What. On. Earth? Surveillance video from a Met Gala party has captured Solange Knowles attacking her sister Beyonce's husband Jay Z.
In the video, Solange is definitely not holding back, kicking and hitting wildly while a bodyguard attempts to hold her back.
Truly...not much in the celebrity world shocks me, but this leaves me dumbfounded.
No word on what provoked the attack. The group steps into the elevator at the Standard Hotel in NYC, where a Met Gala after party was being hosted. Immediately after the group steps in, Solange begins screaming at Jay Z and goes absolutely crazy. Beyonce stands out of the way, appearing calm.
Is this a normal thing that happens? Why wasn't she shocked? WHAT IS THIS LIFE?
TMZ first posted the video, also noting that the bodyguard appeared to hit the emergency stop button at the 12th floor...presumably to keep others from boarding the elevator so the fight would remain private.
As the group exited the building, Beyonce and Solange got in a car together while the bodyguard directed Jay Z to a separate car.
Hip hop artist and entrepreneur Jay Z and Beyoncehave adopted a vegan diet for the next 22 days to see if they want to pursue a long-term lifestyle change.
The rapper wrote about it yesterday on his Life+Times blog, "Psychologists have said it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. On the 22nd day, you've found the way. There's something spiritual to me about it being my 44th birthday and the serendipity behind the number of days in this challenge; 22 (2+2=4) coupled with the fact that the challenge ends on Christmas day ... It just feels right!"
He said candidly, "I don't know what happens after Christmas. A semi-vegan? A full plant-based diet? Or just a spiritual and physical challenge? We'll see."
Sounds like Jay is into spiritual numerology ... or perhaps he has simply been reading Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP website and is ready to test the waters. In any case, the entertainer promises to post his progress.
Happy Birthday Jay Z! Hope you get to enjoy a BIG piece of cake! On second thought -- that probably goes against the rules of a vegan lifestyle. Gwyneth?
Forbes released their 2013 list of the 'Highest Earning Celebrity Couples' and we don't think you will be surprised that Beyonce and Jay-Z landed at the top.
The A-list couple are undoubtedly two of the savviest business people in entertainment. They pulled in an estimated $95 million in earnings between June 2012 and June 2013.
Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen have capitalized on their fame in order to cash in on other lucrative business opportunities unrelated to football or modeling. Their estimated combined earnings are reported to be $80 million over the past twelve months.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt came in third with a combined $50 million. Unlike the other top couples on our list, they haven't aggressively expanded their business holdings beyond acting, but do earn a princely sum per film.
Power couple Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis made a whopping $35 million, while Kanye West and Kim Kardashian nipped at their heels with $30 million.
Forbes talked to managers, agents, producers and other in-the-know movers and shakers to come up with estimates for each celebrity’s entertainment-related earnings between June 2012 and June 2013. They did not subtract for taxes, agent fees or other celebrity related expenses.
Music mogul and entrepreneur Jay-Z has a personal wealth estimated by Forbes at $500 million, but his clothing brand Rocawear has reportedly stiffed a New York wholesaler to the tune of $450,000.
Page Six indicates the apparel group ordered $1 million in brand name imprinted merchandise from iSource NYC last year, with shipments arriving from Pakistan in April-June 2012.
According to the lawsuit, Rocawear paid for only half of last year's "urban-style specialty goods" and iSource is requesting an additional payment of $450,000 plus 9 percent interest.
Rocawear is a clothing manufacturer based in New York that was created in 1999 by Damon Dash and Jay-Z. In 2007 the rights to the brand were sold to Iconix Brand Group for $204 million, with Jay-Z reportedly retaining his stake in the company and continuing to oversee the marketing, licensing, and product development.
The company partnered in 2011 with Pharrell Williams' clothing label, Billionaire Boys Club.
Jay-Z recently relinquished his ownership stake in the Brooklyn Nets in order to become a certified sports agent as part of his newly-launched business venture Roc Nation Sports.
Reps for Rocawear have not yet commented on the lawsuit.
Jay-Zreleased his latest song 'Open Letter' this morning in response to critics who questioned his recent fifth anniversary trip with Beyonce to Havana, Cuba.
The couple received clearance for their "educational" journey from the U.S. Treasury Department after declaring their intention to meet with artists and musicians with evening trips to nightclubs to take in some live music.
Three prominent Republican Cuban Americans, Marco Rubio, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, pitched a collective political fit. Senator Rubio issued this statement: "U.S. law clearly bans tourism to Cuba by American citizens because it provides money to a cruel, repressive and murderous regime."
The Treasury Dept. confirmed, "It is our understanding that the travelers in question traveled to Cuba pursuant to an educational exchange trip to promote people-to-people contact in Cuba."
Jay-Z's new tune declares, "I'm in Cuba, I love Cubans. This communist talk is so confusing. I done turned Havana into Atlanta...Boy from the hood, I got White House clearance..Politicians never did s*** for me except lie to me, distort history...They wanna give me jail time and a fine. Fine, let me commit a real crime."
The rapper continued, "Hear the freedom in my speech... Obama said, 'Chill you gonna get me impeached. You don't need this s*** anyway, chill with me on the beach.'"
