Uma Thurman Speaks Before NYC Supreme Court (PHOTOS)

Uma Thurman and a host of other celebrities appeared before the judicial bench at Manhattan’s New York Supreme Court today. As former jurors, they were invited to take part in Jury Appreciation Day. The event is used to educate the public that if celebrities can do it so can the rest of us. Signage in the courtroom proclaimed: Jury Duty, Serve With Pride.

Besides Uma, other former jurors on hand were Neil Sedaka, Katie Couric, Nathan Lane, Ed Burns, Kathleen Turner and Vera Wang. They were there to ‘testify’ that jury duty is a privilege, an honor, is educational and interesting.

Lane shared this with the crowd, “The Revolutionary War was fought so you could serve jury duty. This I didn’t know.” Katie Couric recalled that her favorite line about jury duty came from sex expert Dr. Ruth Westheimer: “It’s a great way to pick up guys.”

Accompanying Thurman was her mega rich fiance’ Arpad Busson. The London based French financier has two sons from a previous relationship with supermodel Elle McPherson.

Jennifer Aniston will grace this week’s cover of The New York Times Magazine, Sunday newspaper supplement. The actress has been making the rounds on the talk show circuit and sitting for interviews with the top magazines in anticipation of several movies that will hit theaters in the coming months.

Marley & Me will open on Christmas Day and He’s Just Not That Into You in February 2009. Aniston sat for an interview that will appear in the Sunday NYT in which she says she is really a very private person - no surprise there.

When asked if she would ever consider MySpace or Facebook to connect with her fans, she was quick to say she would not. Aniston tries to shield herself from what is written about her and said, “It’s not for me. If I look at it, I’ll be affected. It’s like dancing with the devil.”

She has kept her silence about her divorce until recently allowing a little trash talk to slip during an interview for the December issue of Vogue. She reportedly shocked Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie by dredging up the past after so much time had elapsed, referring to her ex-husband’s partner as “uncool”. Even pal Oprah questioned Jen’s motivation during Aniston’s recent guest appearance.

Jen did admit to enjoying website 1stdibs.com because she loves looking at furniture. She also likes to play Scrabble and poker and recently discovered Wii.

Model and actress Lorelei Shellist has written an autobiography chronicling her journey from teenage runaway to runway model.

Runway Runaway “takes readers on a breathless journey around the globe with a backstage pass to high fashion, true romance, and rock and roll from some of the biggest names in the business.”

The book details Shellist’s life from a runaway at age 15 to the catwalks of Paris as a top model for designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Yves St. Laurent, Christian Lacroix, Bob Mackie, Geoffrey Beene, Ralph Lauren, Gian Franco Ferre and Giorgio Armani.

Shellist was 24 when she met Def Leppard guitarist Steve Clark, whom she calls “the love of my life.” Of their first meeting she writes, “Our attraction was surreal and intoxicating. He had an ardor about him that reminded me of a peacock spreading its feathers. It was love at first sight. I didn’t know anything about him other than the fact that he played in an English rock group that had just been on tour in America.”

“At that moment” she says, “I could not have cared less if he were a street-sweeper; something about him just stole my heart.”

Clark died of an accidental overdose in 1991, which Shellist says was a result of “living on the other side of glamour.”

The book release date is November 25.

Paris Hilton and rocker boyfriend Benji Madden have called it quits but “remain very good friends,” according to Hilton’s publicist Alanna McCarthy.

Rumors that there was trouble in paradise began a few weeks ago, then earlier this week photos of Hilton getting cozy with ex-boyfriend Stavros Niachros hit the net, leading to speculation that the relationship had taken a nosedive.

Now there are rumors that Prince William may be behind the split.

According to an inside source, the handsome prince and the hotel heiress spent time together while she was filming her reality show “Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend” in London, and have plans to meet up in Australia to ring in the New Year.

Hilton and Madden are booked to attend a launch party for a new social networking site, Bongo Virus, on New Years Eve. Paris will host the event, while Benji is scheduled to spin.

Bongo Virus confirmed that Prince William is invited to the bash, but wouldn’t comment further.

Prince William will not be confirming his attendance until just before the event “for security reasons,” but he is “pretty keen to meet up with Paris,” said the insider.

Whether Prince William has anything to do with the split or not, it doesn’t seem that Paris is having any trouble moving on. In addition to being spotted with her ex in Miami on Saturday, she was also seen at West Hollywood hot spot Apple, partying with gal pals and dancing on the couches into the wee hours of Wednesday morning.

Cheetah Girls Booted from Macy’s Parade After Racy Photos Leaked

America will have to do without the Cheetah Girls during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year because they’ve been uninvited. Macy’s officials are citing “scheduling issues” as the reason the girl group won’t appear in the parade but according to the New York Daily News, the semi-nude photos of Adrienne Bailon were just too much for the wholesome department store chain.

The pictures featured Bailon in a bra and nothing else. Her publicist, Jonathan Jaxson, first claimed the photos had been stolen at JFK airport a week earlier in a laptop heist. He has since changed his tune and indicates it was all a publicity stunt to try to alter the singer’s image to be more adult and less Disney.

The fallout has begun. Says Jaxson: “Adrienne wanted me to plant the story about the laptop. She wanted to distance herself from the Cheetah Girls. She decided, ‘Let’s spice it up’ and say possible nude photos were stolen from her laptop…I’ve done this before with several stars and we’ve had great success, but this is the first time it’s even bitten me in the rear or a client.”

“The ceremony will be small. Originally we were talking elopement and now we might have a few people there.”

Green seemed confident that the press would not be around for their big day - adding that the media might hear about the affair a week after the event.

Pamela Anderson Posts Open Letter to Obama

Pamela Anderson has posted a blog entry on her website that is intended as an open letter to President-elect Barack Obama. The blonde bombshell apparently wanted to pass along some good ideas for helping him to improve the economy and the environment at the same time.

Her ideas are varied and rambling and include promoting vegetarianism and castrating molesters. A particularly interesting snippet by Pamela:

“I think we should Legalize Marijuana, tax and monitor farm Hemp, etc. This would make our borders less corrupt and then I think eventually this will be a more secure option and save children in the long run. We should be able to farm Hemp in America - it’s just silly - it would create jobs - and be good for the environment.”

Jennifer Garner Stalker Prompts Restraining Order

Jennifer Garner went to court on November 7th to ask a judge for a protection order against Steven Burky. The 36 year old fan is 6′1″, weighs 145 lb and has blonde hair and blue eyes. Garner and her lawyer told the court that he has been engaging in “excessive and harassing behavior” toward the actress since 2002.

Things have escalated in recent months, prompting her to seek help from the court system. In her written affidavit, she stated that he has been sending “packages and letters containing delusional and paranoid thoughts and following me around the country.”

His letter writing campaign has exhibited increasingly bizarre and threatening behavior. He has shown up on the actresses doorstep, saying that God has sent him a vision that she is being persecuted and might die because of it.

Garner showed the judge reams of notes and birthday cards. Her security guard (see top photo), Dennis Bridwell also made a declaration attesting that Burky tried to gain entrance to her business office dressed as a monk.

The judge granted her a temporary restraining order that prohibits the alleged stalker from possessing or trying to obtain a gun. He must also stay at least 100 yards away from Jennifer, her husband Ben Affleck, their two year old daughter Violet, as well as the nanny, housekeeper and her assistant.

Garner went back to court today to ask a judge to make the temporary order permanent. He extended the order for a period of three years. According to ET, Burky is currently locked up in a psychiatric hospital ward.

The couple are expecting their second child this month.

Victoria Ann Chacon Arrested for Sending Topless Photos to 14 Year Old

Victoria Ann Chacon, a 27 year old former teacher, was arrested Tuesday on charges of distributing harmful material to a minor. The charge stems from an incident that first surfaced in March when a 14 year old San Antonio area teen’s parents found racy love letters written by Chacon.

The arrest affidavit states that in two letters, “Chacon professes her love for the teen, about how passionate he is, and about how she feels when she and the teen kiss each other.”

Police were not able to get a statement from the boy until a few months later when his parents found Chacon’s cellphone in their son’s possession that had topless photos of Chacon. The two first met at church, where Chacon served as the unnamed boy’s Sunday School teacher.

Chacon was placed on administrative leave from Somerset Junior High School when the initial allegations were raised, according to Somerset Independent School District spokesman Maury Vasques. She resigned shortly thereafter.

The district has found no evidence of inappropriate contact between Chacon and her Somerset students while she was employed as a teacher. The 14 year old boy in question does not attend school in Somerset school district.
