Last weekend I was invited by TNT to attend their Armchair Detective Weekend press junket in Beverly Hills for a chance to put my armchair detectiveness to the test, as well as sit down for interviews with cast members from several of their crime dramas, including Major Crimes, Rizzoli & Isles, Perception, and King & Maxwell. Needless to say, it didn’t take very long to respond with a resounding YESSSSSS!

One of the perks of attending the event was being able to watch the season premieres of several shows which haven’t aired yet. One of my favorites, hands down, is newcomer King and Maxwell. Based on David Baldacci’s award-winning books, the show is fast paced, laced with humor, and the dynamics between Jon Tenney and Rebecca Romijn are sizzling. The series premiere is Monday, June 10, at 10pm ET/PT following TNT’s hit drama series Major Crimes.

I took my daughter along for the trip as a birthday present, and we were greeted by our driver at LAX and swept away to the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Some of you may remember the hotel from the movie Pretty Woman. Once home to Elvis Presley and Warren Beatty, famous guests include Elton John, Al Pacino, Michael Douglas, Angelica Huston, Farrah Faucett, and more recently, Robert Pattinson. Over the weekend, it was rumored that Jordin Sparks and Carlos Santana were spotted there, and while I can’t attest to that, I can say that we saw Saudi Arabian rally driver Yazeed Al-Rajhi — a guest at the hotel, get into his $2 million Pagani Huayra (illegal in this country I might add) and drive away. Welcome to Beverly Hills.

Yazeed Al-Rajhi's Pagani Huayra

The event was attended by 70+ radio DJs from across the country and four bloggers, myself included. We were treated to private parties that were attended by actors from each of the shows, and the weekend also included a murder mystery hosted by Keith & Margo’s Murder Mystery USA. Every detail of the weekend was perfect, from the celebrity-studded private parties to the hour-long massage in the hotel’s famed spa. Ahhhhhh. But I digress.

We were briefed about the murder mystery at dinner in the Royal Suite with instructions to “trust no one.” After dinner, we headed to the rooftop for a party that included a cigar cutter, bourbon tasting and a forensic artist doing sketches from guests’ descriptions of loved ones.  Trying to describe my daughter in detail was hard enough, I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to try to give details about a perpetrator you only caught a glimpse of.

Major Crimes actors G.W. Bailey (Lt. Provenza) and Tony Denison (Lt. Andy Flynn), were two of our co-hosts for the weekend. We were assigned teams at breakfast Saturday morning, given clues at various events over the weekend, and left to our own devices to figure out who-done-it. It was a great way to break the ice, because the only way to get to the bottom of the mystery was to talk to everyone and try to determine the culprit and their motive. You learn a lot of interesting things about people this way.

Also on Saturday was a press junket, where I conducted interviews with several cast members from each show, including Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander from Rizzoli and Isles; Mary McDonnell, G.W. Bailey, and Tony Denison from Major Crimes; Eric McCormack and Rachael Leigh Cook from Perceptions; and King and Maxwell‘s Jon Tenney. I’ll be posting those interviews in the next week. As a side note, for those of you who have been wondering if there will be a Will and Grace reunion, be sure to check back for my interview with Eric McCormack. Eric portrays Perception‘s schizophrenic Dr. Daniel Pierce with aplomb, and this show will definitely be in my summer lineup.

Bailey and Denison, as well as other cast members from Major Crimes, Rizzoli and Isles, King and Maxwell, and Perception, attended the Hollywood party at Boulevard3 Saturday night, where more murder mystery events unfolded.

The whole case was resolved Sunday morning at breakfast after each team turned in their best guesses answers. For the record, my team was runner-up, but only because we missed writing down one crucial fact prior to turning in our synopsis. The funniest answer was from one of the other teams: “Andrea the blogger and Jessica the waitress (my daughter) did it.” It was a fun weekend with lots of interesting people. Check out what our pals at Betty Confidential, Ausxip and Rizzles Unlimited had to say for another perspective on the weekend.

Major Crimes and King and Maxwell air Monday nights on TNT starting June 10th 9/8C. Rizzoli & Isles and Perception air Tuesday nights on TNT starting June 25th at 9/8C.

Kris Jenner Hollywood Reporter Cover

Kris Jenner launches her new FOX talk show ‘Kris’ in mid-July and has already begun promoting the new television gig that is being billed as a six-week trial run.

She admits, “Growing up on Merv Griffin and Mike Douglas, I just loved talk shows. I thought, ‘Wow, wouldn’t it be a dream come true to have this job?’”

The show will focus on fashion, fitness, beauty and celebrity chat.  She hopes that viewers will be inspired to follow their dreams because “so many women give up in life when they get a little bit older. I want to be a positive influence. I want to come from a really good place. Some people are just lost, and maybe I can be an inspiration.”

The Kardashian family matriarch covers and is featured in an article in the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter, where she talks about her personal life and business.

Despite the negative press regarding cheating, divorce, plastic surgery, scripted reality shows, Kris is adamant that ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ has been nothing but a positive experience for her family.

She said, “We’ve created businesses and a workplace. It’s so funny that somebody can criticize a show like ours, and yet we employ hundreds of people. And it’s been such a great learning experience for all of my kids. It’s the best education I could offer them.”

Kris claims her family is the same on and off the cameras, “There really are no scripts. Most people don’t believe that, but we don’t have anything reconsidered.”

Prediction time … will Jenner turn her six-week stint into yet another money making proposition for the Kardashian brand?

tnt shows

I am an amazing armchair detective…I mean it…no, really. I typically figure out the plot twists in murder mysteries and crime dramas way before it’s revealed at the end. I’m also really great at getting to the bottom of things in my own life. It’s hard to pull the wool over my eyes for very long. Trust me, no one does better detective work than a jealous woman. Just sayin’. I’ve even helped a few friends uncover facts in their own personal dramas.

Perhaps I missed my true calling as a detective, but I was really excited when TNT offered me the opportunity to watch 5 of their crime dramas, and put my armchair detectiveness to the test.

Major Crimes and King & Maxwell both air Monday, June 10th.

Major Crimes is a spin-off of The Closer, starring Mary McDonnell as Captain Sharon Raydor, who has been selected to replace Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, who was portrayed by Kyra Sedgwick. If you were a fan of The Closer, you’ll want to give Major Crimes a look on Mondays at 9/8c.

King & Maxwell is a fast-paced who-done-it based on David Baldacci’s bestselling novels, starring Rebecca Romijn and Jon Tenney as private detectives Michelle Maxwell and Sean King, which debuts June 10th at 10/9c. I was privileged to view the pilot episode, and this will definitely be on my DVR summer lineup. Romijn and Tenney play well off each other and have great on-screen chemistry. Although I figured out the “bad guys” from the “good guys” from the beginning (hey, I told you, I’m good at this stuff), there were plenty of twists and turns to keep it interesting, and I enjoyed watching the story unfold.

Rizzoli & Isles and Perception air Tuesday, June 25.

Rizzoli & Isles (9/8c) follows Boston police detective Jane Clementine Rizzoli, played by Angie Harmon, and medical examiner Dr. Maura Isles, played by Sasha Alexander. Unlikely best friends, Rizzoli is a brash, outspoken tomboy, while Isles is a socially awkward, mild-mannered fashion plate who breaks out in hives when she lies. With an interesting cast of characters that includes Jane’s control freak mother, and her two younger brothers, and Maura’s wealthy adoptive mother and her newly discovered biological father — a Mafia boss, the show has lots of interesting and colorful dynamics outside of the relationship between the main characters, and plenty of relationship and personal drama outside the typical crime drama.

Eric McCormack, best known for his role as Will Truman on Will and Grace, is brilliant as Dr. Daniel Pierce in TNT’s crime drama Perception (10/9c). And although I pride myself on my armchair detectiveness, when I first saw him as Dr. Pierce, there was a “where do I know him from?” moment for this avid Will and Grace fan. Dr. Pierce is a schizophrenic neuroscience professor with special abilities of perception who has been recruited to help the FBI by former student Kate Moretti, played by Rachael Leigh Cook. Natalie Vincent, played by Kelly Rowan, is Dr. Pierce’s best friend…or is she? If you’re already a fan of the show, you won’t want to miss the season 2 premiere for a shocking revelation that things are not always as they seem. If you missed season 1 all together, this episode will catch you up on all you need to know. Rounding out the main cast is Max Lewicki played by Arjay Smith. Lewicki is Dr. Pierce’s teaching assistant assigned the arduous task of keeping Pierce centered in the real world.

Angus T. Jones

Angus T. Jones, Jake on the long-running hit CBS sitcom ‘Two and a Half Men,’ won’t be returning as a full time cast member for the 11th season.

In November 2012 Angus burned a few bridges when his YouTube “filth” confessional went viral.  Among other things, he begged viewers to stop warping their brains by watching the show.

To his credit, he later apologized “for showing indifference and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed.”

CBS entertainment chief Nina Tassler acknowledged, “The kid is 19 years old. I’ve got a 24-year-old. Between the ages of 19 and 24, there’s been plenty of things my kid has said that I wish he hadn’t. The bottom line is that cooler heads prevailed.”

The 19-year-old in question has since decided that he wants to focus on his music career.

During the upcoming season Jones will infrequently join co-stars Ashton Kutcher and Jon Cryer, who have both signed one-year contracts.

Despite the fact that Kutcher was brought on as the lead actor to replace Charlie Sheen, he has been seriously upstaged by Cryer–who took home a Primetime Emmy in 2012 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

That said, we’d love to know what the network is paying Cryer versus Kutcher for season 11.

Halle Berry picture

Halle Berry was dressed to stun last night during a guest appearance on the ‘Tonight Show,’ a situation that wasn’t lost on her host Jay Leno.

She wore a low-cut strapless dress that revealed a great deal of cleavage.  Frankly … we aren’t even sure what she talked about. We kid, we kid.

During her chat with Leno, the actress commented on another sexy gown, the Donatella Versace dress that she wore to the Oscars.

Halle Berry Oscars

Berry said, “I had a conversation with Donatella Versace and told her that I really wanted to go to the Oscars as a Bond Girl, if a Bond Girl would go in 2013. So she came up with her idea of what it was, but she’s out of the country.”

“She put it in a suitcase and shipped it here, and I got it the day before the Oscars.  I had some other dress I was going to wear, which was beautiful. But I pulled this out and it fit perfectly, and I just thought, ‘Wow.’”

Halle said she felt like she was “wearing a Ferrari” and then Jay of course took that to a whole different level –wondering if she could drive a stick.  It was kinda creepy coming from Jay.

Halle confirms she’ll reprise her role as the weather-manipulating mutant Storm in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past.’

Check out Halle’s Leno dress below.  Love it or hate it?
