Tour de France 2009 Winner (PHOTO)

We think this photo is quite telling. It shows the 2009 Tour de France winner Alberto Contador holding the trophy that symbolizes his victory. Looking on with a rather pensive look on his face is third-place finisher Lance Armstrong.

The seven-time winner retired from the sport after his 2005 win but had a change of heart and trained with Team Astana for a comeback at age 37. He finished 5 minutes 24 seconds behind Contador of Spain and 1 minute 13 seconds behind Andy Schleck of Luxembourg.

From the look in his eye, don’t be surprised to see Armstrong working his tail off in anticipation of Tour de France 2010. The oldest winner ever was Belgium’s Firmin Lambot, who won at age 36 in 1922. With his third-place finish on Sunday, Armstrong was the oldest podium finisher since 1976.

After the ceremony, Armstrong said, “Based on everything–my age, my time away, people’s expectations–it was a pretty good effort.” We agree.

Alberto Contador of Team Astana is close to securing his second Tour de France victory after winning the final time trial on Thursday, while his teammate Lance Armstrong moved up to third place overall. The three-week race ends Sunday on the Champs-Elysees in Paris.

Contador, the 2007 Tour de France winner, finished the 25-mile course on and around Annecy in 48 minutes 31 seconds. After the race he admitted, “I went all out.” He leads Andy Schleck by 4:11, Armstrong by 5:25 and Bradley Wiggins by 5:36.

Stage 18 started under cloudy skies that turned to sunshine but ended with rain late in the afternoon. Friday’s Stage 19 ride was 111 miles from Bourgoin-Jallieu to Aubenas, followed by an uphill leg on Saturday at Mont Ventoux.

Mark Cavendish of Britain captured Friday’s Stage 19 in a sprint finish, becoming the first racer to win five stages in a single Tour since Armstrong in 2004. “This is a high point in my career”, Cavendish told reporters.

Standings after the Friday leg were Alberto Contador, Spain 77:06:18, Andy Schleck, Lexembourg 4:11, and Lance Armstrong, U.S. 5:21.

Lance Armstrong and his girlfriend Anna Hansen welcomed a new baby son just before midnight, Thursday June 4, 2009. The road racing cyclist used Twitter to share the good news with his fans, and even included a photo of the great looking lad, who has been named Max Armstrong.

There were two ‘tweets’ after Max arrived on the scene. The first said, “Wassup, world? My name is Max Armstrong and I just arrived. My mommy is healthy and so am I.”

Thirty minutes later, a second tweet announced that @maxarmstrong1 weighed in at 7 lbs. 5 oz. and is 20 inches long. He may be the youngest baby ever to have his own twitter account. Thus far, it is marked private.

Armstrong and his ex-wife Kristin have three children, Luke, Isabella and Grace. We’ve got photos and bio on Anna Hansen here, as well as photos of Lance’s older kids.

Lance Armstrong Breaks Silence Over Sheryl Crow Split

Cyclist Lance Armstrong and singer Sheryl Crow were once one of the most popular couples around and when the pair split they left their fans wondering why. Now Lance has decided to break his silence and has given his side of the story to author John Wilcockson, whose new biography Lance will hit store shelves in July.

Armstrong proposed to Crow back in 2005, two weeks before her 44th birthday and that evidently did it, pushing Sheryl into mommy overdrive. He said, “She wanted marriage, she wanted children; and not that I didn’t want that, but I didn’t want that at the time because I had just gotten out of a marriage, I’d just had kids (Luke, Grace and Bella). Yet we’re up against her biological clock – that pressure is what cracked it.”

Lance is going to become a daddy again next month, the mother-to-be is Anna Hansen. Doctors were concerned that with Armstrong’s aggressive treatment for testicular cancer, he wouldn’t be able to conceive naturally but they proved the medical profession wrong. Photos of Anna and Lance here.

After the split, Sheryl took matters into her own hands and in 2007 she adopted a baby boy, Wyatt Steven Crow. She and her son live on a 154 acre farm outside of Nashville.

Lance Armstrong Injured in Spain Cycling Crash (CRASH VIDEO)

Lance Armstrong was loaded into an ambulance and taken to the University Clinic in Valladolid after suffering a fall during the first stage of the Vuelta of Castilla and Leon race in Spain today. The injury occurred when more than a dozen racers got tangled up and tumbled to the ground. He is expected to be released later today.

According to the AP, the seven time Tour de France winner may have injured his right collarbone. The athlete is in the midst of a cycling comeback, riding with Team Astana in the five day race event.

According to team leader Johan Bruyneel, Armstrong suffered a clean fracture without complications and he should make a speedy recovery. This message was conveyed via a Twitter feed.

Armstrong raced in the one-day Milan San Remo last Satuday, finishing 125th. He has been in training to compete in the Tour de France in July.

Prior to his European trek, he was on hand to launch a new Nike charitable initiative, Stages.

Lance Armstrong Launches Nike Stages (PHOTOS)

Lance Armstrong was in Los Angeles on Saturday to launch Nike Sportswear’s global art exhibition titled Stages.

The exhibition, which features the work of over 20 artists, is a global initiative to raise funds for the Lance Armstrong Foundation in the fight against cancer.

The 7-time Tour de France winner and cancer survivor visited Children’s Hospital and then led 700 cyclists on the Hope Rides 2.2 mile cycling tour which ended at the Montalban Theater.

To further contribute in the fight against cancer, Nike also announced 2 new athletic wear collections: Hope Rides Again apparel and footwear collection and Greatest Hits footwear pack, with all proceeds going to LAF.

Milo Ventimiglia, Patrick Dempsey, Evan Handler and Laura Dern were also on hand at the event. Check out the photos below.

Lance Armstrong and Kate Hudson parted company in July 2008. The cycling ace and seven time Tour de France winner apparently got right back up on that dating horse and began dating a woman named Anna Hansen. They have announced that they are expecting a baby together.

Armstrong, a cancer survivor, met Anna through his charity work. She is a Program Manager and Recruiter for First Descents. A Colorado native, Anna loves nothing more than being outdoors, and Vail provides the perfect setting for her favorite activities which include mountain biking and snowboarding.

First Descents was started in 2001, providing whitewater kayaking and other outdoor experiences to promote emotional, psychological and physical healing for young adults with cancer. In 2009 they will host nine weeklong programs in six different states. They are always looking for volunteers and soliciting donations to support their good works.

Anna Hansen graduated with a degree in Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has been a volunteer at the Children’s Hospital in Denver and serves on the board of directors of Camp Wapiyapi, a foundation providing support for families with childhood cancer.

Armstrong reportedly had his sperm frozen before he underwent cancer treatment in 1996. He and his wife Kristin Richards were able to conceive three children through in-vitro fertilization. The couple were divorced at the end of 2003 and share custody of Luke, 9, and twin daughters Isabelle and Grace, 7.

The surprising news this time around is that he and Anna conceived naturally and Armstrong is said to be “thrilled”.

Lance Armstrong Talks About His Low Libido

Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong gets candid with Men’s Journal magazine on his libido and relationships. Lance, who was most recently dating actress Kate Hudson, is once again single.

“The fact is that if you are riding a bike five, six, seven hours a day, you are not a sex champion. You’re just not. You have fatigue, low testosterone and a low libido.”

Having said all that, Lance was quick to add “I’ve never gotten any complaints.” Of course he hasn’t because, quite frankly, who is going to complain when they are dating Armstrong? But it does seem a little odd that his relationships haven’t lasted very long – maybe we’re finally on to something here.

Now that the cat is out of the bag ladies, here is your opportunity to step up and see if you can kick Lance Armstrong’s libido into high gear.

Kate Hudson spent the afternoon doing lunch in Manhattan and then hitting the playground with her young son Ryder Robinson. The actress is between boyfriends since cutting ties with Lance Armstrong. The couple dated for several months before an abrupt parting of ways.

One has to wonder what might be keeping the actress and the athlete from finding true love. Armstrong broke off an engagement with singer Cheryl Crow, reportedly because she wanted children and he was satisfied with his brood without adding more. She has since adopted a son Wyatt Crow. Hudson broke things off twice with Owen Wilson, presumably because of his addictive behavior.

Kate still has a great relationship with ex-husband Chris Robinson, frontman for The Black Crowes. Immediately after her most recent breakup, she and Ryder were seen dining with Chris. They also dined with him on Father’s Day.

Hudson was named People magazine’s Most Beautiful Cover Girl earlier this year. Perhaps that was what drew Armstrong to her in the first place. Maybe it’s all about the conquest with the seven time Tour de France champion.

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong have split after a three month romance that began in May after Hudson’s relationship with Owen Wilson ended a second time.

The 29-year-old actress and 36-year-0ld seven time Tour de France winner attended the three-day Lance Armstrong Livestrong Summit this past weekend in Columbus, OH. It was during the conference the couple decided to call it quits.

“There was no drama or ugliness – They just decided to end things,” according to a source close to the couple. “There is no hatred, just sadness.”
