Kelly Clarkson to join Maroon 5 on tour

Maroon 5 announced this morning that they will headline the 2013 Honda Civic Tour kicking off on August 1.  Joining them will be former ‘Idol’ winner Kelly Clarkson.

Frontman Adam Levine said, “I think the live outdoor kind of summer vibe is always different than the indoor arena tour because there’s less emphasis on production and more on live music.  It’s kind of the purest form of a tour because there’s not too many bells and whistles.”

The 31-day tour featuring their fourth studio album ‘Overexposed’ will wrap on October 5.  Besides Levine, group members include Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden, James Valentine and Matt Flynn.

Levine indicates the group has started on a follow-up album.  “We’ve got some great songs in the can.  The stuff we’re working on now, it definitely has gone maybe a little darker in its sound, maybe back a little bit more to what we kind of did on our debut ‘Songs About Jane.’

Besides creating new music, Adam helped kick off the new season of NBC’s ‘The Voice’ last week with Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher.

Kelly Clarkson blasts Clive Davis memoir

Clive Davis hit the talk show circuit Tuesday to promote his new memoir ‘The Soundtrack of My Life.’  He dropped a bisexual bombshell on Katie Couric but what got Kelly Clarkson all fired up were the “lies” he wrote about their relationship.

The former ‘Idol’ winner immediately prepared a blog response to set the record straight about the misguided recollections of the 80-year-old music mogul.

A pop rock artist with crossover success in country music, Clarkson wrote, “So I just heard Clive Davis is releasing a memoir and spreading false information about me and my music.  I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation for myself and for my fans.  It feels like a violation.  Growing up is awesome because you learn you don’t have to cower to anyone — even Clive Davis.”

She went on to point out inaccuracies and omissions that appear in the Davis life story.  She described her lowest point during their association.  “He stood up in front of his company at a convention and belittled me and my music and completely sabotaged ‘My December’ ….  it never had a chance to reach its full potential.  It was an album I needed to make for myself for many reasons and the fact that I was so completely disregarded and disrespected was so disheartening, there really aren’t words to explain…”

Kelly ended by saying, “Anyway, I love my job.  I love my music.  I love my fans.  I love my label and all of my professional relationships… now.  And I am grateful to Clive for teaching me to know the difference.”

Big day for Kelly Clarkson

The 2013 Presidential Inauguration Monday was a very big day for Kelly Clarkson, perhaps even more thrilling than her 2002 win on the first season of ‘American Idol.’

She sang ‘My Country, ‘Tis of Thee’ for a crowd estimated at 800,000, and later tweeted an image showing her shaking hands with President Obama as VP Joe Biden smiles in the background.  She captioned it, “Maybe the coolest photo I’ve ever been in…ever.”  She also uploaded a backstage girl bonding session with Beyonce.

The historical significance wasn’t lost on the entertainer, “What an honor to be a part of history!  Obama’s presence was powerful and his words unforgettable.  It’s a proud day for America!”

Things continued to be the stuff of fairy tales as Clarkson and her fiance Brandon Blackstock put on their “fancy attire” for a night of hobnobbing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  While in the car on her way to the most famous residence in the U.S., Kelly tweeted, “My dress barely fit in the car for tonight’s festivities.  I feel like Cinderella!  Thank you Oscar De La Renta!”

At the end of the evening Clarkson hit Twitter one last time to gush, “Just partied at the White House…I kid you not, Michelle Obama stood up and got the party started…seriously cool First Lady.”

Inaugural Moments Jan. 21, 2013

During the second inauguration of President Barack Obama on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson were called upon to sing for the crowd estimated at 500,000.

The former ‘Idol’ winner took the microphone first with a rendition of ‘My Country, ‘Tis of Thee’ while accompanied by the famed U.S. Marine Band.  After the completion of the song, often referred to as ‘America,’ President Obama thanked her and shook her hand.  The event Master of Ceremonies, N.Y. Sen. Chuck Schumer, returned to the podium and said, “Wow.”

Kelly posted a photo on Twitter that she captioned, “Maybe the coolest picture I have ever been in…ever.  What an honor to be a part of history!  Obama’s presence was powerful and his words unforgettable.  It’s a proud day for America!”

Beyonce belted out a powerful rendition of the ‘The Star-Spangled Banner,’ the national anthem.  First Lady Michelle Obama teared-up when the camera panned to her during the performance.

The ‘Put A Ring On It’ singer took time out of her busy schedule leading up to her Super Bowl XLV11 Pepsi Halftime Show to become a part of history for the second time in four years.  She sang the Etta James tune ‘At Last’ as the Obama’s danced during at their first inaugural ball.

Accompanied today by her husband Jay-Z, she wore a floor-length Pucci dress, Dior coat and emerald earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.

We would be remiss if we failed to include video of James Taylor singing ‘America the Beautiful,’ as he strummed on a guitar.  During the 2012 campaign, Taylor, accompanied by his wife as backup vocalist, spent more than a month performing at the president’s rallies and fundraisers.  He and his family have been in Washington D.C. for several days taking in a number of high profile events as a show of appreciation from the Obama camp.
