Hoodie Awards 2009 – Red Carpet PHOTOS

Sherri Shepherd was among celebrity guests who graced the red carpet on Saturday, August 15th at Steve Harvey’s Hoodie Awards 2009. The event, sponsored by Ford, was held at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Host Steve Harvey, a comedian, actor and radio personality, was on hand for the 7th Annual event with his wife Marjorie Bridges-Woods. The event honors the nation’s best small businesses, educators and community leaders in several categories for the contributions they make to their communities.

This years categories were best high school, car wash, soul food place, nail shop, barbershop, fried chicken, high school teacher, barbecue place, beauty salon, church, church choir and community leader. Each category had a sponsor. The soul food category was sponsored by Hillshire Farms.

Sherri Shepherd has been working out and slimming down in 2009. She revealed her ‘new’ body in a swimsuit last week on The View – photos and video here.

Sherri Shepherd’s Shout-Out VIDEO to Elisabeth Hasselbeck

As was reported by this site earlier, The View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck gave birth to her third child on Sunday. Her new son, named Isaiah Timothy, joins big sister Grace, 4, and big brother Taylor, 21-months.

Hasselbeck’s co-host Sherri Shepherd wasn’t able to send her best wishes this week from the set of The View because they aren’t filming. If you tuned in on Monday, like we did, you soon realized it was a rerun and Hasselbeck’s exciting event has gone unheralded by her co-workers…..that is until now.

Shepherd, who recently slimmed down and donned a swimsuit for the show, is taking advantage of her downtime to film her new sitcom Sherri. She took time out to record a little congratulatory shout-out to her friend and co-host Elisabeth.

Sherri said, “I just want to give a shout-out to my girl, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Tim Hasselbeck. Congratulations on Isaiah Timothy Hasselbeck! Auntie Sherri can’t wait to come in and see her little nephew. Give my love to Gracie and Taylor Thomas. I love you.”

Shepherd also ‘tweeted’ that she won $50,000 for March of Dimes on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Congrat’s Sherri….well done.

Sherry Shepherd revealed her bathing suit body August 6th on The View.

Last night Sherri tweeted:

Thank you so much to EVERYONE for the encouragement about me doing my bathing suit… tomorrow’s the big day!!! I know you all been rooting

Shepherd announced her plan to reveal her bathing suit body on The View in May. She followed through this morning, strutting her stuff in a black one-piece bathing suit with pink and white trim, and black high heel pumps.

Shepherd worked with a nutritionist and trainer during the Bathing Suit Challenge, with a few glitches along the way, but the hard work definitely paid off.

Shepherd was surprised at the end of the segment with a table full of her favorite foods.

Notably absent for Sherri’s big reveal was co-host Whoopie Goldberg, who “has the day off,” according to Barbara Walters.

Today and Wednesday on The View, the panel of women are dedicating the full hour to pre and post inauguration activities. They have dubbed the two shows Red, White and View.

One of the pre-recorded segments today showed Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd visiting Washington D.C. Elisabeth, a staunch Republican, wanted to get into the White House. The comedic piece ended with Hasselbeck visiting the Oval Office and actually getting to thank President George W. Bush personally and exchange hugs.

Hasselbeck has already received favor from the current administration in the form of an invite to a State Dinner for Queen Elizabeth.

Throughout the past few years, she has butted heads with her co-hosts over politics in general, and Bush in particular. Despite some pretty rugged battles, she has never wavered in her steadfast loyalty to the party and the sitting president. She also hit the campaign trail with Sarah Palin during the final weekend before the presidential election.

Sherri Shepherd sat for an interview with black women’s Christian magazine Precious Times. As is so often the case, the comedian and day time talk show co-host of The View, shared too much information and has gotten herself into trouble yet again.

Not only did Sherri flippantly acknowledge that she had gotten multiple abortions, but also lamented the fact that her boss Barbara Walters needed to get some religion.

The firestorm brewed overnight and it was the first topic on The View this morning. Check out what Sherri had to say about the entire mess. She even called Barbara Walters in Paris to smooth over her major gaff.

She received kid glove treatment from her usually vocal co-hosts. Whoopi Goldberg, in particular, was very solicitous – which was amazing and very uncharacteristic.

Sherri Shepherd is an Emmy award winning comedian and a co-host on ABC morning talk show The View. The television celebrity recently sat down for an interview with the black Christian women’s magazine Precious Times.

Shepherd shared the fact that before she converted to Christianity, she led a promiscuous lifestyle.

“I was in a very abusive relations. I was sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions that I would like to count. I have very low self esteem and just wanted to die.”

The comedian is apparently very worried about the state of Barbara Walters soul. She may have made a major blunder in sharing the following sentiment about her sometimes prickly boss:

“Oh, sometimes I say, ‘Lord, Juanita Bynum or Joyce Myers would be so good at this table. They could lay hands on Barbara Walters and get her saved. I ask the Lord ‘Why am I here?’ I have to trust God when he says ‘Because I said so.’”

Shepherd is really a woman of sharp contrasts. She has put her foot in her mouth several times on The View, heaping a fair amount of criticism upon herself. She was even chastised by working partner Whoopi Goldberg, who said that Sherri needs to think more before speaking because a lot of what she says “just isn’t appropriate.”

The firestorm hit with full force overnight. Shepherd opened The View today with a 5 minute spin of the entire situation. See Sherri damage control video here.
