Jessica Simpson is excited about the prospect of welcoming a son into her family.

The ‘Fashion Star’ mentor was the guest of honor at a baby shower on Sunday in Los Angeles and was thrilled with all the baby boy gifts.

Jess told PEOPLE magazine, “I’m so excited to have a son. He got all these cute vintage cars and I got a lot of little leather jackets I can’t wait to try out!”

Simpson and fiance Eric Johnson have an 11-month-old daughter Maxwell who was also very interested in the new baby loot.  Jess reports, “She was taking over some of her little brother’s gifts!”

The baby shower theme was Tom Sawyer and was thrown by her mother Tina and sister Ashlee Simpson, under the guidance of celeb event planner Mindy Weiss.

The menu, which was not Weight Watcher friendly, included Southern food and a grilled cheese station for the kiddos.

Make no mistake … Simpson hasn’t gone on a food frenzy during her second pregnancy.  She admits, “I always love some fried chicken. This pregnancy I’m active. I’ve only gained half of what I gained in my first pregnancy.”

She is looking forward to parenting a son, “I didn’t grow up with a brother and I think the unknown is really exciting. I can’t wait to have that connection with our little man.”

JS will undoubtedly get lots of advice from her sister, who has a four-year-old son Bronx.  The boy was born during her marriage to musician Pete Wentz.  The couple divorced in 2011.
