Mischa Barton on Suicide Watch

Actress Mischa Barton was photographed at a hotel in L.A. on Tuesday, and sources say she was bloated and almost unrecognizable. Los Angeles police are only confirming that Barton was in need of some kind of assistance – for what they described as a “medical issue”.

Barton is reported to have suffered a breakdown after a three day coke binge and was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold. The New York Post indicates that Mischa’s friend called police after becoming terrified that the actress was going to kill herself.

Sources say that Barton is running out of money and has been hitting the party scene fast and furious in an effort to forget about her problems.

In recent weeks Mischa’s turmoil has been apparent to those who have come in contact with her. Hotel guests said that they witnessed the actress stumbling and confused around one of the pools.

During an recent interview with Life & Style magazine, Mischa said that she is healthy and comfortable in her own skin.

Mischa’s publicist Craig Schneider has confirmed that the actress is still in the hospital after being placed on a 5150 hold. California welfare laws state that Barton can be held up to 72 hours by authorities if there is a risk of harm.

Mischa Barton graces the cover of Cosmopolitan UK magazine’s May 2009 issue. The gorgeous blonde is featured with only her hair covering her naked body, with the headline Your Body Rocks.

The actress has faced body image issues in the past, with detractors mocking her for having cellulite. Barton claims the photos in question were doctored, and the cellulite photoshopped in.

Mischa has actually dropped several sizes since her breakup with Rooney guitarist Taylor Locke last year. She reports that she has gone from a size 12 to a size 6 or 8, and is totally happy with her body.

Surely it can’t be easy to be in the media eye at all times. Mischa Barton isn’t having any smack talk about her recent drop in weight and has decided to set everyone straight on her website.

“Just so you guys know, I’m happier and healthier than ever. Things are really going well in Mischa world and I’ve just been watching what I eat.

I love my Pilates and yoga, and have cut back on fatty foods a bit. My time in India and Paris really helped me lose a little bit of weight but there’s nothing drastic going on!”

Barton is concerned that the bad press she receives about her appearance is not healthy for young girls to read. Therefore, she is trying to get the message out to her young fans to be secure with their own image and not let anyone tell them how to live their life.

Actress Mischa Barton was arrested last December and charged with DUI. The young star secretly entered an undisclosed rehab facility to let the courts know that she realized her mistake and was not a “drunk”.

In the UK edition of Marie Claire magazine Mischa talked about how mad she was that she had become someone that she detests:

“I wanted to prove to the court that I would take it completely seriously, so I went to rehab to prove that I was sober. It really helped in getting the more serious aspects of my case dropped because, you know, that’s what they wanted to hear; you are not an alcoholic and you don’t have a problem. So I did it in the most low key way possible – I didn’t make a fuss about it and I didn’t tell a lot of my friends. I just did the program and got through it.

The thing is I hate drunk drivers. Living in L.A., I can’t stand them, and that is why I was so disappointed in myself. It’s so not worth it when you put other lives at risk.”

No word on whether Barton has remained sober since her stint in rehab. Hopefully she learned a great deal from her experience and didn’t just take these measures to please the court system. Her sentence was 36 months probation, alcohol education classes and she paid a fine.

British actress Mischa Barton, 22, blew off the premiere of her upcoming movie You and I at the Cannes Film Festival because she was very unhappy with the film. While the film was being shown, the actress was reportedly drinking champagne at the Chopard’s Cannes bash.

The confused celebrity had told film producers that she was going home and would not be doing any promotional work for the film. When the actress was asked why she was a no show she shot back , “I was never due to go.”

The movie tells the tale of two teenage girls who fall in love after meeting on the fan site of a Russian girl band t.A.T.u. and later hooking up at a concert in Moscow. The teens become swept up into a dangerous world of obsession, drug abuse and murder.

Barton, who battles both drugs and alcohol, was arrested for DUI on December 27, 2007 and spent some time in a rehab facility.

Mischa Barton is the latest star to be pulled over and sited for DUI, possession of illegal narcotics and no license. This doesn’t sound so good for the actress who has several films coming out this year.

Word is Mischa is still in jail and being held on bond. I have said this before, why aren’t these young stars using a driver?
