Lauren Conrad Ditches Paws for Style – Rips Off Humane Society

The catwalk went to the dogs in New York City Tuesday as designers and celebrity dog-walkers came together for the Animal Fair Media’s 2008 “Paws for Style,” benefiting the Humane Society of New York.

“The Hills” hottie Lauren Conrad was slated to walk the runway in the finale, but backed out suddenly, refusing to go onstage.

Conrad, who showed up dogless, walked the press line before the show, borrowing someone else’s dog. She did her interviews, posed on the red carpet, and then completely flaked.

She was later spotted backstage crying. The MC, obviously nonplussed, said to the entire audience, “Those reality stars can be such temperamental bitches.”

Conrad’s entire trip was paid for by the Humane Society.

Wendy Diamond, the editor in chief of Animal Fair and one of the judges on CBS’s new series Greatest American Dog claims that Lauren Conrad is GUILTY of ripping off the Humane Society.

“100 percent of the proceeds from Paws For Style go to the Humane Society of New York, we do not take a penny,” Diamond tells us. “If anyone would like to help make up for this costly mishap, please call the Humane Society of New York at (212) 752-4842 or visit their website: http://www.humanesocietyny.org/.”

Karina Smirnoff and Lauren Conrad partied braless last night at Coco de Ville, a West Hollywood hotspot. While this is not unusual, the celebrities appear to be showing more cleavage than they may have intended – and then again, maybe not. Our lead photo gives little hint to the wardrobe malfunction that occurred as the evening progressed.

The new bar is one of two that are located within STK restaurant. Their website says you’ll know when you’ve arrived at the right place because the paparazzi are always herded up outside.

Customers are cautioned to phone ahead or run the risk of being turned away because of private parties that frequently reserve the facilities. We’re not sure if last night was a private affair or open to the public but several celebrities provided numerous Kodak moments for members of the paparazzi, who caught them in some interesting wardrobe dilemmas.

Just one day after reports of an ugly spat between The Hills stars and BFFs Audrina Patridge and Lauren Conrad, the two were spotted holding hands as they headed to the Crown Bar in West Hollywood Wednesday evening.

The tension started when Conrad came home to find Patridge in the middle of a photo shoot with OK! magazine.

“She was very, very, very mad,” explains Audrina in the interview. “She said it’s her house. But this is my room. I said, ‘We’re not taking pictures of your house — don’t be rude.’ It just adds to the tension. Now she thinks I’m sneaky and shady for doing this photo shoot, yet she and her team knew about it. She won’t let it go.”

If the photos below are any indication, and not just a publicity stunt, the two have apparently buried the hatchet.

Lauren Conrad sat down with Ellen DeGeneres and gave her the lowdown on “The Hills,” claiming the reality series is real. She says that she has gotten used to the cameras following her around all the time and having a mic clipped on.

Ellen also asked her about ex BFF Heidi Montag. Lauren said she has moved on past that friendship and doesn’t give it much thought unless she is asked about it.

Lauren also talks about her new clothing line. I wonder if she knows her former BFF, that she doesn’t give much thought to, is trying to follow her lead and launch her own clothing line.

“The Hills” Lauren Conrad paid a visit to Regis and Kelly this morning and dished about her breakup with Jason Wahler, BFF Heidi Montag and her new clothing line, The Lauren Conrad Collection.

Although the show is called “The Hills,” Conrad says they don’t live in the Hollywood Hills, but they “go up there a lot.”
