Kylie Minogue to be Knighted

Gorgeous singer Kylie Minogue has never hidden her love for France. On Monday she will be honored in Paris and will be made a Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters. This award is being bestowed upon the singer because of her “contribution to the enrichment of French Culture.”

When interviewed about receiving the upcoming honor, Kylie had this to say:

I am deeply honored to be recognized in this way. French culture has influenced me greatly and I have always had colossal respect for the arts and people of France.”

The day after Minogue is knighted she will kick off her KylieX2008 world tour which happens to open in the French capital. Coincidence? Not.

Kylie Minogue looks stunning on the May 2008 cover of German Vogue. The lovely actress and singer has become one of the most recognized celebrities in Australia, Asia and Europe. She has been widely acclaimed for her record sales which are in excess of 60 million records.

On February 20, 2008, Minogue won the International Female Solo Artist award. The multi talented celebrity has also had a very public battle with breast cancer. She underwent surgery in 2005 and took a year off to recover. Her comeback has been strong and she has many new irons in the fire.

Minogue has signed a two year contract to be the face of the Spanish luxury brand TOUS. She has recently released a new perfume called Showtime and she has her own home furnishings line called Kylie at Home. Suffice it to say, this woman is busy.

Kylie Minogue is an Australian Grammy award winning pop singer, songwriter and actress. She has sold over 40 million records worldwide. She released her 10th studio album X at the end of November – currently number four on the charts.

Minogue broke into TV at age eleven when she appeared on several Australian soap operas. She then embarked on a very successful music career. She performed On A Night Like This and Dancing Queen for over 2.1 billion people at the closing ceremonies of the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.

The singer was in the middle of a worldwide concert tour in 2005 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Following surgery and chemotherapy she was determined to return to her career. She has received a great deal of support from her friend Olivia Newton-John, a fellow Aussie and cancer survivor.

Details have been released on the upcoming Kylie Minogue album, her first since cancer surgery in 2005.

The album, titled ‘X’ will be released on November 26th and will be preceded by the digital single ‘2 Hearts’ on November 5th.
