Celebrity legal eagle Gloria Allred has her crosshairs trained on the movie industry. Allred will hold a press conference today at 11:00 a.m. PT in order to take pot shots at actress Hilary Swank, the star and executive producer of the movie Conviction.

The film is based on the real life story of Kenneth Waters, who was convicted of brutally murdering Katharina Brow in 1980. After 18 years behind bars, DNA proved that blood samples used to convict the suspect were not Waters’ and he was subsequently released from prison.

The story is told from the perspective of Waters’ sister, and her journey to prove his innocence. So, what’s the issue? The children of the murder victim were not notified about the movie project, nor given an opportunity to weigh in.

Allred claims: “The murder victim’s children feel that no proper respect or compassion have been shown by Ms. Swank for the murder victim and her family.”
