Actress Katie Holmes covers the April issue of Allure magazine and talks about her future as a single mother.
The 34-year-old ‘Dawson’s Creek’ star secured a quickie divorce from actor Tom Cruise in July 2012 and is reportedly doing well without him.
She is unsure of what the next year will bring for her. Katie remarked, “I hope this is a peaceful year for a lot of people in the world. When you look back on the last year, there were a lot of tragedies — Hurricane Sandy, the Connecticut shooting. I just hope it’s a good year for everyone.”
When asked if she thinks she will ever expand her family, Katie said wistfully, “I don’t know, I’m open to it.”
Rumors suggest that she wants to become an attorney, “Well, my brother and father are attorneys, and – we’ll see. I like the practical thinking of attorneys.”
Since the split, Katie’s main focus has been her soon-to-be 7-year-old daughter Suri Cruise, who now attends the exclusive private school Convent of the Sacred Heart in Manhattan.
Holmes has appeared in several Broadway productions, including the short-lived ‘Dead Accounts’ that ended early after a seven week run.
Katie is the face and co-owner of Alterna Haircare and also the face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics. She claims,”I’ve been a fan of her makeup for so many years, because I just feel comfortable putting it on. And I don’t feel like I can screw it up.”
Holmes also launched a fashion line last year, Holmes & Yang. “Growing up, I was really into the supermodels. I would listen to RuPaul’s ‘You Better Work.’” That doesn’t mean she picks out her daughters clothes. Katie admits, “She’s got a great eye, she really does.”
