Actor Nicolas Cage was arrested at 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning, and charged with domestic abuse, public drunkenness and disturbing the peace. He was held for eight hours before having his bail posted by Dog the Bounty Hunter Chapman.

The actor and his wife, Alice Kim, were reportedly arguing loudly on a New Orleans street in the French Quarter when a taxi driver phoned police to reported a domestic in progress.

When police arrived, they urged Cage and his wife to just go home — to the rental property where they are temporarily residing while he is filming a new movie.

Nic wasn’t having any part of it. He repeatedly dared cops to take some legal action by taunting: “Why don’t you just arrest me?”

The actor got his wish and was taken into custody. Bond was set at $11,000 and he was released midday.

The fight reportedly started when the couple disagreed about the exact address of an apartment where they are staying. Alice started to enter one property when Cage grabbed her by the upper arm and pulled her toward another residence. A battle ensued and he began hitting parked cars with his fist.

Cage’s arrest came just one day after a federal tax lien was filed against the actor in L.A. County, indicating he owes $625K in unpaid gift taxes.

Beth Chapman tweeted: “Up and down all night working on a bond in New Orleans. Good thing I like you dude. We write nationwide Bail Bonds. We can get anyone out in any state from right here in Hawaii. “

Three hours later she added: “My guy just walked out of the jail. Damn New Orleans 8 hours, holy cow, that’s a lot of time to process one guy.”
