Jessica Seinfeld Veggie Lawsuit Dropped

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld’s wife Jessica found herself in the middle of a copyright lawsuit over her book “Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food.” Yesterday a federal judge threw the suit out.

Missy Chase Lapine filed litigation against Jessica Seinfeld, saying that she copied her idea about sneaking vegetables into children’s food. Lapine submitted two book proposals to HarperCollins and was turned down before Jessica’s book was released.

Lapine went on to work with another book publisher and released her book, “The Sneaky Chef: Simple Strategies For Hiding Healthy Foods in Kids’ Favorite Meals.”

The suit accused Jessica of copyright infringement as well as trademark violation and unfair competition. The judge did see similarities in the books but could not conclude that there was any wrongdoing.

Seinfeld’s lawyer said that this lawsuit did not come until Jessica’s book hit the #1 best seller list and added that the plaintiff even sold more copies than his client.

Lapine’s lawyer said they are trying to decided if they will appeal the judge’s decision.

Seinfeld Cast Joins Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm

The cast of the former hit show Seinfeld have come together again to entertain us. This time our favorite foursome will be showcasing their talents on Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyus, Michael Richards and Jason Alexander began shooting last month. The crew will be in multiple episodes of HBO’s CYE, which airs this fall.

Julia spoke with E! and said it feels like they never left and that it has been fun working together again. The actress kept tight lipped on the story line and couldn’t even reveal if their characters would resemble those on Seinfeld.

We definitely plan to watch because this will surely be entertaining – they are all geniuses in our book.

Jerry Seinfeld flipped his vintage 1967 Fiat BTM Saturday night while driving in East Hampton, NY. The accident occurred around 7:40pm after the brakes failed.

The comedian unsuccessfully tried using the emergency brake and cut the wheel to the right to avoid heading into traffic, causing the car to roll, stopping just short of the intersection. Fortunately, the comedian walked away unharmed.

According to Jerry’s wife, Jessica:

“He was a little shocked when he walked in and it started to dawn on him what happened,” she said. “I was extremely relieved and grateful and I’m feeling very lucky that nothing happened.”

“It could have been a lot worse, obviously, and thank God it wasn’t. He’s fine,” she said.

Seinfeld is an avid car collector and is reported to own 47 Porsches. Now that we know Jerry is okay, the real mystery of this story is not how he walked away from the accident unscathed, but what is a 1967 Fiat BTM? It is apparently a hard top version of the Fiat Dino, pictured below.

Tom Cruise and Jerry Seinfeld have been chumming it up in New York City recently. With all the hoopla surrounding Scientology, we have to wonder if Cruise is putting the bums rush to Seinfeld and his wife in hopes of earning a few more converts.

The couples enjoyed a dinner out on Tuesday evening at Sfoglia on the Upper East Side. The following day, the actors visited a garage that houses Seinfeld’s car collection, as seen in the photo. The two families have digs in Telluride, Colorado and that is where the friendship apparently got started. Seinfeld is said to have dabbled in Scientology some 30 years ago. He claims not to know that much but he liked it. Say no more. Tom Cruise to the rescue.

We’ve heard and seen evidence that Cruise is at the top of the Scientology echelon, reportedly the second most powerful member. We’ve now seen the recruiting videos and there’s also Andrew Morton’s new biography.

We’ve wondered about Will Smith, David Beckham and quite frankly, anyone that Cruise seems to hover around. Many claim that Cruise isn’t pushing Scientology, yet we wonder if that’s the entire story.

We reported yesterday that Eli Manning would not be enjoying his favorite Seinfeld reruns while in the fair city of Green Bay, Wisconsin this weekend. The story now takes a different turn.

Not so fast, says comedian Jerry Seinfeld. He heard about the NFL quarterback’s plight and is sending him the complete collection of Seinfeld DVD’s and a partial selection of Hogan’s Heroes for inspiration.

Fox affiliate KLUK-TV pulled Saturday evenings Seinfeld episode after finding out that the New York Giant’s quarterback loves the comedian and watches his reruns whenever he can. Click here for complete story.

The NFC championship game will be held on Sunday evening 5:30pm CST. Green Bay Packers will be lead by NFL quarterback Brett Favre, who was named Sportman of the Year by Sports Illustrated.

I think it may be time for Larry King to retire. Jerry Seinfeld was a guest on CNN’s “Larry King Live” Thursday night. King, who co-stars with Seinfeld in “Bee Movie,” asks the comedian if his show “Seinfeld,” (for those of you who may be living under Larry King’s rock), was canceled.

Seinfeld, clearly shocked, shoots back with “You’re not aware of this? You think I got canceled? Are you under the impression that I got canceled?”

Clearly miffed, he continues with “Is this still CNN? I was the number one show on television Larry. Do you know who I am?”

And before going to commercial break, “Can we get a resume in here for me, for Larry to go over?”

November 2 Paramount will release “Bee Movie”, a Dreamworks Animation Comedy – Jerry Seinfeld’s first substantial work since his “Seinfeld” TV sitcom ended in 1998.

Make no mistake, in the 9 years since the lights went out on the Seinfeld set, Jerry has not been completely idle. He has gotten married and fathered 3 children and has continued to perform his stand-up comedy act. He has even writen a book for children, “Halloween”.

His latest endeavor, Bee Movie has been a four year labor. Seinfeld has helped to write the script and has been involved in the production as well. Jerry Seinfeld will be supplying the lead character voice, as Barry B. Benson – a wisecracking honeybee.

The story is of a talking bee who falls in love with a quirky human florist named Vanessa (Renee Zellweger). Much to his horror, Barry discovers that honey can be purchased in any grocery store. He decides to sue mankind for stealing his communities honey. Other actors providing voices for the movie will be Chris Rock and Matthew Broderick.

Jerry Seinfeld Biography

Jerry Seinfeld was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1954 – the second of two children. The family moved to Long Island when Jerry was a child. Jerry attended the University of New York at Oswego and then moved on to Queens College in New York City where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in 1976. His degree from Queen was in communications and theater. He began working in comedy clubs by night while holding down odd jobs by day. Seinfeld’s first big break came from Rodney Dangerfield, who featured Seinfeld on an HBO special

In 1981 he performed on The Tonight Show then hosted by Johnny Carson and had a late night talk show breakthrough. He became a frequent guest on both The Tonight Show and on David Letterman. During the next 8 years he picked up work in cable tv specials and in guest appearances in sitcoms.

In the late 1980’s Seinfeld and his good friend Larry David began working up an idea for a situation comedy to be called The Seinfeld Chronicles. In 1989, NBC took the bait, and a year later the show premiered under the streamlined name Seinfeld. The show started out slowly the first year but gained momentum the second year. Seinfeld opted to end the show at the height of its popularity in 1998.

Seinfeld married Jessica Sklar, founder of the charitable organization Baby Buggy, in 1999. Their children are 6 year-old daughter, Sascha, and two sons, Julian 4 and Shepherd 2.

Seinfeld continues to perform stand-up comedy and has thrown his hat into the lucrative animated comedy realm as a writer and lead character voice with the release of Bee Movie in late 2007.
