Comedic actor Bill Cosby will make his television comeback with a new family sitcom on NBC that will feature him as a patriarch in a multi-generational family.
‘The Cosby Show’ star has signed a deal in which he will develop and star in a half-hour television series for NBC. The show will be produced by Tom Werner, who also worked his magic on the 80′s hit.
Cosby, 76, who has been off the air for 14 years, has been mulling over the idea with Werner for some time. They are now working with writers and categorize the upcoming show as an “off-season development track” that has not yet received a pilot order.
The veteran actor said, “There is a viewership out there that wants to see comedy, and warmth, and love, and surprise, and cleverness, without going into the party attitude.”
“They would like to see a married couple that acts like they love each other, warts and all, children who respect the parenting, and the comedy of people who make mistakes.”
In other projects, Cosby is working on a reboot of his animated series ‘Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids.’
