Prince Harry toured the storm-ravaged Seaside Heights area, known as the Jersey Shore, on Tuesday with Gov. Chris Christie as his guide.

The Prince received a warm greeting from the governor, his wife Mary Pat and their children Andrew, 19, Sarah, 16, Patrick, 12, and Bridget, 10.

Christie, who recently underwent lap band surgery, tweeted a photo after the event that was captioned, “Greeting Prince Harry at the Jersey Shore the best way I know how; with his own Royal Fleece.”

The 28-year-old British Royal shook hands with police, fire and other emergency personnel who were called to action during and after Superstorm Sandy.  He also exchanged greetings with construction workers who are rebuilding the famous boardwalk.

Harry was impressed to see the recovery effort in New Jersey.  He remarked, “Everyone is getting together and making things right.”

Next on his U.S. tour will be a trip to Greenwich, Conn., to captain a polo team as part of the Sentebale Polo Cup.

Savannah Guthrie engaged to Mike Feldman

TODAY co-host Savannah Guthrie announced this morning that she is engaged to political consultant Mike Feldman.

The 41-year-old television personality showed off her engagement sparkler at the top of the show Monday, May 13, and her sidekick, Matt Lauer, was given the honor of sharing a Twitpic and the news on Twitter with this message, “Big news from Savannah!”

Feldman, 44, is a public relations and communications consultant and founding partner and managing director of the Glover Park Group.

In 1992, at age 24, he joined Bill Clinton’s campaign staff and later served as V.P. Al Gore’s deputy director of legislative affairs from 1993 to 1997.  He went on to become a senior advisor to Gore during his failed run for president.  He reportedly played a key role in Gore’s decision to contest the results in Florida.

Savannah and Mike have been together for four years.  She met her previous husband, BBC television reporter Mark Orchard, during the Michael Jackson trial.  Their union spanned 2005-2009.

Michelle Obama and Prince Harry

Prince Harry was a special guest of Michelle Obama at the White House yesterday, joining the First Lady in the East Room for a Mother’s Day tea party attended by members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

It was the second stop on the 28-year-old on his U.S. tour.  Earlier in the day Harry was accompanied by Sen. John McCain to view an exhibit at the Russell Senate Office Building for one of his charities — landmine clearance group The Halo Trust.  This was a pet project of his mother, the late Princess Diana.

Harry, a helicopter pilot who has served in Afghanistan, will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider in Arlington National Cemetery, honoring service men and women who died in combat and will also tour Walter Reed Medical Center during the Washington D.C. leg of his journey.

Before heading west he will also tour the Hurricane Sandy destruction on the Jersey Shore.

The Prince will then attend the opening ceremony of the Warrior Games in Denver, Colorado, an event for more than 200 wounded service personnel–where he’ll undoubtedly be cheering on the British team.

Will he stop in Las Vegas?  Not a chance.

Gov Christie is slimming down

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie revealed this week that he underwent Lap-Band surgery two weeks after eating a doughnut during a guest appearance on ‘Late Night With David Letterman’ in February.

He visited pioneer Dr. George Fielding at New York University and asked, “Well, do I really need this?”  The specialist responded, “If you came in here with cancer and I told you I had a 40-minute surgery that’d give you a 90 percent chance of cure, would you sign up?  If the answer is yes, then why wouldn’t you do that to cure obesity?”

The surgery, less-invasive than several other gastric band options, allowed the governor to return home following the 40-minute same day outpatient procedure.  He had the surgery under an assumed name and kept the news private for several months before going public within the past few days.

The downside of Lap-Band is that the governor will have to undergo multiple follow-up surgical procedures to tighten the band as he progresses on his weight loss journey.

His doctors told him to expect slow progress of 1-2 pounds per week with this type of procedure.  Christie has reportedly lost between 30-40 pounds so far, putting him right on track according to his physician.

It won’t be a slam dunk from here on out according to Dr. Richard Besser, ABC News’ chief health and medical correspondent.  He cautions, “Only about half of patients will have long-term success.  Christie still needs to practice good eating habits, exercise and seek a supportive environment to keep the weight off long term.”

Chris Christie, 50, married Mary Pat Foster in 1986.  They have four children: Andrew, 20, Sarah, 17, Patrick, 13, and Bridget, 10.

Barack Obama was bangin last night

During last night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, the funniest bit was most certainly Barack Obama’s attempt to gain a media bounce by trying a Michelle Obama trick.

The president busted a few moves while taking the podium Saturday night at the Washington Hilton for what has been dubbed “Washington Prom Night.”

Obama asked the audience, “How do you like my new entrance music?  Rush Limbaugh warned you about this.  Second term baby.”

He lamented the fact that he is aging–with some interesting comments.  “I look in the mirror and I’ve got to admit, I’m not the strapping young Muslim socialist that I used to be.”

“My team and I realized that I needed some new energy so we borrowed one of Michelle’s tricks.”  This was followed by a couple of Photoshopped images on the big screen of POTUS rocking bangs.

Bangs make the woman and the man
