Kenny Chesney Opens Up About Renee Zellweger Split

It has been a long time in coming but country music sensation Kenny Chesney has finally opened up about his four month marriage to actress Renee Zellweger.

Admitting that he could not commit to marriage and his music career, Kenny didn’t know what marriage really meant and more to the point, what it meant to be thrust into the media spotlight. He claims that he really lived under the radar until he wed Renee back in 2005.

Reports claimed that Kenny was blindsided when Zellweger filed for divorce. Not so, says Chesney. Somebody had to do it and he knew it was coming and he was “fine with it.”

“My band, my crew, everybody on the road – they were acting differently. I’d go to a concert and there would be helicopters circling, trying to get a picture of me and her together. I never really had any kind of attention from the paparazzi . It went from zero to the complete other end of the spectrum…I thought it would be like that all the time…I panicked…I ran…I pushed her away…I didn’t want to be married to her anymore.”

Chesney said that he hasn’t spoke to Renee in over a year and the last time he called her they spoke for only 5 minutes. He said it’s just too hard.

Six time and four consecutive ACM Entertainer of the Year winner, Kenny Chesney released his latest album Lucky Old Son on October 14th. The first song, Everybody Wants to go to Heaven, dropped in August and is still going strong on the charts.

Making the rounds on the talk show circuit recently, Chesney appeared on Ellen, Tonight Show and Access Hollywood and sat for interviews with Newsweek, USA Today and People.

Kenny’s new CD is based on his last three years worth of emotions, including his four month marriage to actress Renee Zellweger in 2005.

One fun bit of information that we dug up is that Kenny’s mom, Karen Chandler is his hairdresser. Seems like a pretty easy job. What? We’re just saying…

Skylene Montgomery, the reigning Miss West Virginia, is dating country music superstar Kenny Chesney after the two met at his concert in Charleston last month. The two have reportedly been inseparable ever since.

Kenny, who recently ditched longterm girlfriend Allison Stewart, called Skylene after they met and asked her to meet him in Cleveland. When the singer had a bad reaction to an antibiotic, the beauty queen stayed with him at the hospital. Chesney then took her to Vegas and she also joined him in Pittsburgh before visiting him in Nashville.

40-year-old Chesney is said to be “head over hills” for 23-year-old, who also runs a fitness day camp for kids.

Kenny Chesney Injured During South Carolina Concert (Video)

Country music star Kenny Chesney sustained a bone-crushing injury Saturday night during a sold-out concert at Williams-Brice stadium in Columbia, S.C.

Chesney was the final act for the first stadium show of the Poets & Pirates tour, which included performances by LeAnn Rimes and Brooks & Dunn.While making his entrance on stage during his opening number, “Live Those Songs,” Chesney’s right foot got caught between the stage and a lift that elevates him into the middle of the arena.

As the band continued to play an extended introduction of the song, Chesney pried himself loose, and although in obvious pain, continued the show.

Seen holding his knee and limping during instrumental breaks, Chesney didn’t acknowledge his injury until after the performance.

“I took one look at those fans, and there was no way I wasn’t going on,” Chesney said in a written statement issued following the concert. “Sometimes the energy and the adrenalin pull you through. They had come to rock, and there was no way I was sending them home with anything less than the best of what me and my guys came to do — put it all out there and give them back at least as good as they gave us. … Honestly, through the pain, through all of it, Columbia, S.C., totally got me through.”

After leaving the stage, Chesney’s boot was cut off and his injuries treated by a physician from the University of South Carolina who had been waiting nearby. The extent of his injuries is not known.
