jenna bush hagar tweets photo of grandpa and mila

Jenna Bush Hager hit Twitter today to weigh in on the hospitalization of her father, George W. Bush, who is recovering at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital from a heart procedure to open a blocked artery.

The NBC news correspondent tweeted, "Thanks for your prayers for my dear Dad.  He's well and we're eager for him to return to Grandpa duty."

The sweet sentiment was accompanied by a photo of the former POTUS, 67, looking into the brass baby bed of his granddaughter, who was born April 13, 2013 in New York City.

A month ago Jenna posted another photo of her dad and Margaret Laura 'Mila' Hager that was captioned, "Happiest of birthdays to a darling dad, and grandpa, a man who taught me the importance of family love."

This statement was posted on the George W Bush Presidential Center website: "During President George W Bush's annual physical examination at the Cooper Clinic in Dallas Monday, a blockage was discovered in an artery in his heart.  At the recommendation of his doctors, President Bush agreed to have a stent placed to open the blockage.  The procedure was performed successfully this morning, without complications."

"President Bush is in high spirits and is eager to return home tomorrow and resume his normal schedule on Thursday.  He is grateful to the skilled medical professionals who have cared for him.  He thanks his family, friends, and fellow citizens for their prayers and well wishes.  And he encourages us all to get our regular check-ups."

jenna bush hager delivers daughter mila

Former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager, 31, and her husband Henry Hager welcomed a 6 pound, 15 ounce daughter on Saturday night at a Manhattan hospital.

The couple did not know the gender of their baby until she arrived over the weekend.  A few days ago Jenna said at her baby shower, "I really love the relationship I have with my mother, so to have a daughter would be special."

Former President George W. Bush confirmed the news on Facebook: "Laura and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our grandchild, Margaret Laura "Mila" Hager.  Mila, daughter of Jenna and Henry Hager, is named for her grandmothers."

"She was born last night, April 13, at 8:43 pm in New York City.  We met our beautiful granddaughter today.  Jenna and Mila are healthy and our family is elated."

The TODAY show released exclusive images and video this morning -- getting the scoop because Jenna is a special NBC correspondent who appears regularly on the morning show.

Jenna's twin sister Barbara Bush, the co-founder of Global Health Corps., is a first time Aunt.

TODAY special correspondent Jenna Bush Hager gave the NBC morning show the exclusive confirmation that she and Henry Hager are expecting a springtime baby.

The 31-year-old twin daughter of former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, got teary eyed as she was joined on the set by her husband, who was carrying a floral bouquet that he presented to her.

Admitting that she is "hormonal" and surprised that they were able to keep the secret under wraps for so long, the mother-to-be announced, "I'm nervous and so excited to say that we're pregnant... I'm pregnant.  I'm a first time mother and it's something I've always wanted."

In a phone conversation that was broadcast live from Dallas, viewers heard Jenna's parents gush about being first time grandparents and we also learned that she calls her dad "Popsicle."

When Matt Lauer asked W what he wants his grandkids to call him, he quipped, "Sir."  He was quick to add, "Yeah, I'm fired up, looking forward to it."

A British website broke the story yesterday - baby bump photos here.

is jenna bush hager rocking a baby bump

According to an exclusive report by The Daily Mail, Jenna Bush Hager is pregnant.  She is the wife of Henry Hager and the daughter of former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.

The 31-year-old TODAY special correspondent is the twin sister of Barbara Bush, who was named for her Texas grandmother who is also a former First Lady.

We've included recent photos of Jenna from the UNICEF Snowflake Ball held in Manhattan two week ago and we'll admit they do seem to suggest a new roundness and fuller figure.

Hager wed in 2008 and has felt some pressure from her parents to give them grandchildren.  She joked last year during an interview: "My dad saw my husband's boss at a conference, and he said to stop paying my husband until we produce children."

So far there has been no official confirmation from Jenna and Henry.  Check out more photos and let us know what you think ... yes? no? maybe?

jenna bush hager today show correspondent

Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of former President George W. Bush and Laura Bush, has two part-time jobs beginning in September.  She will be a reading coordinator at a Baltimore school and has also signed on to become a monthly correspondent for the Today show on NBC.

The shows executive producer Jim Bell admits he was quite impressed by the way the former 'first daughter' handled herself during several guest appearances on Today.  The author of two books, Jenna, 27,  was poised and confident during past show visits.  Things went so well during one interview that her planned ten minute segment was stretched to a full half hour.

Bell expects that his new hire will cover a story on education as her first assignment, working out of NBC's Washington bureau.  She married Henry Hager in a beautiful sunset wedding ceremony in May 2008 - see wedding photos here.

ellen and jenna bush

Ellen Degeneres taped a show on Thursday May 22, that will air next Wednesday, May 27, with the first daughter Jenna Hager and her mother, first lady Laura Bush. The ladies chatted about Jenna's May 10th wedding to Henry Chase Hager.

The nuptials took place at the Bush ranch in Crawford, Texas and Jenna brought along photos of the reception. Ellen, who just announced that she will be marrying partner Portia de Rossi after California lifted the ban on same sex marriage, asked Jenna:

So, the ranch was a great place to get married - it looked like nobody could fly over and get pictures or bother you, really."

Jenna came back with "Yeah" and Ellen continued, "So, can we borrow it for our wedding, can we get the ranch?" Of course Jenna said "sure."

Actually it's a moot point because Texas was the 19th state to approve a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage in November 2005. It's definitely fun to think about the absurdity of it - and leave it to Ellen to turn it into a joke.

If you did not get to see Ellen announce her engagement check it out here. We have a huge spread of Jenna and Henry's wedding photos here.

jenna and henry wed

Jenna Welch Bush wed Henry Chase Hager on Saturday, May 10th, making her the first daughter of a sitting United States president to marry in 16 years.

The pair exchanged vows just before sundown in a lakeside ceremony at the secluded 1,600-acre Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas. The altar was a specially crafted 4 foot limestone cross and altar that will undoubtedly stand through the decades as a permanent landmark.

In the president's weekly radio broadcast on Saturday morning he said:

This is a joyous occasion for our family, as we celebrate the happy life ahead of (Jenna) and her husband, Henry," the president said in his weekly radio broadcast Saturday morning. "It's also a special time for Laura, who this Mother's Day weekend will watch a young woman we raised together walk down the aisle."

The president escorted the bride to the altar while 200 invited guests, including family and only the closest of friends, witnessed the ceremony. Henry Hager's brother, John, was his Best Man.

Jenna, 26, wore an Oscar de la Renta gown. Barbara Bush served as her twin sister's maid of honor. She wore a dress of moonstone blue shimmer with a silver sash. First Lady Laura Bush's deep turquoise "mother-of-the-bride" gown was also designed by Oscar de la Renta, who is reportedly a friend of the family.

The bridal party included 14 bridesmaids who wore custom made gowns in hues of blue, green, yellow and lavender to mirror the Texas landscape and wildflowers. The men dressed in suits rather than black tie, another indication that the bride wanted a comfortable, not stuffy affair.

The party following the ceremony included dancing to the sounds of wedding singer Tyrone Smith, aka Super T. The wedding festivities actually kicked off a day earlier with a rehearsal dinner and after party on Friday evening, which was also Henry Hager's 30th birthday. Undoubtedly, this important milestone was also part of the evenings celebration.

The last sitting president's child to marry was Dorothy Bush Koch, Jenna's aunt, who wed in 1992 in a Camp David ceremony. Jenna and Henry opted for an intimate family wedding instead of a much heralded White House extravaganza that would have put them on the world stage.

We've got some additional photos below that have been released by the White House.

jenna bush and henry hager marry

First daughter Jenna Bush and the lucky groom to be, Henry Hager, have finally set their wedding date. The couple announced their engagement in August. The wedding date is set for May 10th and will take place at per parents 1,600 acre ranch in Crawford, Texas.

First Lady Laura Bush spoke with People magazine back in November and said that, of course, she fancied a White House wedding and that it would be a lot of fun. The First Lady went on to say that she did, however, know that if held at the White House, it would not be a private affair. They were determined to do whatever made the couple happy.

President George W. Bush also spoke about his daughters engagement and said, "I am thrilled for Henry and Jenna, knowing how great marriage can be."

The fact that the young couple has chosen to stay out of the limelight on their special day seems to speak to their desire for a more personal experience. The two seem very down to earth and we wish them well.
