Johnny Depp People Magazine Sexiest Man Alive 2009 (PHOTOS)

People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive 2009 pick was announced today and the winner is……Johnny Depp. The actor is no stranger to the list, having been chosen for the honor previously in 2003.

Senior editor Kate Coyne cites one of the reasons Depp was chosen again this year is because of an almost “iconic status in terms of sexiness.” The mag also named 32-year-old Matt Bomer as Sexiest Rising Star 2009 – see his photo below.

Like Depp, other double winners include Brad Pitt, Richard Gere and George Clooney.

Last year’s winner was Aussie Hugh Jackman.

Johnny Depp: ‘Public Enemies’ Results in $116,000 Road Collapse

The film Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp as famed bank robber John Dillinger, was filmed on location in Columbus, Wisconsin in March of this year, some 25 miles from the city of Madison and 75 miles from Milwaukee. The city, population 4500, agreed to divert traffic to facilitate filming and the county road that served as the detour collapsed under the added load of traffic. The resulting repairs are more than chump change at $116,000 and remain a bone of contention.

The film company transformed the Columbus downtown area to resemble what it might have looked like in 1930 for the filming of several scenes including a bank robbery. They also transformed a local Craftsman era mansion into a brothel to shoot an assignation scene between Dillinger and his prostitute girlfriend.

Dodge County, left holding the bag so far for the spendy road repair, has filed a claim against the city of Columbus. Mayor Nancy Osterhaus said that talks are ongoing between city, county and NBC Universal to split the bill.

Public Enemies hits theaters on July 1, 2009. See photos and a movie trailer below.

Well that is exactly what Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee is hoping for. Lee called actor Johnny Depp the “best actor ever” and wants Depp to portray him in a biopic based on Motley Crue’s memoir The Dirt.

Details of the movie sound like we will get to see the one month marriage Tommy had with Elaine Irwin Bergen and his marriages to Heather Locklear and Pamela Anderson. He will also bring us into his experience of finding out he has hepatitis C and what it was like going to prison for kicking Pamela while she was holding their son Dylan.

The finer details of the film – such as producer, director and actors, are being worked out now.

How often do you see Johnny Depp getting bad press? Everybody seems to love the mysterious actor and for good reason. Johnny is the real deal and proves it time and time again.

At the end of his latest film Public Enemies, Depp thanked the cast and crew of 50 by throwing them a wrap party at Chicago’s Gibsons Bar and Steakhouse. He picked up the tab for all and reportedly left a very generous tip for the staff.

Last month Depp made a 12 year old fan’s dream come true. Johnny sent the youngster a fedora that he had worn in Public Enemies. The youngster’s siblings were also sent some gifts and a personal note.

Depp is truly a class act!

Mega star Johnny Depp evidently must be following the bitter divorce battle between David Hasselhoff and Pamela Bach. The Knight Rider star has been fighting to get back into the old house that he shared with Bach in order to regain some of his prize possessions, including an old barber chair.

This is where things get odd. Depp heard of David’s trials and tribulations and happened to have the barber chair from his hit movie Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and has given it to Hasselhoff.

David is so thrilled that he now could care less about the other chair. I wonder if he is more thrilled with the barber chair or that Johnny Depp knows who he is and is taking pity on him.

In Johnny Depp’s latest film, Sweeny Todd, the actors emotions ran high and he wasn’t just acting. During production of the film, Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose, with partner Vanessa Paradis, came down with a mysterious illness and production had to be shut down for a short while.

Johnny said in an interview , “You can’t broom out your head,” on set. “You certainly can’t broom out your heart…and everything shows in your eyes.”

The good news is that Depp’s daughter is back to good health. We look forward to more of Depp’s films in the future.

Kentucky’s native son, Johnny Depp, who’s been living in France for years, has reportedly plopped down $2 million for a penthouse loft at the recently renovated Eastern Columbia building in downtown L.A.

Ryan Gosling and T.R. Knight also reside in the upscale turquoise Art Deco landmark.
