Lance Armstrong's new house overlooking Lake Austin

Lance Armstrong has purchased a new home in the gated community of Rob Roy overlooking Lake Austin for $4,300,000, just a week after news that he sold his longtime Austin residence.

Armstrong’s new 5 bedroom home sits on 3.6 acres on the banks of Lake Austin, and was recently featured in Architectural Digest.

Four separate structures comprise a 12,500 square-foot compound designed by local architect Arthur Anderson. Features include a sports court, a home theater and an art studio.

Disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong recently lost $150 million in future endorsement deals but he isn’t so broke that he’s feeling compelled to sign on to the spring season of ‘Dancing with the Stars.’

Recently stripped of his seven Tour de France titles, Armstrong turned down an offer by the ABC reality dance competition, according to an Entertainment Weekly exclusive report.

He was one of the “big get” celebrities that is high on the networks list of potential competitors. It was recently revealed that Lindsay Lohan turned down $550K for the same opportunity that failed to entice the fallen athlete.

His spokesperson confirmed, “Lance has been offered the show each and every year since its inception. Although flattered he has passed on their generous offers.”

The new season of ‘DWTS’ premieres on March 18.

‘Hangover’ star Bradley Cooper is noting his interest in playing Lance Armstrong in an upcoming biopic.

Cooper spoke with BBC about the controversial cyclist and his desire to take on the leading role in the film, “I would be interested in that. I think he’s fascinating. What a fascinating character.”

Paramount Pictures and JJ Abrams’ production company Bad Robot are coming together to start a movie project based on New York Times reporter Juliet Macur‘s forthcoming book: ‘Cycles of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong.’

This isn’t the first time Cooper has been interested in a role as Armstrong, “I remember Matt Damon was going to do his autobiography at one point years ago. I remember thinking, that would be a great character, I’d love to play that character. I would love to do something, I think he’s pretty fascinating.”

Other names being thrown around include Matt Damon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Fassbender and Christian Bale.

Last week Armstrong came clean to Oprah Winfrey, admitting for the first time that he used banned drugs and blood doping during all of his seven Tour de France titles. More on that interview here.

In the aftermath of the Lance Armstrong confessions to Oprah last week in a two-part OWN exclusive, his pal Matthew McConaughey is speaking out.

During his premiere of ‘Mud’ at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, the 43-year-old actor talked about his good friend and fellow Texas native, “My first reaction was I was pissed off. I was mad. Then I got kind of sad for him. First off, I had a part of me that took it kind of personally, which I think a lot of people have.”

Then he thought about it for a while and decided to cut Armstrong some slack, “What was he supposed to do? Call me to the side and go, ‘Hey man, I did it but don’t tell anybody.’ Then I would have really had a reason to be pissed off at him, going, ‘You want me to walk around holding this?’”

The actor is actually rooting for the disgraced athlete, “Where I am now is I’ve put myself out of the way and I am happy for this guy, who has now chosen to reenter this new chapter of his life. He is now a truly free man without the weight he had on his shoulders, without the boogie man under the bed, the skeleton in the closet that he’s carried for 14 years. Fourteen years he lied and carried the lie with him.”

He quoted Oprah, “She said ‘the truth shall set you free,’ but she forgot one part. It’s miserable in the beginning. And it’s going to be miserable. But he’s looking it in the eye, and he’ll handle it. He’ll deal. And he’s ready for how hard it’s going to be to deal.”

Two months ago Armstrong posted a provocative image on his Twitter page featuring himself lounging on a sofa with his seven Tour de France yellow race shirts framed in the background. He captioned it, “Back in Austin and just layin’ around.” When Winfrey asked him what he was thinking, he grimaced and said, “I actually thought it was a good idea at the time.”

Oprah Winfrey began her interview with former cycling legend Lance Armstrong with a barrage of Yes and No questions that he answered without flinching.

Armstrong admitted to the OWN mogul that he took a long list of banned substances to enhance his cycling performances beginning in the mid-90′s, long before his record breaking seven Tour de France wins. His “cocktail” of choice was testosterone, EPO and blood transfusions to boost his own blood.

Oprah suggested he was coming forward because he hoped to compete in the future. Armstrong nixed that idea but claims he doesn’t have a great answer about why he has decided to admit he lied, saying “this is too late.”

Lance discounted the IOC assessment that he ran a “sophisticated doping operation.” He said, “I viewed it as very simple, very conservative. You had things that were oxygen-boosting drugs, for lack of a better word, that were incredibly beneficial for endurance sports. And that’s all you needed.”

Was he afraid of getting caught? “No.” Did it feel wrong? “No.” Did it feel like cheating? “No.” He suggested that doping practices were so rampant in the sport that he “viewed it a a level playing field.” When pressed by O he refused to implicate anyone other than himself.

His former team mate Tyler Hamilton wrote a book, ‘The Secret Race,’ in which he alleged that Armstrong had a positive blood test during the 2001 Tour de Suisse and paid off a lab and the UCI with a generous donation. Armstrong told Winfrey that the $1 million check was not hush money. Friday morning during to TODAY interview with Matt Lauer, Hamilton stood by his original claim … which would imply that Armstrong is still lying.

The disgraced athlete claims he never forced his teammates to participate in doping but did acknowledge that he was a full blown bully who led by example. He believes his biggest mistake was his 2009 comeback, a decision that sparked a renewed effort on several fronts to unravel his doping scheme.
