Rosie O’Donnell Candid Interview with Howard Stern

There are serious marriage issues between former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell and Kelli Carpenter. O’Donnell appeared on Howard Stern’s radio show yesterday to talk about her new gig that will launch November 2, 2009 on Sirius XM to be titled Rosie Radio. In addition to chatting about the new project, she did manage to shed a small amount of light on the marital strife “rumors.”

Kelli and Rosie were married back in 2004 just two weeks after San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom authorized the granting of marriage licenses to same sex couples.

Howard wanted to focus on exactly where the marriage stands at this minute. Rosie admitted to Stern, “We have come to the point where we are seeing (if) what will make everyone happiest is maybe not live together, but continue to parent. We have different styles of living. I’m very messy. She’s very not.”

Stern tried to dig deeper for the “real” reason behind the split. Somehow Rosie being a slob doesn’t seem like a deal breaker and Stern is no fool. He suggested that maybe their sex life had broken down. Rosie would only say, “Kelli and I have alot of issues, and sex wasn’t one of them.”

Our guess is that we won’t hear much more than that in any interview. Rosie did make a statement last week and said they are a family and will work together. Read the rest of the statement at Starpulse.

Rosie O’Donnell’s Marriage Woes

Rumors have been going around for the last month or so that Rosie O’Donnell and her wife Kelli Carpenter were getting a divorce. Rosie’s rep told People magazine earlier this month that these rumors were false.

“There is no truth to this – at all. This is ridiculous, I get this rumor every time Rosie travels for work. Right now she is on tour with Cyndi Lauper.”

Recently Rosie posted this poem on her website, “Marriage is hard I told them/when you’re married 12 years/lemme know how it goes/it ain’t easy/and that’s my comment/that’s all I got for you/It’s real life/just like yours/A family figuring it out.”

O’Donnell and Carpenter married in 2004 and have four children together.

Rosie O’Donnell Lands Sirius XM Radio Show

The extremely outspoken former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell is going back to work. This time she will be heard and not seen. O’Donnell has landed herself a show on Sirius XM Radio.

With the encouragement of Sirius Radio show host Howard Stern, Rosie will have her own two-hour show called Rosie Radio.

Earlier in the year O’Donnell was on Stern’s show and after her guest appearance Howard spoke to Rosie about a new airwaves gig. Sirius then contacted her and she was able to broker a deal that will allow her to work from the comfort of her own home. She had this to say about her new opportunity:

“I think it will be good for me. I’ve been lucky. I’ve had seven years of early retirement. All my kids are in school now, so all day long I have nothing to do. This was the first year that they were all in school all day, and I found myself very bored. I was saying to Kelli, we either need to get another kid or I’ll have to go back to work.”

Work it is! The call in show will air Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET on SIRIUS channel 102 and XM channel 155 beginning this fall.

Rosie O’Donnell: “there will b no more”

Rosie O’Donnell posted a message on her blog following the airing of her one hour NBC variety show Rosie Live. In her online shorthand she said, “there will b no more”.

Nielsen ratings showed that only 5 million viewers tuned in to watch Rosie’s comeback and evidently that doesn’t cut the mustard. Special guests on the show included Alanis Morissette, Clay Aiken, Liza Minnelli, Alec Baldwin and Ne-Yo.

The Hollywood Reporter said:

“There’s nothing like a good holiday variety show, and this was nothing like one.”

Rosie also wrote on her blog that even though the ratings were poor and the reviews harsh, it was still a thrill for her. She had stiff competition from an ABC special that dominated the time slot. Barbara Walters, Rosie’s old boss from The View, interviewed President elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.

This is awesome! First Barbara Walters comes clean and confesses to a love affair with married U.S. Senator Edward Brooke and now she is squealing about her former co-hosts on The View, Rosie O’Donnell and Star Jones. Barbara is currently making her rounds to promote her memoir, Audition. She is one smart cookie and will surely make it a best selling book.

During her interview with Oprah Winfrey, Barbara was critical of the way Star Jones kept secret the fact that she had undergone surgery in order to lose a considerable amount of weight. Walter’s acknowledges that Star wanted everyone to believe that her success with her transformed shape was due to Pilates and portion control.

We had to lie on the set everyday, she was our colleague and she really did not want us to out her…We cared about her, and we thought we owed her.”

When Rosie O’Donnell was brought up, Walters showed affection toward the former outspoken co-host and even went as far as to say she’s an “enormous talent” but that she had emotional issues that made their relationship strained at times.

“If I didn’t do what she hoped I’d do, she felt I’d abandoned her, ” said Walter’s in reference to the fight between Donald Trump and Rosie. Walters said that at the time the story hit the media she was in the Caribbean with Judge Judy. Barbara said:

She had always driven the bus and she could not just ride the bus.”

Now it will be interesting to see if either one of the ex co-hosts will come forward and do a little dishing of their own on Barbara. With Elizabeth still part of the show, it is unlikely we will be treated to any bashing where she is concerned.

Congratulations Ms. Walters. You’ve included all of the ingredients necessary to ensure brisk sales. We smell success.

Rosie O’Donnell says “peace prevails” between herself and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. The two very strongly opinionated women formerly worked together on the daytime talk show The View until they had a blow-out and Rosie said enough is enough.

Rosie was interviewed on her way into a Broadway premiere of The Little Mermaid last night. The reporter asked about the ongoing battle with Hasselbeck. O’Donnell said that Elisabeth’s second child, 2 month old Taylor Thomas, is adorable and that not only did she send lots of gifts for him but she also sent his 2 year old big sister Grace gifts too. She added that the two have been exchanging emails.

It sounds like they must talk quite a bit these days. Rosie didn’t seem to have anything negative to say about her former co-worker. She even went on to say Elisabeth looks as if she adopted because her body doesn’t look like it gave birth just 2 months ago.

Hasselbeck returned to work this week and is lucky enough to bring her child to work with her. If you can’t remember the final blowout fight between the two talk show hosts, continue on to the next page and check out the video.

Rosie O’Donnell’s loose lips have sunk her ship before it even entered the harbor. Turns out the much rumored negotiation for a prime cable spot on MSNBC is not to be – because Rosie couldn’t keep it to herself. The network apparently balked at the mounting speculation and has nixed the deal.

Rosie spilled the beans while peddling her celebrity detox book. She couldn’t help herself and alluded to a new gig where she would be head to head with the guy in the red suspenders – a not so subtle reference to Larry King.

The ex host of The View seems to be taking the news in stride. On her blog website she said that everything happens for a reason and there was nothing she could do about it. Awfully stoic for the usually vocal Rosie.

Rosie O’Donnell is reportedly in talks with NBC that could land her on primetime TV in the 9:00 p.m. weeknight slot going head to head against “Larry King Live” on CNN and “Hannity & Colmes” on Fox News.

NBC has reported been looking at several different projects for the former host of the ABC morning show, The View.

Rosie alluded to a possible new job at a weekend book signing but gave no specific details. NBC is not commenting either so we are short on details at this point.

A primetime show on an evening news cable channel would certainly give O’Donnell the bully pulpit needed to continue her campaign against the war. We all recall how she railed against George Bush, Donald Trump and her working partner Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

NBC would be wise to move quickly before Rosie’s star fades completely. She was a hot commodity but right now she’s just a bookseller.

Rosie O’Donnell is all about book signing these days. Her long promised book, “Celebrity Detox” was released at the beginning of October.

The book was touted to be a tell-all that would dish on all of Rosie’s growing list of enemies including her old friend and boss Barbara Walters of The View. Early reviews indicate it jumps all over the place and doesn’t live up to the hype.

One might find it odd that O’Donnell canceled all of the media interviews that had been planned on the talk show circuit. She backed out on Oprah and Diane Sawyer to name a few. Rosie indicates she is not ready to talk about the content yet. Yikes!

According to The New York Times, Rosie has purchased a new view in Manhattan. She and partner Kelli have plunked down nearly $2 million for a 2 bedroom apartment in the heart of the theater district. She has long gushed about her love of Broadway so this is no surprise.

O’Donnell recently filmed a guest appearance on Nip/Tuck – her third in the past two seasons. Her recurring character is Dawn Budge, a woman who wins $381 million in the lottery and wants to have some work done.
