Kirstie Alley dropped a bombshell last night during a pre-taped interview with Entertainment Tonight reporter Chris Jacobs.  The actress revealed that she had an affair of the heart with the late Patrick Swayze.

Alley, 61, claims she and Swayze engaged in an “intense emotional affair” while filming the 1985 Civil War mini-series ‘North and South.’

The actor was married at the time to Lisa Niemi, who remained his wife until his death Sept. 14, 2009.  Their union spanned 34 years.

Alley was then married to second husband, actor Parker Stevenson, whom she divorced in 1997.

Kirstie admits that it was not a physical affair, “But again, I think what we did was worse.  Because I think when you fall in love with someone when you’re married, you jeopardize your own marriage and their marriage. It’s doubly bad.”

The ‘DWTS: All-Star’ celeb isn’t sure if Niemi was aware of their strong connection, but she did ask Kirstie to deliver a eulogy at Swayze’s 2009 funeral.

Kirstie told Barbara Walters recently that while filming ‘Look Who’s Talking’ in 1989 with John Travola, she had to fight the urge to run off and marry him.  She claims, “He was the greatest love of my life.”

Why is she suddenly unloading all of these secrets of the heart?  Her new tell-all ‘The Art of Men’ launches today.

Lisa Niemi Speaks about Patrick Swayze

For the first time since actor Patrick Swayze passed away 6-weeks-ago, his wife Lisa Niemi spoke of her grief on Monday at a Long Beach, California event.

Lisa’s grief could be felt across the room, as she shared the fact that Patrick’s death, “is like an animal all of it’s own.”  She poured her heart out at the Women’s Conference 2009, joining the round table discussion Grief, Healing and Resilience.

The couple met as teenagers at his mother’s dance studio.  Their marriage became one of the most enduring relationships in Hollywood.

She told her audience, “I’ve spent two thirds of my life with him…my regret is that I didn’t tell him I loved him enough over that 34 years.   I am so grateful for what I had and my connection to him, and part of me believes that I will see him again, and I’m just going to have to go on until then.”

So heart-breaking…see their private photos and read more of what Niemi had to say at PopEater.

patrick swayze dead at 57

Patrick Swayze died Monday, September 14, 2009.

Swayze’s death comes  after a nearly two year battle with pancreatic cancer.

The 57-year-old actor’s publicist released a statement Monday evening, saying, “Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months.”

According to recent reports, Swayze had gone home to be with his family.

Swayze went public with his illness in early 2008 and underwent regular bouts of chemotherapy as he repeatedly denied tabloid reports that he was close to death.  In January 2009, he sat down for an interview with Barbara Walters, and was hospitalized shortly after with pneumonia.

Born in Houston, Texas, Swayze moved to New York to train as a professional ballet dancer before taking the lead role of Danny Zuko in the Broadway production of “Grease.”  In 1983, he was cast in Francis Ford Coppola’s cult hit “The Outsiders.”  Swayze’s role as Johnny Castle in 1987′s “Dirty Dancing” catapulted him into the Hollywood A-list.  Three years later, he starred opposite Demi Moore in “Ghost.”

Patrick Swayze

In March 2008 actor Patrick Swayze, 56, announced to the world that he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  In recent days he has been making the press rounds for his new television show The Beast, which premieres on January 15.

Swayze was slated to be part of a presentation for the Television Critics Association Press Tour today.   Abbe Raven, A&E president announced to those in attendance that the actor had developed pneumonia and because of his serious medical condition, was admitted to an area hospital.   He shared the following with those present: “He asked us specifically to go forward with today’s panel.  We wish him the very best with his recovery.”

In The Beast, Swayze plays the role of a veteran FBI agent who trains a rookie partner played by Travis Fimmel, who said: “He’s an inspiration.  He makes the little things seem so not important.”  All thirteen episodes of season one have been completed.

Swayze and his wife recently sat down with Barbara Walters to film a 20/20 special entitled Patrick Swayze: The Truth, which aired on ABC earlier this week.  The one hour program was a very candid discussion about how his illness has affected his family and he discussed the emotional and physical toll of the chemotherapy treatment.
