Rosie O'Donnell and Michelle Rounds daughter

Rosie O’Donnell and her wife Michelle Rounds have welcomed a new baby girl into their family.

The comedic entertainer shared a family photo and tweeted, “we r thrilled to announce the arrival of r daughter Dakota – #withloveandthanks – AMEN.”

According to O’Donnell’s rep, the adopted infant was born on Jan. 5 and weighed 5 pounds, 5 ounces.  “Moms and baby are happy and healthy.”

Suffice it to say that 2012 was eventful for the couple.  They got married in NYC in June and both endured serious health issues that included a heart attack suffered by Rosie in August and a diagnosis of desmoid tumors for Michelle, a rare and life-threatening disease.

Rosie has four other adopted children – Blake, Vivienne, Parker and Chelsea – from a previous relationship with Kelli Carpenter.

Rosie O’Donnell, 50, and Michelle Rounds, 41 , were quietly married in a private ceremony in New York on June 9.

The couple, who announced their engagement in December, 2011, originally planned to exchange vows in August, but moved up their plans after Rounds was diagnosed with the rare disease, desmond tumors.

Rounds had the first of several surgeries on June 14, and is now on the road to recovery.

“It is such a rare tumor. It took them quite a while to get an accurate diagnosis,” O’Donnell’s rep Cindi Berger tells PEOPLE magazine.

O’Donnell, who recently suffered a heart attack, announced the wedding news on her blog, posting, “we married in private before her surgery just the 2 of us.”

“when we r both well enough will have the wedding of r dreams surrounded by those we cherish,” she continued. “thankful for the love and support so many have given us during these trying times including all of u stranger-friends
connected thru invisible strands of wi fi,” concluded the post.

Rosie O’Donnell suffered a heart attack last week and considers herself lucky to be alive.

The 50-year-old comic believes it is nothing short of a “miracle” that she survived what doctors characterize as a “widow maker” heart event.

Her coronary artery was 99 percent blocked, requiring the insertion of a stent to restore proper blood flow.

O’Donnell is now resting at home and is feeling well enough to blog about the frightening experience.

She said it all began on August 14 when she played Good Samaritan to “an enormous woman” who needed help getting out of her car in a Nyack, N.Y. parking lot.

Several hours later she experienced an ache in her chest, sore arms that felt bruised, nausea and clammy skin.  She remembered a popular TV ad and popped a Bayer aspirin but hesitated far longer than she should have before seeking medical attention.

RO is now stressing, “Know the symptoms ladies.  Listen to the voice inside, the one we all so easily ignore.  CALL 911 … save yourself.”

Her partner Michelle Rounds is also experiencing health issues.  Rosie recently revealed details of her fiancee’s serious medical condition that caused them to postpone their wedding.

Rosie O’Donnell revealed Friday on her blog that her fiancee Michelle Rounds has been diagnosed with a rare disease.

The couple announced in December that they were planning a summer wedding.  That has all changed following a medical mystery that began many months ago.

Rosie blogged, “Again and again, her pain grew worse.  It seemed impossible.  No one know what was wrong.  Life changed in an instant.”

Doctors determined that Rounds has desmoid tumors, a rare disease that is not cancer but “acts cancerous” and only affects three out of every million people.

O’Donnell revealed, “She is recovering from surgery in June.  She’s getting stronger every day.  We have joined the fight against this disease, raising money and awareness.”

In fact, when the couple does tie the knot they have decided that in lieu of wedding gifts, they’ll ask for donations to the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation.

Recently fired OWN talk show host Rosie O’Donnell stirred the pot during a TODAY appearance on Tuesday while chatting about hot topics with Star Jones and Donny Deutsch.

Rosie isn’t thrilled about the prospect of Lindsay Lohan portraying Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime movie.

She said, “The last thing she did good, she was 16.  I feel very sorry for her.  I think she needs a lot of help.  She needs a lot of time away.  On SNL it wasn’t as though she delivered.  People watched expecting, hoping, wishing, but she needs a lot of help.”

Star Jones believes the movie will be widely viewed for no other reason than to see a “train wreck.”

O’Donnell continued, “I don’t think she’s right for the role, and I don’t think she’s capable at this point of doing what’s needed to portray the character.  I think the interest level in her has waned significantly.”

Donny Deutsch pointed out that Lohan has the potential to be the Elizabeth Taylor of this generation both on and off-screen.  Rosie huffed, “You’re out of your mind.”

Lohan’s spokesman Steve Honig responded to the O’Donnell snit: “I think Rosie should be focused on her own career right now and not everyone else’s.  It’s a shame that she has to be so cruel towards another person in order to keep herself in the news.”

We can’t help but agree that this appears to be a clear cut case of the pot calling the kettle black…
