusive images and video this morning — getting the scoop because Jenna is a special NBC correspondent who appears regularly on the morning show.

Jenna’s twin sister Barbara Bush, the co-founder of Global Health Corps., is a first time Aunt.

TODAY special correspondent Jenna Bush Hager gave the NBC morning show the exclusive confirmation that she and Henry Hager are expecting a springtime baby.

The 31-year-old twin daughter of former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, got teary eyed as she was joined on the set by her husband, who was carrying a floral bouquet that he presented to her.

Admitting that she is “hormonal” and surprised that they were able to keep the secret under wraps for so long, the mother-to-be announced, “I’m nervous and so excited to say that we’re pregnant… I’m pregnant.  I’m a first time mother and it’s something I’ve always wanted.”

In a phone conversation that was broadcast live from Dallas, viewers heard Jenna’s parents gush about being first time grandparents and we also learned that she calls her dad “Popsicle.”

When Matt Lauer asked W what he wants his grandkids to call him, he quipped, “Sir.”  He was quick to add, “Yeah, I’m fired up, looking forward to it.”

A British website broke the story yesterday – baby bump photos here.

According to an exclusive report by The Daily Mail, Jenna Bush Hager is pregnant.  She is the wife of Henry Hager and the daughter of former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.

The 31-year-old TODAY special correspondent is the twin sister of Barbara Bush, who was named for her Texas grandmother who is also a former First Lady.

We’ve included recent photos of Jenna from the UNICEF Snowflake Ball held in Manhattan two week ago and we’ll admit they do seem to suggest a new roundness and fuller figure.

Hager wed in 2008 and has felt some pressure from her parents to give them grandchildren.  She joked last year during an interview: “My dad saw my husband’s boss at a conference, and he said to stop paying my husband until we produce children.”

So far there has been no official confirmation from Jenna and Henry.  Check out more photos and let us know what you think … yes? no? maybe?

Developing story…
