Miley Cyrus and Danni Starr

Former Bitten and Bound writer Danni Starr, now rocking a new gig at Hot 99.5 The Kane Show in D.C., chatted it up with Miley Cyrus this morning and got to the bottom of her on-again, off-again engagement status.

Danni asked Miley about new rumors suggesting that she and Justin Bieber were actively flirting over the weekend at L.A. hotspot Beacher’s Madhouse.

The ‘We Can’t Stop’ singer replied, “I’m ENGAGED!” While laughing, she added for emphasis, “I’m engaged.  That is impossible.”

Thanks to our old pal Danni, we are pleased to report that the former Disney star is still engaged to Liam Hemsworth and her recent interaction with the Bieb was a friend thing and nothing more.

Starr broached the subject of Amanda Bynes, who made Cyrus a Twitter target this morning by posting an image of the singer that she captioned, “Ur ugly @mileycyrus.”

Miley had some interesting insight into what drives people like Bynes to diss her the minute she became “a world wide trending topic on Twitter.”

Richard Branson taking Bieber into space

Justin Bieber and his manager have plunked down big bucks to hitch a ride into outer space as early as next year.

According to Virgin Galactic founder Richard Branson, passengers will experience weighlessness at 62 miles in altitude beginning in 2014.

Branson tweeted, “Great to hear @justinbieber & @scooterbraun are latest @virgingalactic future astronauts.”

All seats to fly to space are $250,000.  According to the website, “Once confirmed, you’re given priority access to a variety of Virgin Galactic events.  Our future astronauts have visited Necker Island with Sir Richard Branson, completed G-force training, celebrated milestone powered test flights in the Mojave Desert and much more.”

At the head of the list of confirmed high profile travelers: Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Ashton Kutcher.

Usher and Justin Bieber

Usher chatted it up with Ellen DeGeneres about a number of subjects on Tuesday, including the bad boy behavior of Canadian teen pop singer Justin Bieber.

He and JB’s manager Scooter Braun go way back and paved the way in 2008 for their young protege’s stardom.

Fast forward five years and we find that the tween idol has become something of a menace with multiple allegations of reckless driving, hard partying, alleged marijuana use, late concert starts and Twitter drama.

Usher told Ellen in soothing tones, “We hope that in his transition — as friends and family who have helped him be who he is — that he will continue to just mature. But in this day and age of social media there is no privacy. That kind of trial and elimination period is done in front of a camera. It’s been done and many, many other celebrities have been a product of it. Some come out bad, some come out good. I’m hoping for the best.”

He has high hopes for the 19-year-old, “I don’t look at it as a negative, though. I look at it as a teenager. He is a teenager having to live his life in front of a camera. Imagine if you had to do that as a teenager … You go through something to get to something in life. If there were no humps in life, there’d be nothing to get over.”

Justin recently struck a similar tone with Us Weekly, “I’m young and I make mistakes. That’s part of growing up. I mess up sometimes. It’s part of growing up.”

He added, “I know who I am and I’m not gonna let negativity towards me bring me down. I’m a positive person and I plan on staying that way. This business can break you down, but I have a strong team around me, and my family and all the fans. The love overcomes the negativity. I’m not perfect but I’m growing and trying to be better everyday. That’s part of life.”

One thing seems certain — Scooter Braun no longer exerts the level of control that he once lorded over his high maintenance client?  Is it time for a new management team or is the kid calling the shots?  Your thoughts?

Justin Bieber Billboard Awards

Justin Bieber was booed last night at the Billboard Music Awards while accepting the fan-voted Milestone Award.

The Canadian pop star received boos while making his way onto the stage and again during his acceptance speech.  Fans cheered in an attempt to drown out the haters in the crowd.

The Bieb seemed confused by their reaction as he delivered this response, “I’m 19 years old. I think I’m doing a pretty good job. Basically from my heart I really just want to say it really should be about the music. It should be about the craft that I’m making. This is not a gimmick and I’m an artist and I should be taken seriously.  And all this other bull should not be spoken of.”

The “bull” reference in his speech was undoubted a nod to the bad publicity the teen has been picking up recently for driving infractions, arriving late for concerts, hard partying and drugs confiscated from his tour bus in Sweden.

Bieber went on to thank his manager Scooter Braun and his parents.  Later he picked up his second award for Top Male Artist.

Show host Tracy Morgan tried to lighten the mood by telling the crowd, “Don’t be booin’ nobody, this ain’t ‘Showtime at the Apollo.’”

Justin Bieber photo

During a Sunday night concert in Dubai, Justin Bieber was momentarily accosted on stage while playing a grand piano.  His overzealous security guards rushed to his aid and it was then that things really got crazy.

According to Us Weekly, “A man ran on stage during ‘Believe’ and tried to grab Justin and knocked the piano over. He was a fan. Security detained the young man. All was fine and Justin continued the show.”

Initial reports were quickly discounted when a video surfaced, courtesy a concert-goer who taped the ambush and uploaded it to YouTube.

The footage shows that Bieber’s security guards made a flying leap onto the interloper seconds after he approached the singer and the ensuing scuffle caused the piano to tip over.  JB later tweeted:

The Bieb finished the song and then took a small break before returning to the stage to perform ‘Boyfriend’ and ‘Baby.’

He recently reunited with Selena Gomez and isn’t sure about what he’ll do next, “I’m thinking about my next album, next tour. Or maybe I’ll take a break. I’m figuring it out. Isn’t that what you’re supposed to do at 19?”
