Salma Hayek & Francois-Henri Pinault at Boston to Galway Ocean Race

We’ve got some magnificent photos of actress Salma Hayek and her new husband Francois-Henri Pinault, who turned out to lend their support to the Puma Ocean Racing Team yesterday in Boston. Sailing fans from up and down the eastern seaboard were on hand to witness leg seven of the Boston to Galway Volvo Ocean Race.

Hayek and Pinault were aboard the il mostro and were photographed manning the sailing vessel. Skipper Ken Read said, “Salma christened il mostro in Boston Harbor a year ago to the day. It’s great to have our boat’s godmother with us as we leave Boston and I hope she’ll bring us good luck in this leg.”

Hayek and Pinault wed at City Hall in Paris on Valentine’s Day and then opted to renewed their vows with friends and family as witnesses on April 25, 2009 in Venice.

Pinault is a French businessman and CEO of PPR. His father Francois Pinault is a billionaire who is ranked 39th richest in the world with a net worth estimated at $16.9 billion.

Salma and Pinault have a twenty-month-old daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault. The actress recently brought her daughter onto the set of 30 Rock, where she had a guest role opposite Alec Baldwin. He remarked afterward that he found her to be the most fabulous actress he had ever worked with. Check out some pics of the actor with Salma and Valentina here.

Gorgeous actress Salma Hayek married Francois-Henri Pinault on Valentine’s Day in romantic Paris – check it out here. They have now invited their friends and family to join them for a second set of nuptials in Venice this weekend.

On hand for the celebration are Penelope Cruz, Ashley Judd, Luis Miguel, Lucy Liu, Woody Harrelson, Ed Norton, Olivier Martinez, Charlize Theron, Stuart Townsend, Anna Wintour, David Blaine and even former French president Jacques Chirac.

The group began to converge on the famed Italian city on Thursday and gathered last night for a masquerade ball rehearsal dinner – photos available here. Hayek, 42, recently told People magazine, “I think a wedding is about love, friends, family and fun.”

Pinault, the 46 year old son of billionaire Francois Pinault, is the CEO of PPR, a luxury goods company. The couple have a daughter, nineteen month old Valentina Paloma Pinault, who is in Venice with her parents for the festivities.

On again, off again couple Salma Hayek and Francois Henri Pinault showed Paris what love is all about on Valentine’s Day by tying the knot in a small ceremony at City Hall.

The newlyweds met in 2006 in Italy, got engaged and had a daughter, Valentina Paloma in September of 2007. They called off their engagement last year but reunited within a few months. Sometimes absence does make the heart grow fonder.

In the last few years Salma has emerged as a savvy business woman. Hayek is an executive producer for the hit ABC television show Ugly Betty and she also owns her own production company, Ventanazul in association with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.

Pinault is chief executive of PPR SA, a French luxury retail group with some impressive labels, including Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Puma. His worth is estimated at $17 billion.

Selma Hayek in Sierra Leone

Salma Hayek traveled to the African country Sierra Leone last fall for the second annual Pampers/UNICEF program to stop the spread of maternal and neonatal tetanus. While there she encountered a woman trying to breast feed her baby.

“The baby was perfectly healthy, but the mother didn’t have milk. He was very hungry. I was weaning Valentina, but I still had a lot of milk that I was pumping, so I breast-fed the baby,” she says, her voice dropping.

“You should have seen his eyes. When he felt the nourishment, he immediately stopped crying.”

Malnutrition is so rampant in underdeveloped countries such as Sierra Leone that doctors there say they would like to see women breast feed for two years. Unfortunately that is rare because culture mores forbid sexual intercourse with breastfeeding women, so men urge their wives to quickly stop.

“It is the best thing you can do for your child, not only the bonding, that’s how you build the immune system, so in a country like Africa imagine how important it is for the mothers do that,” Hayek said. “But here, there is the belief that if you are breast-feeding you cannot have a sexual life so the husbands, of course, of these women are really encouraging them to stop and this is just a taboo.”

Nightline’s Cynthia McFadden followed Hayek on her goodwill trip and cameras rolled as she breastfed the one week old baby boy, who ironically shares the same birthday as her daughter.

When the same interviewer caught up with Hayek last night at the CNN Heroes tribute award show, the actress was equally kind in her remarks about Baldwin. “We had such a great time. I love Alec to death. He energizes me…because he is so talented. He really, truly inspires me.”
