Corey Feldman appeared last night on Larry King Live to talk about the tragic and unexpected death of his close friend Corey Haim. Feldman told show host Larry King that he is “angry, hurt and sad.”

He said, “In this entertainment industry we build people up as children, we put them on pedestals, and then, when we decide they’re not marketable anymore, we walk away from them. Then we taunt them and we tease them. Why is it ok to kick somebody when they’re down? I don’t think it should be tolerated anymore.”

Feldman said that his friend died “very destitute, very broke” with no car and few friends. He characterized Haim’s history of substance abuse as “long and detailed.” He said the his friend did manage to pull himself together after learning that his mother had cancer.

Feldman said, “He shaped up. He got his act together. When his mom got ill, it was the first time I ever saw Corey grow up.” He cautions people not to jump to conclusions until the coroner’s report is released.

TMZ has released new information suggesting that Haim’s Los Angeles psychiatrist wrote him four new prescriptions for Vicodin, Valium, plus the antipsychotic medication halopridol and the muscle relaxer Soma just days before he died.

Feldman is also a former child star who is in the middle of a messy divorce from his wife of seven years, Susie Sprague Feldman. They are battling in court over custody of their five-year-old son.
